    Weiwei Lin1,2,*, Reiko Haga3

    Journal on Big Data, Vol.3, No.4, pp. 147-153, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jbd.2021.017299 - 20 December 2021

Abstract In this paper, a cybersecurity threat warning model based on ant colony algorithm is designed to strengthen the accuracy of the cybersecurity threat warning model in the warning process and optimize its algorithm structure. Through the ant colony algorithm structure, the local global optimal solution is obtained; and the cybersecurity threat warning index system is established. Next, the above two steps are integrated to build the cybersecurity threat warning model based on ant colony algorithm, and comparative experiment is also designed. The experimental results show that, compared with the traditional qualitative differential game-based cybersecurity More >

Management of Schemes and Threat Prevention in ICS Partner Companies Security

    Sangdo Lee1, Jun-Ho Huh2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.3, pp. 3659-3684, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015632 - 24 August 2021

Abstract An analysis of the recent major security incidents related to industrial control systems, revealed that most had been caused by company employees. Therefore, enterprise security management systems have been developed to focus on companies’ personnel. Nonetheless, several hacking incidents, involving major companies and public/financial institutions, were actually attempted by the cooperative firms or the outsourced manpower undertaking maintenance work. Specifically, institutions that operate industrial control systems (ICSs) associated with critical national infrastructures, such as traffic or energy, have contracted several cooperative firms. Nonetheless, ICT's importance is gradually increasing, due to outsourcing, and is the most… More >

Secure Multifactor Remote Access User Authentication Framework for IoT Networks

    Mohammed Mujib Alshahrani*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 3235-3254, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015310 - 06 May 2021

Abstract The term IoT refers to the interconnection and exchange of data among devices/sensors. IoT devices are often small, low cost, and have limited resources. The IoT issues and challenges are growing increasingly. Security and privacy issues are among the most important concerns in IoT applications, such as smart buildings. Remote cybersecurity attacks are the attacks which do not require physical access to the IoT networks, where the attacker can remotely access and communicate with the IoT devices through a wireless communication channel. Thus, remote cybersecurity attacks are a significant threat. Emerging applications in smart environments… More >

A Survey on Security Threats and Solutions of Bitcoin

    Le Lai1,*,Tongqing Zhou1, Zhiping Cai1, Zhiyao Liang2, Hao Bai1

    Journal of Cyber Security, Vol.3, No.1, pp. 29-44, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jcs.2021.016349 - 30 April 2021

Abstract Bitcoin is known as the first decentralized digital currency around the world. It uses blockchain technology to store transaction data in a distributed public ledger, is a distributed ledger that removes third-party trust institutions. Since its invention, bitcoin has achieved great success, has a market value of about $200 billion. However, while bitcoin has brought a wide and far-reaching impact in the financial field, it has also exposed some security problems, such as selfish mining attacks, Sybil attack, eclipse attacks, routing attacks, EREBUS attacks, and so on. This paper gives a comprehensive overview of various More >

Security-Critical Components Recognition Algorithm for Complex Heterogeneous Information Systems

    Jinxin Zuo1,2, Yueming Lu1,2,*, Hui Gao2,3, Tong Peng1,2, Ziyv Guo2,3, Tong An1,2, Enjie Liu4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.2, pp. 2579-2595, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016623 - 13 April 2021

Abstract With the skyrocketing development of technologies, there are many issues in information security quantitative evaluation (ISQE) of complex heterogeneous information systems (CHISs). The development of CHIS calls for an ISQE model based on security-critical components to improve the efficiency of system security evaluation urgently. In this paper, we summarize the implication of critical components in different filed and propose a recognition algorithm of security-critical components based on threat attack tree to support the ISQE process. The evaluation model establishes a framework for ISQE of CHISs that are updated iteratively. Firstly, with the support of asset More >

Assessing User’s Susceptibility and Awareness of Cybersecurity Threats

    Maha M. Althobaiti*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.28, No.1, pp. 167-177, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.016660 - 17 March 2021

Abstract Cybersecurity threats, including those involving machine learning, malware, phishing, and cryptocurrency, have become more sophisticated. They target sensitive information and put institutions, governments, and individuals in a continual state of risk. In 2019, phishing attacks became one of the most common and dangerous cyber threats. Such attacks attempt to steal sensitive data, such as login and payment card details, from financial, social, and educational websites. Many universities have suffered data breaches, serving as a prime example of victims of attacks on educational websites. Owing to advances in phishing tactics, strategies, and technologies, the end-user is… More >

Security Threats to Business Information Systems Using NFC Read/Write Mode

    Sergio Rios-Aguilar1,2,*, Marta Beltrán2, González-Crespo Rubén3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.3, pp. 2955-2969, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014969 - 01 March 2021

Abstract Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) and related technologies such as Near Field Communication (NFC) are becoming essential in industrial contexts thanks to their ability to perform contactless data exchange, either device-to-device or tag-to-device. One of the three main operation modes of NFC, called read/write mode, makes use of the latter type of interaction. It is extensively used in business information systems that make use of NFC tags to provide the end-user with augmented information in one of several available NFC data exchange formats, such as plain text, simple URLs or enriched URLs. Using a wide variety… More >

A Cyber Kill Chain Approach for Detecting Advanced Persistent Threats

    Yussuf Ahmed1,*, A.Taufiq Asyhari1, Md Arafatur Rahman2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.2, pp. 2497-2513, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014223 - 05 February 2021

Abstract The number of cybersecurity incidents is on the rise despite significant investment in security measures. The existing conventional security approaches have demonstrated limited success against some of the more complex cyber-attacks. This is primarily due to the sophistication of the attacks and the availability of powerful tools. Interconnected devices such as the Internet of Things (IoT) are also increasing attack exposures due to the increase in vulnerabilities. Over the last few years, we have seen a trend moving towards embracing edge technologies to harness the power of IoT devices and 5G networks. Edge technology brings… More >
