    Xiangmei Ye1,2,3, Baoyi Yang4, Xin Zhang5, Luyuan Yang1, Likun Zhang5, Qin Ren1, Xiaobing Li1, Leiguang Feng1, Lanlan Wei3,6,7,*, Peng Song1, Yuqing Ye8, Xin Lian9, Yujuan Gao9, Haidi Tang1, Zhiyu Liu1

    Oncology Research, Vol.34, No.1, 2026, DOI:10.32604/or.2025.068814 - 30 December 2025

Abstract Objectives: Philadelphia chromosome-positive B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia and Philadelphia-like B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+/Ph-like ALL) constitute the majority of relapsed/refractory B-ALL (R/R B-ALL) cases, highlighting an urgent need to discover new therapeutic targets. This study aims to elucidate the mechanisms underlying poor prognosis in Ph+/Ph-like ALL through transcriptome sequencing and functional cytological assays, with the goal of informing new clinical treatment strategies. Results: Transcriptomic analysis of Ph+/Ph-like ALL patients revealed that low expression of P2X Purinoceptor 1 (P2RX1) was associated with unfavorable outcomes. Specifically, patients with poor prognosis and low P2RX1 expression exhibited downregulation of… More >

    Oncology Research, Vol.33, No.1, pp. 57-65, 2025, DOI:10.32604/or.2024.049054 - 20 December 2024

Abstract Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are effective in a subset of patients with metastatic solid tumors. However, the patients who would benefit most from ICIs in biliary tract cancer (BTC) are still controversial. Materials and methods: We molecularly characterized tissues and blood from 32 patients with metastatic BTC treated with the ICI pembrolizumab as second-line therapy. Results: All patients had microsatellite stable (MSS) type tumors. Three of the 32 patients achieved partial response (PR), with an objective response rate (ORR) of 9.4% (95% confidence interval [CI], 2.0–25.2) and nine showed stable disease (SD), exhibiting a disease… More >

Integrated Transcriptomics and Metabolomics Analysis for the Mechanism Underlying White-to-Pink Petal Color Transition in Hibiscus mutabilis Flowers

Xiaodong Shi*, Tingyu Wang, Sui Ai, Jiasi Li

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.93, No.10, pp. 2571-2581, 2024, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2024.056606 - 30 October 2024

Abstract Cotton rose (Hibiscus mutabilis) is a well-known ornamental plant that produces large flowers of vibrant colors. However, metabolites in H. mutabilis flowers with vibrant color have not been fully understood. By performing a combined analysis of metabolomics and transcriptomics data, we here explored mechanisms for the production of primary active compounds in this plant. Multivariate statistics unveiled differences in flavonoid metabolism between white and pink flowers, with pink flowers exhibiting a greater flavonoid abundance. The white-to-pink transition of cotton rose flowers may be attributed to pelargonidin-3-O-glucoside formation. On examining the expression of genes related to the structure More > Graphic Abstract

Transcriptome Analysis of a Wild Eggplant Germplasm M239 in Response to Verticillium dahliae Infection

    Liyan Wu1, Jie Cheng1,2, Yaju Gong1, Rui Bao1, Zhibin Li1, Min Gui1,*, Guanghui Du2,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.2, pp. 591-609, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.023481 - 12 October 2022

Abstract In this study, wild eggplant germplasm No. M239, which is highly susceptible to Verticillium wilt, was used as the experimental material. The physiological and biochemical indices (SOD, PAL, MDA and soluble protein) of M239 roots were measured at different times (0, 12, 24, 36, 48, 60 and 72 h) post inoculation with Verticillium dahliae, and the key time points for the M239 response to Verticillium wilt infection were screened. Then, RNA-Seq technology was used to screen the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in M239 roots at 0, 12 and 48 h post-inoculation (hpi). The transcriptional results of M239… More >

The transcriptome analysis of cleft lip/palate-related PTCH1 variants in GMSM-K cells show carcinogenic potential

    MINGZHAO LI1, QIAN ZHANG2, WENBIN HUANG1, SHIYING ZHANG1, NAN JIANG2, XIAOSHUAI HUANG3,*, FENG CHEN2,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.47, No.1, pp. 205-214, 2023, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.022572 - 26 September 2022

Abstract Cancer progression involves the sonic hedgehog (SHH) pathway, in which the receptor PTCH1 actives the downstream pathways. Dysfunction of PTCH1 can lead to nevoid basal cell carcinoma Syndrome (NBCCs) including neoplastic disease and congenital disorder. To evaluate the relationship between PTCH1 and cancer, we applied the CRISPR/Cas9 system to knock out PTCH1 in oral nontumorous epithelial cells (GMSM-K). Then we screened six PTCH1 variants associated with cleft lip/palate (CL/P), one of the congenital disorders in NBCCs, and generated PTCH1 variant and wild-type recombinant PTCH1−/− GMSM-K cell lines. Transcriptome sequencing was conducted in these cell lines. The… More >

Transcriptome based high-throughput SSRs and SNPs discovery in the medicinal plant Lagenaria siceraria

HONGYUAN ZHANG, MIN ZHANG, JIE TAN, SHUPING HUANG, GUOLIN ZHOU*, XIA CHEN*

    BIOCELL, Vol.45, No.2, pp. 371-386, 2021, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.013869 - 19 February 2021

Abstract Lagenaria siceraria (Molina) Standley has unique biological characteristics with high nutritional and medicinal values. It is an important pharmaceutical plant with various biologically active ingredients. Genetic improvement and deeper genomic studies require a rich resource of molecular markers. The application of next-generation sequencing technology, especially for transcriptome profiling, has greatly facilitated high throughput single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and simple sequence repeat (SSR) discovery. In this study, we sequenced the transcriptome of three major cultivars of L. siceraria and obtained 64.88 GB of clean data. The assembled high-quality reads were clustered into 89,347 unigenes, which were annotated by… More >
