    Energy Engineering, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.047832

Abstract The determination of source-side extracted heating parameters is of great significance to the economic operation of cogeneration systems. This paper investigated the coupling performance of a cogeneration heating and power system multidimensionally based on the operating characteristics of the cogeneration units, the hydraulic and thermodynamic characteristics of the heating network, and the energy loads. Taking a steam network supported by a gas-steam combined cycle cogeneration system as the research case, the interaction effect among the source-side prime movers, the heating networks, and the terminal demand thermal parameters were investigated based on the designed values, the plant testing data, and the… More >

A Data-Oriented Method to Optimize Hydraulic Fracturing Parameters of Tight Sandstone Reservoirs

Zhengrong Chen*, Mao Jiang, Chuanzhi Ai, Jianshu Wu, Xin Xie

    Energy Engineering, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.030222

Abstract Based on the actual data collected from the tight sandstone development zone, correlation analysis using the Spearman method was conducted to determine the main factors influencing the gas production rate of tight sandstone fracturing. An integrated model combining geological engineering and numerical simulation of fracture propagation and production was completed. Based on data analysis, the hydraulic fracture parameters were optimized to develop a differentiated fracturing treatment adjustment plan. The results indicate that the influence of geological and engineering factors in the X1 and X2 development zones in the study area differs significantly. Therefore, it is challenging to adopt a uniform… More >

Huanan Yu, Hangyu Li, He Wang, Shiqiang Li*

    Energy Engineering, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.046936

Abstract The escalating deployment of distributed power sources and random loads in DC distribution networks has amplified the potential consequences of faults if left uncontrolled. To expedite the process of achieving an optimal configuration of measurement points, this paper presents an optimal configuration scheme for fault location measurement points in DC distribution networks based on an improved particle swarm optimization algorithm. Initially, a measurement point distribution optimization model is formulated, leveraging compressive sensing. The model aims to achieve the minimum number of measurement points while attaining the best compressive sensing reconstruction effect. It incorporates constraints from the compressive sensing algorithm and… More >

Combined Optimal Dispatch of Thermal Power Generators and Energy Storage Considering Thermal Power Deep Peak Clipping and Wind Energy Emission Grading Punishment

    Junhui Li1, Xuanzhong Luo1,2, Changxing Ge3, Cuiping Li1,*, Changrong Wang4

    Energy Engineering, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.029722

Abstract Peak load and wind energy emission pressure rise more as wind energy penetration keeps growing, which affects the stabilization of the PS (power system). This paper suggests integrated optimal dispatching of thermal power generators and BESS (battery energy storage system) taking wind energy emission grading punishment and deep peak clipping into consideration. Firstly, in order to minimize wind abandonment, a hierarchical wind abandonment penalty strategy based on fuzzy control is designed and introduced, and the optimal grid-connected power of wind energy is determined as a result of minimizing the peak cutting cost of the system. Secondly, considering BESS and thermal… More >

Improving Heat Transfer in Parabolic Trough Solar Collectors by Magnetic Nanofluids

    Ritesh Singh1, Abhishek Gupta1, Akshoy Ranjan Paul1, Bireswar Paul1, Suvash C. Saha2,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.046849

Abstract A parabolic trough solar collector (PTSC) converts solar radiation into thermal energy. However, low thermal efficiency of PTSC poses a hindrance to the deployment of solar thermal power plants. Thermal performance of PTSC is enhanced in this study by incorporating magnetic nanoparticles into the working fluid. The circular receiver pipe, with dimensions of 66 mm diameter, 2 mm thickness, and 24 m length, is exposed to uniform temperature and velocity conditions. The working fluid, Therminol-66, is supplemented with Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles at concentrations ranging from 1% to 4%. The findings demonstrate that the inclusion of nanoparticles increases the convective heat… More >

A New Equalization Method for Lithium-Ion Battery Packs Based on CUK Converter

Yu Zhang, Sheng Tian*, Yongkang Zhang

    Energy Engineering, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.047247

Abstract Aiming at the traditional CUK equalizer can only perform energy equalization between adjacent batteries, if the two single batteries that need to be equalized are far away from each other, there will be the problem of longer energy transmission path and lower equalization efficiency, this paper optimizes the CUK equalizer and optimizes its peripheral selection circuit, which can support the equalization of single batteries at any two positions. The control strategy adopts the open-circuit voltage (OVC) of the battery and the state of charge (SOC) of the battery as the equalization variables, and selects the corresponding equalization variables according to… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.046784

Abstract Distributed photovoltaic (PV) is one of the important power sources for building a new power system with new energy as the main body. The rapid development of distributed PV has brought new challenges to the operation of distribution networks. In order to improve the absorption ability of large-scale distributed PV access to the distribution network, the AC/DC hybrid distribution network is constructed based on flexible interconnection technology, and a coordinated scheduling strategy model of hydrogen energy storage (HS) and distributed PV is established. Firstly, the mathematical model of distributed PV and HS system is established, and a comprehensive energy storage… More >

Optimal Bidding Strategies of Microgrid with Demand Side Management for Economic Emission Dispatch Incorporating Uncertainty and Outage of Renewable Energy Sources

    Mousumi Basu1, Chitralekha Jena2, Baseem Khan3,4,*, Ahmed Ali4

    Energy Engineering, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.043294

Abstract In the restructured electricity market, microgrid (MG), with the incorporation of smart grid technologies, distributed energy resources (DERs), a pumped-storage-hydraulic (PSH) unit, and a demand response program (DRP), is a smarter and more reliable electricity provider. DER consists of gas turbines and renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic systems and wind turbines. Better bidding strategies, prepared by MG operators, decrease the electricity cost and emissions from upstream grid and conventional and renewable energy sources (RES). But it is inefficient due to the very high sporadic characteristics of RES and the very high outage rate. To solve these issues, this study… More >
