    Yi-Ting Mai1,*, Chi-En Li2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.1, pp. 131-147, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.027833

Abstract Radio network access technology currently used in 4G/5G is Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A), which was developed by 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). Device-to-device (D2D) communication is a technology enabling direct communications among wireless devices without forwarding through an evolved Node B (eNB). Moreover, D2D transmission can support vehicles as a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) environment. It is possible to avoid accidents via exchanging movement-related information among vehicles and effectively increase driving safety (and efficiency). However, radio resources are limited in radio networks. A vehicle transmits through D2D in Long Term Evolution-Vehicle (LTE-V) mode-3 standard, and an eNB can allocate the same spectrum… More >

Cooperative Relay Networks Based on the OAM Technique for 5G Applications

Mohammad Alkhawatrah, Ahmad Alamayreh, Nidal Qasem*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 1911-1919, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.028614

Abstract Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) is an intrinsic property of electromagnetic waves. Great research has been witnessed in the last decades aiming at exploiting the OAM wave property in different areas in radio and optics. One promising area of particular interest is to enhance the efficiency of the available communications spectrum. However, adopting OAM-based solutions is not priceless as these suffer from wave divergence especially when the OAM order is high. This shall limit the practical communications distance, especially in the radio regime. In this paper, we propose a cooperative OAM relaying system consisting of a source, relay, and destination. Relays… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 6085-6101, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.031532

Abstract A reflectarray antenna consisting of asymmetrical patch elements is proposed, which is capable of producing dual linear and dual circular polarized operation at 26 GHz frequency. The main purpose of this design is to support four different polarizations using the same patch element. The proposed reflectarray has a single layer configuration with a linearly polarized feed and circular ring slots in the ground plane. Asymmetric patch element is designed from a square patch element by tilting its one vertical side to some optimized inclination. A wide reflection phase range of 600° is obtained with the asymmetric patch element during unit cell… More >

    Amruta S. Dixit1, Sumit Kumar1,*, Shabana Urooj2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 4909-4921, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.027862

Abstract This paper proposes a stable gain and a compact Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna (AVA) for a 38 GHz band of 5G communication. A novel compact AVA is designed to provide constant gain, high front to back ratio (FBR), and very high efficiency. The performance of the proposed AVA is enhanced with the help of a dielectric lens (DL) and corrugations. A rectangular-shaped DL is incorporated in conventional AVA (CAVA) to enhance its gain up to 1 dBi and the bandwidth by 1.8 GHz. Next, the rectangular corrugations are implemented in CAVA with lens (CAVA-L) to further improve the gain and bandwidth. The proposed… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.2, pp. 3181-3198, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.029863

Abstract Due to the limited space and large mutual coupling levels, the design of sub-6 GHz massive Multi-Input Multi-Output (m-MIMO) smartphone antenna system attracts antennas’ designers and engineers worldwide. Therefore, this paper presents 18-element m-MIMO antenna system that covers the long-term evolution 42 (LTE42) frequency band (3.4–3.6 GHz) for the fifth generation (5G) applications in metallic frame smartphones. The proposed array system is etched on the long sides of a metal rim of the mobile chassis symmetrically, which is electrically connected to the system ground plane with zero ground clearance. A low-profile frame of height 7 mm (λ/12.3) is symmetrically placed… More >

Base Station Energy Management in 5G Networks Using Wide Range Control Optimization

    J. Premalatha*, A. SahayaAnselin Nisha

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.1, pp. 811-826, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.026523

Abstract The traffic activity of fifth generation (5G) networks demand for new energy management techniques that is dynamic deep and longer duration of sleep as compared to the fourth generation (4G) network technologies that demand always for varied control and data signalling based on control base station (CBS) and data base station (DBS). Hence, this paper discusses the energy management in wireless cellular networks using wide range of control for twice the reduction in energy conservation in non-standalone deployment of 5G network. As the new radio (NR) based 5G network is configured to transmit signal blocks for every 20 ms, the proposed… More >

Container Based Nomadic Vehicular Cloud Using Cell Transmission Model

    Devakirubai Navulkumar1,*, Menakadevi Thangavelu2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.1, pp. 423-440, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.025166

Abstract Nomadic Vehicular Cloud (NVC) is envisaged in this work. The predominant aspects of NVC is, it moves along with the vehicle that initiates it and functions only with the resources of moving vehicles on the heavy traffic road without relying on any of the static infrastructure and NVC decides the initiation time of container migration using cell transmission model (CTM). Containers are used in the place of Virtual Machines (VM), as containers’ features are very apt to NVC’s dynamic environment. The specifications of 5G NR V2X PC5 interface are applied to NVC, for the feature of not relying on the… More >

    J. Avila Selvi Therase1,*, S. Allwin1, A. Ahilan2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.1, pp. 297-309, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.023515

Abstract Intelligent communication technologies beyond the network are proposed by using a new full-duplex protocol. The Media Access Control (MAC) is a data interaction network protocol, which outperforms the IEEE 802.15.4e. This research discusses the planning and execution of full-duplex (FD) pipeline MAC protocol for multihop wireless networks (MWN). The design uses a combination of Radio frequency and baseband methods to realize full-duplexing with smallest impact on cross layer functions. The execution and trial results specify that Pipeline Media Access Control (PiMAC) protocol considerably develops network implementation in terms of transmission protocol (TP) and transmission delay. The advantage of using FD-MAC… More >

Abstract Multi and single carrier waveforms are utilized in cellular systems for high-speed data transmission. In The Fifth Generation (5G) system, several waveform techniques based on multi carrier waveforms are proposed. However, the Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) is seen as one of the significant concerns in advanced waveforms as it degrades the efficiency of the framework. The proposed article documents the study, progress, and implementation of PAPR reduction algorithms for the 5G radio framework. We compare the PAPR algorithm performance for advanced and conventional waveforms. The simulation results reveal that the advanced Partial Transmission Sequence (PTS) and Selective Mapping… More >
