Abstract The study mainly analyzed the relationship between temperature and the upper respiratory tract infections (URI) in Lanzhou. We collected the daily URI and meteorological data from 2010 to 2015. A distributed lag non-linear model was used to examine the relationship and potential effects of different temperatures and different lag days on the morbidity of URI. The results showed that the morbidity of URI was significantly related to the meteorological factors, and the peak of the onset of the disease usually occurred between November and February the next year. The correlation analysis was carried out between meteorological factors and URI cases,… More >

Abstract Current understanding about how the virus that causes COVID-19 spreads is largely based on what is known about similar coronaviruses. Some of the Natural products are suitable drugs against SARS-CoV-2 main protease. For recognizing a strong inhibitor, we have accomplished docking studies on the major virus protease with 4 natural product species as anti COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2), namely “Vidarabine”, “Cytarabine”, “Gemcitabine” and “Matrine” which have been extracted from Gillan’s leaves plants. These are known as Chuchaq, Trshvash, Cote-Couto and Khlvash in Iran. Among these four studied compounds, Cytarabine appears as a suitable compound with high effectiveness inhibitors to this protease. Finally… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.25, No.4, pp. 673-681, 2019, DOI:10.31209/2018.100000035

Abstract Recognition of human activity is a key element for building intelligent and pervasive environments. Inhabitants interact with several objects and devices while performing any activity. Interactive objects and devices convey information that can be essential factors for activity recognition. Using embedded sensors with devices or objects, it is possible to get object-use sequencing data. This approach does not create discomfort to the user than wearable sensors and has no impact or issue in terms of user privacy than image sensors. In this paper, we propose a linear model for activity recognition based on the state-space method. The activities and sensor… More >

Numerical Modelling of Proppant Transport in Hydraulic Fractures

    Yatin Suri1, Sheikh Zahidul Islam1, *, Mamdud Hossain1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.16, No.2, pp. 297-337, 2020, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2020.08421

Abstract The distribution of proppant injected in hydraulic fractures significantly affects the fracture conductivity and well performance. The proppant transport in thin fracturing fluid used during hydraulic fracturing in the unconventional reservoirs is considerably different from fracturing fluids in the conventional reservoir due to the very low viscosity and quick deposition of the proppants. This paper presents the development of a threedimensional Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling technique for the prediction of proppant-fluid multiphase flow in hydraulic fractures. The proposed model also simulates the fluid leak-off behaviour from the fracture wall. The Euler-Granular and CFD-Discrete Element Method (CFD-DEM) multiphase modelling approach… More >

Tong Li, Prasad KDV Yarlagadda, Adekunle Oloyede, Namal Thibbotuwawa, YuanTong Gu∗,†

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.12, No.1, pp. 17-35, 2015, DOI:10.3970/mcb.2015.012.017

Abstract Living cells are the functional unit of organs that controls reactions to their exterior. However, the mechanics of living cells can be difficult to characterize due to the crypticity of their microscale structures and associated dynamic cellular processes. Fortunately, multiscale modelling provides a powerful simulation tool that can be used to study the mechanical properties of these soft hierarchical, biological systems. This paper reviews recent developments in hierarchical multiscale modeling technique that aimed at understanding cytoskeleton mechanics. Discussions are expanded with respects to cytoskeletal components including: intermediate filaments, microtubules and microfilament networks. The mechanical performance of difference cytoskeleton components are… More >

A Review on Fretting Wear Mechanisms, Models and Numerical Analyses

    Tongyan Yue1,2, Magd Abdel Wahab3,4,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.59, No.2, pp. 405-432, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.04253

Abstract Fretting wear is a material damage in contact surfaces due to micro relative displacement between them. It causes some general problems in industrial applications, such as loosening of fasteners or sticking in components supposed to move relative to each other. Fretting wear is a complicated problem involving material properties of tribo-system and working conditions of them. Due to these various factors, researchers have studied the process of fretting wear by experiments and numerical modelling methods. This paper reviews recent literature on the numerical modelling method of fretting wear. After a briefly introduction on the mechanism of fretting wear, numerical models,… More >

Numerical Validations of the Tangent Linear Model for the Lorenz Equations

    Tengjin Zhao1, Jing Zhang1, Zhilin Li2, Zhiyue Zhang1,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.120, No.1, pp. 83-104, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2019.04483

Abstract The validity of the tangent linear model (TLM) is studied numerically using the example of the Lorenz equations in this paper. The relationship between the limit of the validity time of the TLM and initial perturbations for the Lorenz equations is investigated using the Monte Carlo sampling method. A new error function between the nonlinear and the linear evolution of the perturbations is proposed. Furthermore, numerical sensitivity analysis is carried to establish the relationship between parameters and the validity of the TLM, such as the initial perturbation, the prediction time, the time step size and so on, by the method… More >

Modular Model Library for Energy System in Lunar Vehicle

    Chen Chang1, Su Shaohui1, Chen Guojin1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.108, No.1, pp. 1-20, 2015, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2015.108.001

Abstract For modeling and simulation of energy system in lunar vehicle, there are many special purpose tools along with their models, such as PSIM, EMTP/ATP, could be used. But the models in these tools lack of flexibility and are not open to the end-user. Models developed in one tool can’t be conveniently used in others because of the barriers among these simulators. Usually these models are expressed in an explicit state-space form and their topology gets lost and future extension and reuse of the model is almost impossible. In order to solve those problems, a flexible and extensible energy system model… More >
