Abstract Nanoparticles (NPs) have already been widely used in catalysis, antibacterial and coating fields. Compared with the traditional toxic and harmful reducing reagents, green synthesis of NPs by using plant extracts is not only environmental-friendly and cost-effective but also conducive to the multi-level and efficient utilization of wild plant resources. In this study, the aqueous extracts from Sorbus pohuashanensis (SP) and Aronia melanocarpa (AM) fruits were used as the reducing and protective reagents for synthesizing Au/AgNPs, with the characteristics of originality operation and high repeatability. The SP/AM fruit extracts functionalized Au/AgNPs were characterized by UV-vis spectroscopy (UV-vis), transmission electron microscopy (TEM),… More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract Custard apple is a dry land fruit. Its leaves exhibit different pharmacological activities. In the present study, both silver (Ag) nanoparticles and chitosan-coated Ag (Chi-Ag) nanoparticles were fabricated using the aqueous leaf extract of the custard apple plant. During preliminary phytochemical analysis, various types of phytocompounds were found in the aqueous leaf extract of the same plant. Next, both nanoparticles were physiochemically characterized. FTIR analysis exhibited the fingerprint vibrational peaks of active bioactive compounds in plant extract, Ag nanoparticles, and Chi-Ag nanoparticles. UV/Visible spectral analysis revealed the highest absorbance peak at 419 nm, indicating the presence of Ag nanoparticles. XRD… More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract Water contaminated with pathogenic microbes is considered as one of the most common routes for transmitting diseases in human beings. Different methods have been applied for the decontamination of microbes in contaminated water. In the current study, an easy to do hydrothermal method has been used for the preparation of TiO2-Ag nanoparticles. The obtained material was characterised using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy (FTIR). The morphological appearance of the obtained nanoparticles was in the shape of a sphere with a size range of 60-90 nm. The antimicrobial activity of the prepared nanoparticles was tested against… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.13, No.1, pp. 49-57, 2017, DOI:10.3970/fdmp.2017.013.049

Abstract The paper presents a simple although effective method of obtaining gold and silver nanoparticles of average size of less than 3 nm. The nanoparticles were obtained by the Bredig’s electric arc method. Then colloidal preparations were centrifuged with acceleration equals to 29000 xg. It has been showed that subjecting the colloid to the hour centrifugation process repeated four times allows to obtain nanoparticles whose size does not exceed 5 nm. The nanoparticles prepared using this method were characterized by a high purity that depended only on the water and the cleanliness of the noble metal wire which have been used.… More >
