    Ivan Izonin1,*, Roman Tkachenko1, Michal Gregus2, Zoia Duriagina1,3, Nataliya Shakhovska1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.3, pp. 5933-5947, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.022582

Abstract The advent of additive technologies has provided a significant breakthrough in the production of medical implants. It has reduced costs, increased productivity and accuracy of the implant manufacturing process. However, there are problems associated with assessing defects in the microstructure, mechanical and technological properties of alloys, both during their production by powder metallurgy and in the process of 3D printing. Thus traditional research methods of alloys properties demand considerable human, material, and time resources. At the same time, artificial intelligence tools create opportunities for intelligent evaluation of the conformity for the microstructure, phase composition, and properties of titanium powder’s alloys.… More >

Abstract Biomedical image processing is a hot research topic which helps to majorly assist the disease diagnostic process. At the same time, breast cancer becomes the deadliest disease among women and can be detected by the use of different imaging techniques. Digital mammograms can be used for the earlier identification and diagnostic of breast cancer to minimize the death rate. But the proper identification of breast cancer has mainly relied on the mammography findings and results to increased false positives. For resolving the issues of false positives of breast cancer diagnosis, this paper presents an automated deep learning based breast cancer… More >

    Mudassir Shams1, Naila Rafiq2, Nasreen Kausar3, Nazir Ahmad Mir2, Ahmad Alalyani4,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.42, No.2, pp. 689-701, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.022269

Abstract In this study, we construct a family of single root finding method of optimal order four and then generalize this family for estimating of all roots of non-linear equation simultaneously. Convergence analysis proves that the local order of convergence is four in case of single root finding iterative method and six for simultaneous determination of all roots of non-linear equation. Some non-linear equations are taken from physics, chemistry and engineering to present the performance and efficiency of the newly constructed method. Some real world applications are taken from fluid mechanics, i.e., fluid permeability in biogels and biomedical engineering which includes… More >

Abstract The abundant existence of both structured and unstructured data and rapid advancement of statistical models stressed the importance of introducing Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI), a process that explains how prediction is done in AI models. Biomedical mental disorder, i.e., Autism Spectral Disorder (ASD) needs to be identified and classified at early stage itself in order to reduce health crisis. With this background, the current paper presents XAI-based ASD diagnosis (XAI-ASD) model to detect and classify ASD precisely. The proposed XAI-ASD technique involves the design of Bacterial Foraging Optimization (BFO)-based Feature Selection (FS) technique. In addition, Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) with… More >

    S. Karthik1, M. Santhosh1,*, M. S. Kavitha1, A. Christopher Paul2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.42, No.1, pp. 183-199, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.021698

Abstract Automated biomedical signal processing becomes an essential process to determine the indicators of diseased states. At the same time, latest developments of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques have the ability to manage and analyzing massive amounts of biomedical datasets results in clinical decisions and real time applications. They can be employed for medical imaging; however, the 1D biomedical signal recognition process is still needing to be improved. Electrocardiogram (ECG) is one of the widely used 1-dimensional biomedical signals, which is used to diagnose cardiovascular diseases. Computer assisted diagnostic models find it difficult to automatically classify the 1D ECG signals owing to… More >

Abstract The rapid development of biomedical imaging modalities led to its wide application in disease diagnosis. Tongue-based diagnostic procedures are proficient and non-invasive in nature to carry out secondary diagnostic processes ubiquitously. Traditionally, physicians examine the characteristics of tongue prior to decision-making. In this scenario, to get rid of qualitative aspects, tongue images can be quantitatively inspected for which a new disease diagnosis model is proposed. This model can reduce the physical harm made to the patients. Several tongue image analytical methodologies have been proposed earlier. However, there is a need exists to design an intelligent Deep Learning (DL) based disease… More >
