Simulated radiation shielding parameter for energy 1 keV-100 GeV of lead-free borotellurite based glass for nuclear medicine application

    N. F. Rozia, L. Hasnimulyatia, A. Azuraidab,*

    Chalcogenide Letters, Vol.22, No.1, pp. 57-76, 2025, DOI:10.15251/CL.2025.221.57

Abstract This paper studies on the theoretical ionizing radiation shielding parameter for the glass of {[(TeO2)0.7 (B2O3)0.3]0.7 [ZnO]0.3}1-x {CeO2}x by using two software; WinXCOM and PhyX software, which investigate the ability of cerium oxide. The investigation revealed that the 5CeZBTe glass sample, which included the greatest concentration of CeO2 (0.05 mol), showed the greatest linear attenuation coefficient (LAC) and least values in Half Value Layer (HVL) and Mean Free Path (MFP). These results suggest that 5CeZBTe glass has significant potential as an alternative to traditional lead-based radiation shielding, offering a safer environment for both patients and healthcare professionals in More >

Cerium Oxide Nanoparticles Alleviate Enhanced UV-B Radiation-Induced Stress in Wheat Seedling Roots by Regulating Reactive Oxygen Species

    Cheng Sun1,3, Chen Zhao2,3, Guohua Wang2,3, Qianwen Mao2,3, Rong Han2,3,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.94, No.2, pp. 455-479, 2025, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2025.061462 - 06 March 2025

Abstract Enhanced UV-B radiation represents a major environmental factor impacting global cereal production. Researchers have explored various approaches to reduce the detrimental impact of UV-B radiation on crops. Recently, engineered nanoparticles, particularly cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeO2-NPs), have attracted widespread interest for their ability to boost plant tolerance to a range of abiotic stresses. This study investigates how CeO2-NPs application affects the morphology, physiology, biochemistry, and transcriptomics profiles of wheat seedling roots subjected to enhanced UV-B stress. The findings demonstrate that CeO2-NPs notably promoted root length, fresh and dry weights, and root activity (p < 0.05) under enhanced UV-B… More >

Effects of Nano-Cerium Oxide on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Vitex negundo

Zi Yang, Shixian Fan, Xuehan Wei, Zhiming Zhang, Xin Gui*, Yong Zhao*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.89, No.4, pp. 893-903, 2020, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2020.013644 - 09 November 2020

Abstract Cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeO2NPs) are likely to have dramatic impacts on plant performances, yet the effects of CeO2NPs on seed germination and seedling growth have not been fully explored. In this study, the seed germination and seedling growth of subshrub species Vitex negundo under different concentrations of CeO2NPs (low-1 mg/L, medium-100 mg/L, high-500 mg/L) have been discussed. Results showed that: (1) The seed germination rate reduces by 11.25% and 2.5% under the low and medium concentrations of CeO2NPs, respectively, but increased by 7.08% under the high concentration; (2) CeO2NPs had significant effects on the growth traits (root length, shoot… More >

    Xiaofei Cao1, Shuo Zhao1, ShuJun Yan2, Jun Hu1,*, Yong Dan1,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.8, No.11, pp. 1443-1472, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2020.012113 - 28 September 2020

Abstract CeO2, as a significant functional material, Has a widespread application in many fields due to its excellent properties. In this review, we sum up a serious of methods to prepare and differentiate nanostructured cerium oxide with various morphologies based on dimensionality and its main applications in industry. We mainly summary the different strategies to synthetic the CeO2 with 0-D, 1-D, 2-D and 3-D and the key parameters which may affect the nanostructures. We hope that this review helps researchers master can look up CeO2 related knowledge more quickly upon the synthetic methods and comparing various morphologies or More >
