E-Learning during COVID-19 Outbreak: Cloud Computing Adoption in Indian Public Universities

    Amit Kumar Bhardwaj1, Lalit Garg2,*, Arunesh Garg1, Yuvraj Gajpal3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.3, pp. 2471-2492, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014099

Abstract In the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the need to adopt cloud computing (CC) applications by education institutions, in general, and higher education (HE) institutions, in particular, has especially increased to engage students in an online mode and remotely carrying out research. The adoption of CC across various sectors, including HE, has been picking momentum in the developing countries in the last few years. In the Indian context, the CC adaptation in the HE sector (HES) remains a less thoroughly explored sector, and no comprehensive study is reported in the literature. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to overcome this… More >

A Formal Testing Model for Operating Room Control System Using Internet of Things

    Moez Krichen1, Seifeddine Mechti2, Roobaea Alroobaea3, Elyes Said4, Parminder Singh5, Osamah Ibrahim Khalaf6, Mehedi Masud3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.3, pp. 2997-3011, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014090

Abstract Technological advances in recent years have significantly changed the way an operating room works. This work aims to create a platform to solve the problems of operating room occupancy and prepare the rooms with an environment that is favorable for all operations. Using this system, a doctor can control all operation rooms, especially before an operation, and monitor their temperature and humidity to prepare for the operation. Also, in the event of a problem, an alert is sent to the nurse responsible for the room and medical stuff so that the problem can be resolved. The platform is tested using… More >

An Advanced Analysis of Cloud Computing Concepts Based on the Computer Science Ontology

    Paweł Lula1, Octavian Dospinescu2,*, Daniel Homocianu2, Napoleon-Alexandru Sireteanu2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.3, pp. 2425-2443, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.013771

Abstract Our primary research hypothesis stands on a simple idea: The evolution of top-rated publications on a particular theme depends heavily on the progress and maturity of related topics. And this even when there are no clear relations or some concepts appear to cease to exist and leave place for newer ones starting many years ago. We implemented our model based on Computer Science Ontology (CSO) and analyzed 44 years of publications. Then we derived the most important concepts related to Cloud Computing (CC) from the scientific collection offered by Clarivate Analytics. Our methodology includes data extraction using advanced web crawling… More >

Hybrid Cloud Architecture for Higher Education System

Omar Nooh Almotiry1, Mohemmed Sha2,*, Mohamudha Parveen Rahamathulla3, Omer Salih Dawood Omer2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 1-12, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.014267

Abstract As technology improves, several modernization efforts are taken in the process of teaching and learning. An effective education system should maintain global connectivity, federate security and deliver self-access to its services. The cloud computing services transform the current education system to an advanced one. There exist several tools and services to make teaching and learning more interesting. In the higher education system, the data flow and basic operations are almost the same. These systems need to access cloud-based applications and services for their operational advancement and flexibility. Architecting a suitable cloud-based education system will leverage all the benefits of the… More >

A Comprehensive Utility Function for Resource Allocation in Mobile Edge Computing

    Zaiwar Ali1, Sadia Khaf2, Ziaul Haq Abbas2, Ghulam Abbas3, Lei Jiao4, Amna Irshad2, Kyung Sup Kwak5, Muhammad Bilal6,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.2, pp. 1461-1477, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.013743

Abstract In mobile edge computing (MEC), one of the important challenges is how much resources of which mobile edge server (MES) should be allocated to which user equipment (UE). The existing resource allocation schemes only consider CPU as the requested resource and assume utility for MESs as either a random variable or dependent on the requested CPU only. This paper presents a novel comprehensive utility function for resource allocation in MEC. The utility function considers the heterogeneous nature of applications that a UE offloads to MES. The proposed utility function considers all important parameters, including CPU, RAM, hard disk space, required… More >

An IoT-Cloud Based Intelligent Computer-Aided Diagnosis of Diabetic Retinopathy Stage Classification Using Deep Learning Approach

    K. Shankar1,*, Eswaran Perumal1, Mohamed Elhoseny2, Phong Thanh Nguyen3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.2, pp. 1665-1680, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.013251

Abstract Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a disease with an increasing prevalence and the major reason for blindness among working-age population. The possibility of severe vision loss can be extensively reduced by timely diagnosis and treatment. An automated screening for DR has been identified as an effective method for early DR detection, which can decrease the workload associated to manual grading as well as save diagnosis costs and time. Several studies have been carried out to develop automated detection and classification models for DR. This paper presents a new IoT and cloud-based deep learning for healthcare diagnosis of Diabetic Retinopathy (DR). The… More >

A Novel Approach to Data Encryption Based on Matrix Computations

    Rosilah Hassan1, Selver Pepic2, Muzafer Saracevic3, Khaleel Ahmad4,*, Milan Tasic5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.2, pp. 1139-1153, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.013104

Abstract In this paper, we provide a new approach to data encryption using generalized inverses. Encryption is based on the implementation of weighted Moore–Penrose inverse AMN(nxm) over the nx8 constant matrix. The square Hermitian positive definite matrix N8x8 p is the key. The proposed solution represents a very strong key since the number of different variants of positive definite matrices of order 8 is huge. We have provided NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) quality assurance tests for a random generated Hermitian matrix (a total of 10 different tests and additional analysis with approximate entropy and random digression). In the… More >

    Tao Li1, Qi Qian2, Yongjun Ren3,*, Yongzhen Ren4, Jinyue Xia5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 779-791, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.010424

Abstract The application field of the Internet of Things (IoT) involves all aspects, and its application in the fields of industry, agriculture, environment, transportation, logistics, security and other infrastructure has effectively promoted the intelligent development of these aspects. Although the IoT has gradually grown in recent years, there are still many problems that need to be overcome in terms of technology, management, cost, policy, and security. We need to constantly weigh the benefits of trusting IoT products and the risk of leaking private data. To avoid the leakage and loss of various user data, this paper developed a hybrid algorithm of… More >
