    Thongchai Botmart1, Qusain Hiader2, Zulqurnain Sabir3, Muhammad Asif Zahoor Raja4, Wajaree Weera1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 559-573, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.031871

Abstract The goal of this research is to introduce the simulation studies of the vector-host disease nonlinear system (VHDNS) along with the numerical treatment of artificial neural networks (ANNs) techniques supported by Levenberg-Marquardt backpropagation (LMQBP), known as ANNs-LMQBP. This mechanism is physically appropriate, where the number of infected people is increasing along with the limited health services. Furthermore, the biological effects have fading memories and exhibit transition behavior. Initially, the model is developed by considering the two and three categories for the humans and the vector species. The VHDNS is constructed with five classes, susceptible humans , infected humans , recovered… More >

    K. Nithya1,*, V. Rajamani2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 2655-2666, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.027275

Abstract Recent days, Image retrieval has become a tedious process as the image database has grown very larger. The introduction of Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) made this process more comfortable. In these, the pair-wise label similarity is used to find the matching images from the database. But this method lacks of limited propose code and weak execution of misclassified images. In order to get-rid of the above problem, a novel triplet based label that incorporates context-spatial similarity measure is proposed. A Point Attention Based Triplet Network (PABTN) is introduced to study propose code that gives maximum discriminative ability.… More >

    Mayada Tarek1,2,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 2049-2063, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.027139

Abstract Cancellable biometrics is the solution for the trade-off between two concepts: Biometrics for Security and Security for Biometrics. The cancelable template is stored in the authentication system’s database rather than the original biometric data. In case of the database is compromised, it is easy for the template to be canceled and regenerated from the same biometric data. Recoverability of the cancelable template comes from the diversity of the cancelable transformation parameters (cancelable key). Therefore, the cancelable key must be secret to be used in the system authentication process as a second authentication factor in conjunction with the biometric data. The… More >

Unconstrained Hand Dorsal Veins Image Database and Recognition System

    Mustafa M. Al Rifaee1,*, Mohammad M. Abdallah1, Mosa I. Salah2, Ayman M. Abdalla1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 5063-5073, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.030033

Abstract Hand veins can be used effectively in biometric recognition since they are internal organs that, in contrast to fingerprints, are robust under external environment effects such as dirt and paper cuts. Moreover, they form a complex rich shape that is unique, even in identical twins, and allows a high degree of freedom. However, most currently employed hand-based biometric systems rely on hand-touch devices to capture images with the desired quality. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, most hand-based biometric systems have become undesirable due to their possible impact on the spread of the pandemic. Consequently, new contactless hand-based biometric… More >

    Syed Irtaza Haider1, Khursheed Aurangzeb2,*, Musaed Alhussein2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.1, pp. 1501-1526, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.025479

Abstract The accurate segmentation of retinal vessels is a challenging task due to the presence of various pathologies as well as the low-contrast of thin vessels and non-uniform illumination. In recent years, encoder-decoder networks have achieved outstanding performance in retinal vessel segmentation at the cost of high computational complexity. To address the aforementioned challenges and to reduce the computational complexity, we propose a lightweight convolutional neural network (CNN)-based encoder-decoder deep learning model for accurate retinal vessels segmentation. The proposed deep learning model consists of encoder-decoder architecture along with bottleneck layers that consist of depth-wise squeezing, followed by full-convolution, and finally depth-wise… More >

An Efficient Schema Transformation Technique for Data Migration from Relational to Column-Oriented Databases

    Norwini Zaidi1, Iskandar Ishak2,*, Fatimah Sidi2, Lilly Suriani Affendey2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.43, No.3, pp. 1175-1188, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.021969

Abstract Data transformation is the core process in migrating database from relational database to NoSQL database such as column-oriented database. However, there is no standard guideline for data transformation from relational database to NoSQL database. A number of schema transformation techniques have been proposed to improve data transformation process and resulted better query processing time when compared to the relational database query processing time. However, these approaches produced redundant tables in the resulted schema that in turn consume large unnecessary storage size and produce high query processing time due to the generated schema with redundant column families in the transformed column-oriented… More >

A potential impact of A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase DomainLike Protein Decysin-1 (ADAMDEC1) on clear cell renal cell carcinoma propagation

    MAGDALENA RUDZIŃSKA-RADECKA*

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.8, pp. 1893-1901, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.019724

Abstract Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (KIRC) is the most common and aggressive malignancy subtype of renal neoplasm that arises from proximal convoluted tubules. It is characterized by poor clinical outcomes and high mortality of patients due to the lack of specific biomarkers for varying stages of the disease and no effective treatment. Proteases are associated with the development of several malignant tumors in humans by their ability to degrade extracellular matrices, facilitating metastasis. Herein, differentially expressed genes in KIRC cases compared to healthy kidneys were screened out from the Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA) database. This data was applied… More >

Abstract Currently, relational database management systems (RDBMSs) face different challenges in application development due to the massive growth of unstructured and semi-structured data. This introduced new DBMS categories, known as not only structured query language (NoSQL) DBMSs, which do not adhere to the relational model. The migration from relational databases to NoSQL databases is challenging due to the data complexity. This study aims to enhance the storage performance of RDBMSs in handling a variety of data. The paper presents two approaches. The first approach proposes a convenient representation of unstructured data storage. Several extensive experiments were implemented to assess the efficiency… More >
