    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.63, No.3, pp. 1357-1371, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.09929

Abstract As nanoscale processing becomes the mainstream in IC manufacturing, the crosstalk problem rises as a serious challenge, not only for energy-efficiency and performance but also for security requirements. In this paper, we propose a register reallocation algorithm called Nearby Access based Register Reallocation (NARR) to reduce the crosstalk between instruction buses. The method includes construction of the software Nearby Access Aware Interference Graph (NAIG), using data flow analysis at assembly level, and reallocation of the registers to the software. Experimental results show that the crosstalk could be dramatically minimized, especially for 4C crosstalk, with a More >

Energy Efficiency in Internet of Things: An Overview

    Wuxiong Zhang1, 2, Weidong Fang1, 2, *, Qianqian Zhao1, 2, Xiaohong Ji3, Guoqing Jia3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.63, No.2, pp. 787-811, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.07620

Abstract Energy efficiency is very important for the Internet of Things (IoT), especially for front-end sensed terminal or node. It not only embodies the node’s life, but also reflects the lifetime of the network. Meanwhile, it is also a key indicator of green communications. Unfortunately, there is no article on systematic analysis and review for energy efficiency evaluation in IoT. In this paper, we systemically analyze the architecture of IoT, and point out its energy distribution, Furthermore, we summarized the energy consumption model in IoT, analyzed the pros and cons of improving energy efficiency, presented a More >

Analysis of Underlay Cognitive Radio Networks Based on Interference Cancellation Mechanism

    Lei Wang1, Jian Liu1,*, Alan Yang2

Journal of Information Hiding and Privacy Protection, Vol.1, No.3, pp. 119-133, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jihpp.2019.07296

Abstract In this paper, we study the state-dependent interference channel, where the Rayleigh channel is non-causally known at cognitive network. We propose an active secondary transmission mechanism with interference cancellation technique according to the ON-OFF status of primary network. the secondary transmission mechanism is divided into four cases according to the active state of the primary user in the two time slots. For these interference cases, numerical results are provided to show that active interference cancellation mechanism significantly reduces the secondary transmission performance in terms of secondary outage probability and energy efficiency. CPAC: Energy-Efficient Algorithm for IoT Sensor Networks Based on Enhanced Hybrid Intelligent Swarm

    Qi Wang1,*, Wei Liu1, Hualong Yu1, Shang Zheng1, Shang Gao1, Fabrizio Granelli2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.121, No.1, pp. 83-103, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2019.06897

Abstract The wireless sensor network (WSN) is widely employed in the application scenarios of the Internet of Things (IoT) in recent years. Extending the lifetime of the entire system had become a significant challenge due to the energy-constrained fundamental limits of sensor nodes on the perceptual layer of IoT. The clustering routing structures are currently the most popular solution, which can effectively reduce the energy consumption of the entire network and improve its reliability. This paper introduces an enhanced hybrid intelligential algorithm based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) and ant colony optimization (ACO) method. The enhanced More >

Efficient Computation Offloading in Mobile Cloud Computing for Video Streaming Over 5G

Bokyun Jo1, Md. Jalil Piran2,*, Daeho Lee3, Doug Young Suh4,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.61, No.2, pp. 439-463, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.08194

Abstract In this paper, we investigate video quality enhancement using computation offloading to the mobile cloud computing (MCC) environment. Our objective is to reduce the computational complexity required to covert a low-resolution video to high-resolution video while minimizing computation at the mobile client and additional communication costs. To do so, we propose an energy-efficient computation offloading framework for video streaming services in a MCC over the fifth generation (5G) cellular networks. In the proposed framework, the mobile client offloads the computational burden for the video enhancement to the cloud, which renders the side information needed to… More >

    Jin Wang1,2, Chunwei Ju2, Yu Gao2, Arun Kumar Sangaiah3, Gwang-jun Kim4,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.56, No.3, pp. 433-446, 2018, DOI: 10.3970/cmc.2018.04132

Abstract Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are large-scale and high-density networks that typically have coverage area overlap. In addition, a random deployment of sensor nodes cannot fully guarantee coverage of the sensing area, which leads to coverage holes in WSNs. Thus, coverage control plays an important role in WSNs. To alleviate unnecessary energy wastage and improve network performance, we consider both energy efficiency and coverage rate for WSNs. In this paper, we present a novel coverage control algorithm based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). Firstly, the sensor nodes are randomly deployed in a target area and remain More >
