Abstract Fake reviews, also known as deceptive opinions, are used to mislead people and have gained more importance recently. This is due to the rapid increase in online marketing transactions, such as selling and purchasing. E-commerce provides a facility for customers to post reviews and comment about the product or service when purchased. New customers usually go through the posted reviews or comments on the website before making a purchase decision. However, the current challenge is how new individuals can distinguish truthful reviews from fake ones, which later deceive customers, inflict losses, and tarnish the reputation of companies. The present paper… More >

Yonghun Jang, Chang-Hyeon Park, Dong-Gun Lee, Yeong-Seok Seo*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.3, pp. 3563-3579, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.018901

Abstract Following the development of communication techniques and smart devices, the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and big data has arrived. The increased connectivity, referred to as hyper-connectivity, has led to the development of smart cities. People in these smart cities can access numerous online contents and are always connected. These developments, however, also lead to a lack of standardization and consistency in the propagation of information throughout communities due to the consumption of information through social media channels. Information cannot often be verified, which can confuse the users. The increasing influence of social media has thus led to the emergence… More >

DeepFake Videos Detection Based on Texture Features

    Bozhi Xu1, Jiarui Liu1, Jifan Liang1, Wei Lu1,*, Yue Zhang2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 1375-1388, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016760

Abstract In recent years, with the rapid development of deep learning technologies, some neural network models have been applied to generate fake media. DeepFakes, a deep learning based forgery technology, can tamper with the face easily and generate fake videos that are difficult to be distinguished by human eyes. The spread of face manipulation videos is very easy to bring fake information. Therefore, it is important to develop effective detection methods to verify the authenticity of the videos. Due to that it is still challenging for current forgery technologies to generate all facial details and the blending operations are used in… More >

Dealing with the Class Imbalance Problem in the Detection of Fake Job Descriptions

    Minh Thanh Vo1, Anh H. Vo2, Trang Nguyen3, Rohit Sharma4, Tuong Le2,5,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 521-535, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015645

Abstract In recent years, the detection of fake job descriptions has become increasingly necessary because social networking has changed the way people access burgeoning information in the internet age. Identifying fraud in job descriptions can help jobseekers to avoid many of the risks of job hunting. However, the problem of detecting fake job descriptions comes up against the problem of class imbalance when the number of genuine jobs exceeds the number of fake jobs. This causes a reduction in the predictability and performance of traditional machine learning models. We therefore present an efficient framework that uses an oversampling technique called FJD-OT… More >

    Xingwang Ju*

    Journal of Cyber Security, Vol.2, No.4, pp. 197-207, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jcs.2020.014310

Abstract Due to the power of editing tools, new types of fake faces are being created and synthesized, which has attracted great attention on social media. It is reasonable to acknowledge that one human cannot distinguish whether the face is manipulated from the real faces. Therefore, the detection of face manipulation becomes a critical issue in digital media forensics. This paper provides an overview of recent deep learning detection models for face manipulation. Some public dataset used for face manipulation detection is introduced. On this basis, the challenges for the research and the potential future directions are analyzed and discussed. More >

A Survey of GAN-Generated Fake Faces Detection Method Based on Deep Learning

    Xin Liu*, Xiao Chen

Journal of Information Hiding and Privacy Protection, Vol.2, No.2, pp. 87-94, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jihpp.2020.09839

Abstract In recent years, with the rapid growth of generative adversarial networks (GANs), a photo-realistic face can be easily generated from a random vector. Moreover, the faces generated by advanced GANs are very realistic. It is reasonable to acknowledge that even a well-trained viewer has difficulties to distinguish artificial from real faces. Therefore, detecting the face generated by GANs is a necessary work. This paper mainly introduces some methods to detect GAN-generated fake faces, and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of these models based on the network structure and evaluation indexes, and the results obtained in the respective data sets. A Position Self-Adaptive Method to Detect Fake Access Points

    Ping Lu1,2,*

    Journal of Quantum Computing, Vol.2, No.2, pp. 119-127, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jqc.2020.09433

Abstract In recent years, with the maturity and popularity of Wi-Fi technology, wireless hotspots have been deployed on a large scale in public places. But at the same time, it brings many security issues that cannot be ignored. Among them, the fake access point attack is a very serious threat in wireless local area network. In this paper, we propose a method to detect fake access points in wireless local area network. First, our detection method is passive, which means there is almost no additional traffic will be generated during the program’s operation. Second, different from many existing methods, our method… More >

Membrane fluidity regulates high shear stress-induced FAK activation at different subcellular compartments

    FEI XIE1,2, BAOHONG ZHANG1,2, WENFENG XU1, XIAOLING LIAO1,*, QIUHONG HUANG1, BO LIU2,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.41, No.2-3, pp. 45-54, 2017, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2017.41.045

Abstract Focal adhesion kinase (FAK) plays a vital role in mediating the adaptability of tumor cells under mechanical stimuli. Previous studies revealed that FAK can locate to different cell compartments, and its regulation is highly dependent on its subcellular localization. However, the local FAK activities and its regulation mechanism in different cell compartments of tumor cells in response to fluid shear stress are still unclear. In this study, 5 dyn/cm2 and 20 dyn/cm2 of shear stress was applied to HeLa cells for 30 min. The activities of FAK targeting different subcellular compartments (lipids rafts, non-rafts, focal adhesions and cytoplasm) were investigated… More >

Donald F. Ward Jr.*, William A. Williams*, Nicole E. Schapiro*, Samuel R. Christy*, Genevieve L. Weber*, Megan Salt, Robert F. Klees*, Adele Boskey, George E. Plopper ∗,‡

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.4, No.4, pp. 177-188, 2007, DOI:10.3970/mcb.2007.004.177

Abstract Focal adhesion kinase (FAK) is a key integrator of integrin-mediated signals from the extracellular matrix to the cytoskeleton and downstream signaling molecules. FAK is activated by phosphorylation at specific tyrosine residues, which then stimulate downstream signaling including the ERK1/2 pathway, leading to a variety of cellular responses. In this study, we examined the effects of FAK point mutations at tyrosine residues (Y397, Y925, Y861, and Y576/7) on osteogenic differentiation of human mesenchymal stem cells exposed to collagen I and cyclic tensile strain. Our results demonstrate that FAK signaling emanating from Y397, Y925, and to a lesser extent Y576/7, but not… More >
