    Tianyu Li1, Dezhi Han1, Jiatao Li1, Kuan-Ching Li2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.83, No.3, pp. 4117-4140, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.063630 - 19 May 2025

Abstract As is known, centralized federated learning faces risks of a single point of failure and privacy breaches, and blockchain-based federated learning frameworks can address these challenges to a certain extent in recent works. However, malicious clients may still illegally access the blockchain to upload malicious data or steal on-chain data. In addition, blockchain-based federated training suffers from a heavy storage burden and excessive network communication overhead. To address these issues, we propose an asynchronous, tiered federated learning storage scheme based on blockchain and IPFS. It manages the execution of federated learning tasks through smart contracts… More >

Milinda Priyankara Bandara Gamawelagedara1, Mian Usman Sattar1, Raza Hasan2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.83, No.3, pp. 4061-4084, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.062826 - 19 May 2025

Abstract Fuel station drive-offs, wherein the drivers simply drive off without paying, are a major issue in the UK (United Kingdom) due to rising fuel costs and financial hardships. The phenomenon has increased greatly over the last few years, with reports indicating a substantial increase in such events in the major cities. Traditional prevention measures such as Avutec and Driveoffalert rely primarily on expensive infrastructure and blacklisted databases. Such systems typically involve costly camera installation and maintenance and are consequently out of the budget of small fuel stations. These conventional approaches also fall short regarding real-time… More >

    Chunming Tang*, Yu Wang

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.83, No.3, pp. 5115-5128, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.062328 - 19 May 2025

Abstract Image dehazing aims to generate clear images critical for subsequent visual tasks. CNNs have made significant progress in the field of image dehazing. However, due to the inherent limitations of convolution operations, it is challenging to effectively model global context and long-range spatial dependencies effectively. Although the Transformer can address this issue, it faces the challenge of excessive computational requirements. Therefore, we propose the FS-MSFormer network, an asymmetric encoder-decoder architecture that combines the advantages of CNNs and Transformers to improve dehazing performance. Specifically, the encoding process employs two branches for multi-scale feature extraction. One branch… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.21, No.4, pp. 757-782, 2025, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2025.062347 - 06 May 2025

Abstract The paper presents an innovative approach to studying the reuse of a decommissioned natural gas production platform for the seasonal storage and extraction of a hydrogen-methane (H2-CH4) mixture from a depleted reservoir. The reuse plan involves removing outdated equipment from the platform’s decks while retaining essential components such as wellheads and separators. Exploiting a depleted reservoir for the injection of an H2-CH4 mixture requires a thorough understanding of its specific characteristics. This paper focuses on the engineering approach adopted in the basic design phase for such a conversion, providing recommendations and HSE guidelines. Given the hazardous… More >

    LIWEN FENG1,2,#,*, YUTING CHEN3,#, WENYI JIN4

    Oncology Research, Vol.33, No.5, pp. 1091-1103, 2025, DOI:10.32604/or.2024.054207 - 18 April 2025

Abstract Osteosarcoma (OS) is a prevalent primary bone malignancy with limited treatment options. Therefore, it is imperative to investigate and understand the mechanisms underlying OS pathogenesis. Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are markedly abundant in tumor stromal cells and are essentially involved in the modulation of tumor occurrence and development. In recent years, CAFs have become a hotspot as researchers aim to elucidate CAF mechanisms that regulate tumor progression. However, most studies on CAFs are limited to a few common cancers, and their association with OS remains elusive. This review describes the role and current knowledge of CAFs More >

    Chao Luo1, Zhengsong Xiang1,2, Yin Zhou1,*, Dingsong Qin3, Tianlei Cheng4, Qizhi Tang1

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.19, No.3, pp. 683-703, 2025, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2025.061549 - 03 April 2025

Abstract Failure tests were conducted on two concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) truss arch bridges with a span of approximately 12 m to investigate the influence of initial geometric defects on the in-plane bearing capacity of CFST truss arch bridges. The effects of antisymmetric defect on the ultimate bearing capacity, failure mode, structural response, and steel–concrete confinement effect of CFST truss arch bridges under quarter-point loading were analyzed. On this basis, numerical simulations were conducted to investigate the in-plane bearing capacity of CFST truss arch bridges further under different scenarios. The initial defect form of the arch… More >

    Sha Chen1,#, Minkai Cao1,#, Kerong Liu2,*, Ying Gu1,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.49, No.2, pp. 181-198, 2025, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2025.058745 - 28 February 2025

Abstract The increasing prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is associated with an array of pregnancy complications and enduring health challenges in both mothers and their offspring. Studies have indicated that exposure to the intrauterine environment can prompt adaptations in the offspring, thereby programming transgenerational inheritance. Physical activity during pregnancy, as a non-pharmacological intervention, mitigates metabolic risks through epigenetic modifications, mediating placental adaptations, the action of exercise factors, and gut microbiota. Here, we provide a review summarizing how regular exercise can reduce the risk of GDM and positively influence pregnancy outcomes. It also discusses the exercise-induced More >
