    Inkjet-printed Myoglobin based H2S Sensor

    KANCHANA M1, RAJASEKARAN E2, KUMAR B1, USHA ANTONY3

    Journal of Polymer Materials, Vol.38, No.3-4, pp. 309-325, 2021, DOI:10.32381/JPM.2021.38.3-4.11

Abstract The objective of this research work is to investigate the feasibility of fabricating bio-based visual sensor indicators to detect the presence of H2S using inkjet printing. Myoglobin and chitosan were used as indicating and immobilizing materials respectively. 30 mg of myoglobin dissolved in 1 mL of tris buffer with 10% glycerol gave optimum jettability properties. Similarly, drop formation was optimal for 0.50% m/v chitosan solution diluted to 10 cP viscosity. The samples were fabricated in layer-by-layer approach and indicator with 2 layers of chitosan and 4 layers of myoglobin gave maximum sensitivity with 14.42 for 0.7 mg/L of H2S. The… More >

The therapeutic mechanism of dexamethasone in lung injury induced by hydrogen sulfide

    CHUNYANG XU1,#, CAIYUN YANG1,#, JINSONG ZHANG2, XIAOHUA PAN3, JUN WANG4, LEI JIANG2, HONGWEI YE1,*, BO CHEN1,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.47, No.9, pp. 2027-2035, 2023, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2023.029277

Abstract Background: The lung is one of the primary target organs of hydrogen sulfide (H2S), as exposure to H2S can cause acute lung injury (ALI) and pulmonary edema. Dexamethasone (Dex) exerts a protective effect on ALI caused by exposure to toxic gases and is commonly used in the clinic; however, the underlying mechanisms remain elusive, and the dose is unclear. Methods: In vivo experiments: divided C57BL6 mice into 6 groups at random, 12 in each group. The mice were exposed to H2S for 3 h and 5 or 50 mg/kg Dex pretreated before exposure, sacrificed 12 h later. The morphological changes… More >

Elemental sulfur upregulated testicular testosterone biosynthesis by associating with altered gut microbiota in mice

    YUAN BI1,2,#, TIANQI LI2,#, HONGJIE PAN2, MING GUO2, LIANGKANG CHEN2, QI QI1, MEIXIN ZHANG2, LINGLING ZHANG2, LININ YU2, XIAOFENG WAN2, HUAJUN ZHENG2,*, RUNSHENG LI2,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 301-313, 2020, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2020.011208

Abstract Elemental sulfur has been used as a traditional Chinese medicine to treat the late-onset hypogonadism and impotence without a clarified mechanism for many hundreds of years. In the present study, mice were received sulfur or distilled water for 35 days by daily intragastric gavage at a dose of 250 mg/kg body weight. Then, the serum testosterone level and genes associated with testicular testosterone biosynthesis (TTB) were detected. The gut microbiota was also analyzed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Serum testosterone level was significantly increased by 291.1% in sulfur-treated mice. The H2S levels in serum and feces were significantly increased. The… More >

Experimental Study on Mechanical Properties Degradation of TP110TS Tube Steel in High H2S Corrosive Environment

    Deli Gao1, Zengxin Zhao2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.26, No.2, pp. 157-166, 2011, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2011.026.157

Abstract The research on casing corrosion in sour environment by a synergism of sweet corrosion and H2S corrosion has become the basis of casing selection and casing string safety evaluation with more and more sour reservoirs containing high H2S concentration being developed. It is essential to scientifically utilize casing service ability and reasonably control production rate of gas well to achieve the effective and safe developing of gas resources during the safety period of casing service with a precise casing life prediction. Scanning electron microscopy and tensile testing were applied to investigate the corrosion of TP110TS tube steel in stimulant solution… More >
