SONIA MORETTI, FLAVIA MANCINI, ALESSANDRA BORSETTI*

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.12, pp. 2695-2699, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.022257

Abstract Direct-acting antiviral (DAA) therapies are efficacious for the achievement of sustained virologic response (SVR) in almost all treated hepatitis C virus (HCV)-infected patients. However, the impacts of HCV eradication on immune function and chronic immune activation in the long-term remain controversial and limited, especially in patients co-infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Indeed, although restoration of many immune responses clearly can be observed, several features of immune perturbations persist over time after HCV clearance. Understanding the degree and reasons of the partial recovery of the immune system in chronic HCV/HIV co-infection after HCV elimination is pivotal to avoid disease progression… More >

Abstract In this paper, Haar collocation algorithm is developed for the solution of first-order of HIV infection CD4+ T-Cells model. In this technique, the derivative in the nonlinear model is approximated by utilizing Haar functions. The value of the unknown function is obtained by the process of integration. Error estimation is also discussed, which aims to reduce the error of numerical solutions. The numerical results show that the method is simply applicable. The results are compared with Runge-Kutta technique, Bessel collocation technique, LADM-Pade and Galerkin technique available in the literature. The results show that the Haar technique is easy, precise and… More >

    Juanli Wang1, Ming Cao2, Jiaxin Li1, Kaiyuan Li1, Xiaolian Chao1, Bingjie Mai1, Yuhu Li1,*, Jing Cao1,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.4, pp. 1125-1136, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.018147

Abstract Paper packaging materials like cardboards are widely used to protect archives which are a major kind of cultural relics. Unfortunately, paper is a combustible material, and thus exploring environment-friendly flame retardant for paper-based archive packaging material plays an important role. Herein, boric acid, borax and disodium octaborate are used to modify the craft paper-based packaging materials for archive conservation to improve fire safety. The modified craft paper exhibits much higher flame retardancy than the pristine one dose based on vertical burning tests, without much influence on mechanical properties such as tensile strength and elongation at break. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning… More > Graphic Abstract
