Long noncoding RNA LINC02568 sequesters microRNA-874-3p to facilitate malignancy in breast cancer cells via cyclin E1 overexpression

    YI DONG1, LIANBO ZHANG2, XIN GUAN3, TAO LIU1, LIMIN ZHOU1,*

    Oncology Research, Vol.29, No.4, pp. 291-303, 2021, DOI:10.32604/or.2022.025172

Abstract Increasing numbers of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are implicated in breast cancer oncogenicity. However, the contribution of LINC02568 toward breast cancer progression remains unclear and requires further investigation. Herein, we evaluated LINC02568 expression in breast cancer and clarified its effect on disease malignancy. We also investigated the mechanisms underlying the pro-oncogenic role of LINC02568. Consequently, LINC02568 was upregulated in breast cancer samples, with a notable association with worse overall survival. Functionally, depleted LINC02568 suppressed cell proliferation, colony formation, and metastasis, whereas LINC02568 overexpression exerted the opposite effects. Our mechanistic investigations suggested that LINC02568 was physically bound to and sequestered microRNA-874-3p… More >

Nonprecsion (Standard) Psychosocial Interventions for the Treatment of Mental Disorders

    Alan E. Kazdin*

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.24, No.4, pp. 457-473, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ijmhp.2022.022522

Abstract Advances in precision treatment promise to greatly improve the extent to which therapies for mental disorders are better matched to patient characteristics. At the same, we need to ensure that more readily disseminable and available nonprecison treatments are further developed as well. These treatments refer to standardized interventions that do not have to be individualized and are more readily available. Impetus for this call stems from the treatment gap, namely, the huge difference in the proportion of individuals who are in need of mental health services and who actually receive any form of treatment. The prevalence rates for mental disorders… More >

An Exploratory Investigation of Difficulties in Applying Functional Behavior Assessment and Implementing Behavioral Intervention Plans in ADHD Programs in Saudi Arabia

    Abdulrahman Abdullah Abaoud*

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.24, No.4, pp. 595-601, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ijmhp.2022.021286

Abstract Functional behavior assessment (FBA) and behavioral intervention plans (BIPs) can be effective for students with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD); however, teachers may face difficulties when implementing FBA procedures and, in turn, BIPs because of lack of time, insufficient training, and multiplicity of beliefs. Thus, it is important to identify the difficulties teachers may face and the obstacles that can deter them from implementing intervention plans. This is a worthwhile endeavor because nearly all classrooms will have students with behavioral problems who will benefit from specifically designed educational interventions. This study aimed to identify the difficulties in applying FBA and… More >

    Mengxian Zhao1, Yonghao You2, Jinming Li3, Sean Healy4, Alyx Taylor5, Zhihao Zhang3, Linlin Li6, Liye Zou7,*

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.24, No.4, pp. 475-489, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ijmhp.2022.021361

Abstract Therapeutic horseback riding (THR) as an animal-assisted intervention is one of the innovative approaches emerging in the treatment for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The current study was designed to investigate the effects of a 12-week, twice a week THR program on motor skills in sixty-eight children with ASD aged 5–10 years old. All participants selected met the DSM-V criteria for ASD, and a total of fifty-three participants completed the study. A randomized controlled trial design was utilized for the study. Data was collected via a pre-THR test, interim-THR test, and post-THR test to investigate the possible changes in… More >

Mid-Term Preliminary Results for Safety and Patency of the Occlutech Atrial Flow Regulator in an Animal Model

    Kamel Shibbani1, Daniel McLennan2, Dunbar Ivy3, Gareth Morgan3,*

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.17, No.3, pp. 269-280, 2022, DOI:10.32604/chd.2022.019973

Abstract Objective: The Atrial Flow Regulator (AFR) is a double disc device made of self-expanding Nitinol wire mesh, structured around a central lumen. Once deployed via the transfemoral route, the device stents the atrial septum leaving a preselected fixed diameter atrial communication. We sought to evaluate the mid-term performance of the AFR by implanting the device in 5 healthy porcine hearts to assess safety and patency of the device fenestration over a period of 150 days. Method: Five AFR devices were implanted in 5 female Yucatan adult minipigs. The animals were survived to 150 days with periodic assessments at days +3,… More > Graphic Abstract

A Hybrid Grey DEMATEL and PLS-SEM Model to Investigate COVID-19 Vaccination Intention

    Phi-Hung Nguyen1,2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.3, pp. 5059-5078, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.027630

Abstract The main objective of this study is to comprehensively investigate individuals’ vaccination intention against COVID-19 during the second wave of COVID-19 spread in Vietnam using a novel hybrid approach. First, the Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory based on Grey Theory (DEMATEL-G) was employed to explore the critical factors of vaccination intention among individuals. Second, Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was applied to test the hypotheses of individual behavioral intention to get the vaccine to prevent the outbreak of COVID-19. A panel of 661 valid respondents was collected from June 2021 to July 2021, and confidentiality was maintained for all… More >
