    Zhilong He1,#, Jing Qin1,#, Sixuan Wu2,#, Xian Liang1, Yu Liu1, Jinfeng Qiu1, Zhimin Li2,*, Kai Hu1,*

    Oncology Research, Vol.34, No.2, 2026, DOI:10.32604/or.2025.070567 - 19 January 2026

Abstract Objective: The contribution of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) associated with protein palmitoylation to the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains largely unclear. This study sought to establish a prognostic signature based on palmitoylation-related lncRNAs and explore their functional implications in HCC. Methods: RNA sequencing and clinical data for HCC and normal tissues were sourced from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Pearson correlation analysis was used to identify lncRNAs that were co-expressed with palmitoylation-related genes. Univariate Cox regression was applied to select lncRNAs with prognostic value, followed by the construction of a predictive model using the… More >

RP11-Derived Long Non-Coding RNAs in Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Hidden Treasures in Plain Sight

Se Ha Jang1,2,#, Hyung Seok Kim3,#, Jung Woo Eun1,*

    Oncology Research, Vol.34, No.1, 2026, DOI:10.32604/or.2025.072240 - 30 December 2025

Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains one of the most prevalent and lethal malignancies worldwide. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have emerged as crucial regulators of gene expression and cancer progression, yet the functional diversity of RP11-derived lncRNAs—originally mapped to bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) clones from the Roswell Park Cancer Institute—has only recently begun to be appreciated. This mini-review aims to systematically synthesize current findings on RP11-derived lncRNAs in HCC, outlining their genomic origins, molecular mechanisms, and biological significance. We highlight their roles in metabolic reprogramming, microRNA network modulation, and tumor progression, as well as their diagnostic and More >

    Oncology Research, Vol.33, No.12, pp. 4093-4111, 2025, DOI:10.32604/or.2025.068313 - 27 November 2025

Abstract Objectives: Glioblastoma is a prevalent malignant brain tumor, and the actions of the long non-coding RNA HOXA10-AS in its invasion and migration remain unclear. Here, the function of HOXA10-AS in glioblastoma cell invasion and migration and associated mechanisms were investigated. Methods: HOXA10-AS was knocked down in glioblastoma cells, and Transwell and wound healing assays were conducted to elucidate its impacts on cell invasion and migration. Western blotting and quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) assessed HOXA10-AS’s impact on the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Microarray analysis identified differentially expressed genes, complemented by bioinformatics approaches to explore… More >

Yuhan Wang, Yimei Meng, Wanqiu Xia, Yusen Liang, Yaru Wang, Peiling Li*, Lei Fang*

    Oncology Research, Vol.33, No.8, pp. 2141-2159, 2025, DOI:10.32604/or.2025.064367 - 18 July 2025

Abstract Background: Ovarian cancer (OC) is a representative malignancy of the female reproductive system, with a poor prognosis. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) crucially affect tumor development. This study aimed to identify lncRNAs that potentially participated in OC. Methods: LncRNA expression in cells and tissues was quantified using reverse transcription-quantitative PCR, while fluorescence in situ hybridization determined their cellular localization. Various in vitro assays, together with a mouse xenograft model, were employed to elucidate the function of CYMP antisense RNA 1 (CYMP-AS1) in OC. The molecular mechanisms underlying CYMP-AS1 regulation were investigated through RNA pull-down and immunoprecipitation assays, immunofluorescence… More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract Background: Drug resistance is the main factor contributing to cancer recurrence and poor prognosis. Exploration of drug resistance-related mechanisms and effective therapeutic targets are the aim of molecular targeted therapy. In our study, the role of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) AFAP1-AS1 in gemcitabine resistance and related mechanisms were explored in cervical cancer cells. Methods: Gemcitabine-resistant cervical cancer cell lines HT-3-Gem and SW756-Gem were constructed using the gemcitabine concentration gradient method. The overall survival rates and recurrence-free survival rates were evaluated by Kaplan-Meier analysis. The interaction was verified through a Dual-luciferase reporter gene assay and a… More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is one of the most prevalent forms of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC) with a poor overall survival rate (about 50%), particularly in cases of metastasis. RNA-based cancer biomarkers are a relatively advanced concept, and non-coding RNAs currently have shown promising roles in the detection and treatment of various malignancies. This review underlines the function of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in the OSCC and its subsequent clinical implications. LncRNAs, a class of non-coding RNAs, are larger than 200 nucleotides and resemble mRNA in numerous ways. However, unlike mRNA,… More >

Abstract Background: Long non-coding RNAs are important regulators in cancer biology and function either as tumor suppressors or as oncogenes. Their dysregulation has been closely associated with tumorigenesis. LINC00265 is upregulated in lung adenocarcinoma and is a prognostic biomarker of this cancer. However, the mechanism underlying its function in cancer progression remains poorly understood. Methods: Here, the regulatory role of LINC00265 in lung adenocarcinoma was examined using lung cancer cell lines, clinical samples, and xenografts. Results: We found that high levels of LINC00265 expression were associated with shorter overall survival rate of patients, whereas knockdown of LINC00265 inhibited proliferation… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.47, No.12, pp. 2721-2733, 2023, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2023.043869 - 27 December 2023

Abstract Objective: This investigation aimed to unveil new prospective diagnosis-related biomarkers together with treatment targets against glioblastoma. Methods: The expression levels of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) DPP10-AS1 were assessed using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) within both the patient tissue specimens and glioblastoma cell lines. The relationship between lncRNA DPP10-AS1 expression in glioblastoma and patient prognosis was investigated. Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), transwell, and clonogenic experiments were utilized to assess tumor cells’ proliferation, invasiveness, and migratory potentials after lncRNA DPP10-AS1 expression was up or down-regulated. Using an online bioinformatics prediction tool, the intracellular localization of lncRNA… More >
