    Maysaa Al-Qurashi1, Ayesha Siddiqa2, Shazia Karim3, Yu-Ming Chu4,5,*, Saima Rashid2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.145, No.2, pp. 2057-2129, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2025.071629 - 26 November 2025

Abstract Chikungunya is a mosquito-borne viral infection caused by the chikungunya virus (CHIKV). It is characterized by acute onset of high fever, severe polyarthralgia, myalgia, headache, and maculopapular rash. The virus is rapidly spreading and may establish in new regions where competent mosquito vectors are present. This research analyzes the regulatory dynamics of a stochastic differential equation (SDE) model describing the transmission of the CHIKV, incorporating seasonal variations, immunization efforts, and environmental fluctuations modeled through Poisson random measure noise under demographic heterogeneity. The model guarantees the existence of a global positive solution and demonstrates periodic dynamics… More >

    Mahesh Kumar1, Rahool Rai2,*, Sudhakar Kumarasamy2,3,4,*

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.23, No.5, pp. 1477-1493, 2025, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2025.067933 - 31 October 2025

Abstract The increasing demand due to development and advancement in every field of life has caused the depletion of fossil fuels. This depleting fossil fuel reserve throughout the world has enforced to get energy from alternative/renewable sources. One of the economical ways to get energy is through the utilization of solar ponds. In this study, a mathematical model of a salt gradient solar pond under the Islamabad climatic conditions has been analyzed for the first time. The model uses a one-dimensional finite difference explicit method for optimization of different zone thicknesses. The model depicts that NCZ More >

Two-Dimensional Mathematical Modeling of Gas Hydrate Dissociation with a Nonlinear Forchheimer-Type Filtration Law

    Ahmed Bakeer1, Grigory Kazakevich2, Viktoriia Podryga3,*, Yury Poveshchenko3, Parvin Rahimly3

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.23, No.5, pp. 1575-1593, 2025, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2025.067097 - 31 October 2025

Abstract The work considers the problem of gas hydrate dissociation in a porous medium using the two-term Forchheimer law, corresponding to high flow rates of reservoir fluids. Such rates can arise during the decomposition of gas hydrates, since a large amount of gas is released. Intensive emissions of gases from the earth’s interior are observed on the ocean floor. They are also associated with a large number of subvertical geological structures under the ocean floor, coming to the surface in the form of local ring funnels (pockmarks). Many similar objects have also been found on land.… More >

    Leonid Plotnikov1,*, Danil Davydov1,2, Dmitry Krasilnikov1,2, Alexander Ryzhkov2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.122, No.11, pp. 4621-4633, 2025, DOI:10.32604/ee.2025.070713 - 27 October 2025

Abstract Improving the specific, technical, economic, and environmental characteristics of piston engines (ICE) operating on alternative gaseous fuels is a pressing task for the energy and mechanical engineering industries. The aim of the study was to optimize the parameters of the ICE working cycle after replacing the base fuel (propane-butane blend) with syngas from wood sawdust to improve its technical and economic performance based on mathematical modeling. The modeling results were verified through experimental studies (differences for key parameters did not exceed 4.0%). The object of the study was an electric generator based on a single-cylinder… More >

Abstract Malaria is a significant global health challenge. This devastating disease continues to affect millions, especially in tropical regions. It is caused by Plasmodium parasites transmitted by female Anopheles mosquitoes. This study introduces a nonlinear mathematical model for examining the transmission dynamics of malaria, incorporating both human and mosquito populations. We aim to identify the key factors driving the endemic spread of malaria, determine feasible solutions, and provide insights that lead to the development of effective prevention and management strategies. We derive the basic reproductive number employing the next-generation matrix approach and identify the disease-free and… More >

Feasibility of Using Optimal Control Theory and Training-Performance Model to Design Optimal Training Programs for Athletes

    Yi Yang, Che-Yu Lin*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.143, No.3, pp. 2767-2783, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2025.064459 - 30 June 2025

Abstract In order to help athletes optimize their performances in competitions while prevent overtraining and the risk of overuse injuries, it is important to develop science-based strategies for optimally designing training programs. The purpose of the present study is to develop a novel method by the combined use of optimal control theory and a training-performance model for designing optimal training programs, with the hope of helping athletes achieve the best performance exactly on the competition day while properly manage training load during the training course for preventing overtraining. The training-performance model used in the proposed optimal… More >

Abstract Asthma is the most common allergic disorder and represents a significant global public health problem. Strong evidence suggests a link between ascariasis and asthma. This study aims primarily to determine the prevalence of Ascaris lumbricoides infection among various risk factors, to assess blood parameters, levels of immunoglobulin E (IgE) and interleukin-4 (IL-4), and to explore the relationship between ascariasis and asthma in affected individuals. The secondary objective is to examine a fractal-fractional mathematical model that describes the four stages of the life cycle of Ascaris infection, specifically within the framework of the Caputo-Fabrizio derivative. Ali Raza1,2,*, Feliz Minhós2,3,*, Umar Shafique4, Muhammad Mohsin5

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.143, No.3, pp. 3411-3431, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2025.060855 - 30 June 2025

Abstract In 2022, Leukemia is the 13th most common diagnosis of cancer globally as per the source of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). Leukemia is still a threat and challenge for all regions because of 46.6% infection in Asia, and 22.1% and 14.7% infection rates in Europe and North America, respectively. To study the dynamics of Leukemia, the population of cells has been divided into three subpopulations of cells susceptible cells, infected cells, and immune cells. To investigate the memory effects and uncertainty in disease progression, leukemia modeling is developed using stochastic fractional… More >

    Seham M. AL-Mekhlafi1,*, Kamal R. Raslan2, Khalid K. Ali2, Sadam. H. Alssad2,3, Nehaya R. Alsenaideh4

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.143, No.2, pp. 1927-1953, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2025.063971 - 30 May 2025

Abstract This study introduces a novel mathematical model to describe the progression of cholera by integrating fractional derivatives with both singular and non-singular kernels alongside stochastic differential equations over four distinct time intervals. The model incorporates three key fractional derivatives: the Caputo-Fabrizio fractional derivative with a non-singular kernel, the Caputo proportional constant fractional derivative with a singular kernel, and the Atangana-Baleanu fractional derivative with a non-singular kernel. We analyze the stability of the core model and apply various numerical methods to approximate the proposed crossover model. To achieve this, the approximation of Caputo proportional constant fractional… More >
