    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.1, pp. 213-225, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05601

Abstract The rapid spread of microblog messages and sensitivity of unexpected events make microblog become the public opinion center of burst events. Online burst events detection oriented real-time microblog message stream has become an important research problem in the field of microblog public opinion. Because of the large amount of real-time microblog message stream and irregular language of microblog message, it is important to process real-time microblog message stream and detect burst events accurately. In this paper, an online burst events detection framework is proposed. In this framework, abnormal messages are detected based on sliding time More >

Application of Image Compression to Multiple-Shot Pictures Using Similarity Norms With Three Level Blurring

    Mohammed Omari1,*, Souleymane Ouled Jaafri1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.59, No.3, pp. 753-775, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.06576

Abstract Image compression is a process based on reducing the redundancy of the image to be stored or transmitted in an efficient form. In this work, a new idea is proposed, where we take advantage of the redundancy that appears in a group of images to be all compressed together, instead of compressing each image by itself. In our proposed technique, a classification process is applied, where the set of the input images are classified into groups based on existing technique like L1 and L2 norms, color histograms. All images that belong to the same group are More >

Detecting Iris Liveness with Batch Normalized Convolutional Neural Network

    Min Long1,2,*, Yan Zeng1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.58, No.2, pp. 493-504, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.04378

Abstract Aim to countermeasure the presentation attack for iris recognition system, an iris liveness detection scheme based on batch normalized convolutional neural network (BNCNN) is proposed to improve the reliability of the iris authentication system. The BNCNN architecture with eighteen layers is constructed to detect the genuine iris and fake iris, including convolutional layer, batch-normalized (BN) layer, Relu layer, pooling layer and full connected layer. The iris image is first preprocessed by iris segmentation and is normalized to 256×256 pixels, and then the iris features are extracted by BNCNN. With these features, the genuine iris and More >

Normalization of Elevated Tumor Marker CA27-29 After Bilateral Lung Transplantation in a Patient With Breast Cancer and Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis

Mehmet Sitki Copur*†, Julie Marie Wurdeman, Debra Nelson*, Ryan Ramaekers*, Dron Gauchan*, David Crockett*

    Oncology Research, Vol.26, No.3, pp. 515-518, 2018, DOI:10.3727/096504017X15128550060375

Abstract Solid tumors involving glandular organs express mucin glycoprotein that is eventually shed into the circulation. As a result, these proteins can easily be measured in the serum and be used as potential tumor markers. The most commonly used tumor markers for breast cancer are CA27-29 and CA15-3, which both measure the glycoprotein product of the mucin-1 (MUC1) gene. CA27-29 has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for monitoring disease activity in breast cancer patients. Most oncology clinical practice guidelines do not recommend the use of tumor markers for routine surveillance of early… More >

Prediction and Abnormality Assertion on Emu Brake Pad Based on Multivariate Integrated Random Walk

    Hongsheng Su1,2,∗, Shuangshuang Wang1, Dengfei Wang2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.33, No.5, pp. 351-360, 2018, DOI:10.32604/csse.2018.33.351

Abstract To better solve the issue with abnormal failure of electric motor unit (EMU) brake pad resulted from various random factors in the ever-changing operating environment, in this paper, a new evaluation method of performance prediction and abnormity decision is proposed based on the Multivariate integrated random walk (MIRW) model. In this method, the state space model of the EMU brake pad performance degradation is firstly established. And then based on the observed data, the brake pad performance degradation trend is extracted by the fixed interval forward - backward smoothing algorithm. Based on it, the future… More >

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.13, No.3, pp. 463-469, 2018, DOI:10.1111/chd.12597

Abstract Introduction: We sought to evaluate the prevalence of delayed puberty and abnormal anthropometry and its association with quality of life (QoL) in young Fontan survivors.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study at 11 Pediatric Heart Network centers. Demographic and clinical data, anthropomety, and Tanner stage were collected. Anthropometric measurements and pubertal stage were compared to US norms. QoL was assessed using Pediatric Quality of Life inventory (PedsQL). Mixed effects regression modeling adjusting for clustering by center was used to evaluate factors associated with abnormal anthropometry and delayed puberty and associations with QoL.
Results: Of the 299 subjects, 42%… More >

The Reduced Space Method for Calculating the Periodic Solution of Nonlinear Systems

    Haitao Liao1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.115, No.2, pp. 233-262, 2018, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2018.01004

Abstract A hybrid method combined the reduced Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP) method with the harmonic balance method has been developed to analyze the characteristics of mode localization and internal resonance of nonlinear bladed disks. With the aid of harmonic balance method, the nonlinear equality constraints for the constrained optimization problem are constructed. The reduced SQP method is then utilized to deal with the original constrained optimization problem. Applying the null space decomposition technique to the harmonic balance algebraic equations results in the vanishing of the nonlinear equality constraints and a simple optimization problem involving only upper More >
