Meta-analysis of the cell cycle related C12orf48

    LOKMAN VARISLI

    BIOCELL, Vol.37, No.1, pp. 11-16, 2013, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2013.37.011

Abstract The cell cycle is a conserved process from yeast to mammals and focuses on mechanisms that regulate the timing and frequency of DNA replication and cell division. The temporal and spatial expression of the genes is tightly regulated to ensure accurate replication and transmission of DNA to daughter cells during the cycle. Although the genes involved in interphase are well studied, most of the genes which are involved in mitotic events still remain unidentified. Since, the discovery of mitosis related genes is still incomplete, we performed a co-expression and gene ontology analysis for revealing novel mitosis regulated genes. In this… More >

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) induces autophagy in osteoblast precursor 3T3-L1

Sergio Andrés CARMINATI1,2, María Carolina BARBOSA2, Claudio Marcelo FADER1,2*

    BIOCELL, Vol.42, No.1, pp. 13-16, 2018, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2018.07008

Abstract Autophagy is an essential cellular homeostatic mechanism by which intracellular components are delivered into the lysosomes for degradation and recycling. Autophagy has been related with a diversity of pathological or physiological dentary processes such as bone remodeling, skeletal aging, osteoclastogenesis, osteoblastogenesis and different types of oral cancer. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), isolated from autologous blood, is a plasma preparation containing a higher concentration of platelets which contains numerous different growth factors and cytokines that activate several cellular signaling cascades. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of PRP on autophagy stimulation in both osteoblast precursor 3T3-L1 and non-related… More >

The Search for Biological Quantum Computer Elements

    Wolfgang Baer1, Rita Pizzi2

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.6, No.1, pp. 51-71, 2008, DOI:10.3970/icces.2008.006.051

Abstract The difficulties encountered in explaining the capacities of the human brain to generate conscious experiences with a neuron switching model has lead researchers to speculate that quantum phenomena may be involved in the human thinking process. This speculation goes beyond acknowledgement of the quantum mechanical basis for bio-molecular chemistry but suggests the architecture of brain functioning parallels the architecture of quantum computers. In this model classically observed neural components act like transmitting and receiving channels to quantum elements analogous to the state-preparation and measurement components in quantum computer architectures. Theories proposed by Penrose and Hameroff suggest such quantum element fields… More >

Application of Ontology in the Web Information Retrieval

    Zimeng Xing1, Lina Wang1,*, Wenbo Xing2, Yongjun Ren3, Tao Li4, Jinyue Xia5

    Journal on Big Data, Vol.1, No.2, pp. 79-88, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jbd.2019.05806

Abstract In this paper, the research advances of ontology and its application are reviewed firstly. With the development of ontology technology, subject-oriented web information retrieval technology combining ontology has been becoming one of the hot scientific issues. The innovative method of the semantic web technology combined with the traditional information retrieval technology is put forward, and the related algorithm based on ontology for judging the relevancy with different topics is also represented, and has proved to be effective in given experiments. Dun Li1, Hong Wu1, Jinzhu Gao2, Zhuoyun Liu1, Lun Li1, Zhiyun Zheng1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.61, No.1, pp. 301-321, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05953

Abstract With the rapid development of the semantic web and the ever-growing size of uncertain data, representing and reasoning uncertain information has become a great challenge for the semantic web application developers. In this paper, we present a novel reasoning framework based on the representation of fuzzy PR-OWL. Firstly, the paper gives an overview of the previous research work on uncertainty knowledge representation and reasoning, incorporates Ontology into the fuzzy Multi Entity Bayesian Networks theory, and introduces fuzzy PR-OWL, an Ontology language based on OWL2. Fuzzy PR-OWL describes fuzzy semantics and uncertain relations and gives grammatical definition and semantic interpretation. Secondly,… More >

Dynamic Trust Model Based on Service Recommendation in Big Data

    Gang Wang1,*, Mengjuan Liu2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.58, No.3, pp. 845-857, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.03678

Abstract In big data of business service or transaction, it is impossible to provide entire information to both of services from cyber system, so some service providers made use of maliciously services to get more interests. Trust management is an effective solution to deal with these malicious actions. This paper gave a trust computing model based on service-recommendation in big data. This model takes into account difference of recommendation trust between familiar node and stranger node. Thus, to ensure accuracy of recommending trust computing, paper proposed a fine-granularity similarity computing method based on the similarity of service concept domain ontology. This… More >

Inverted XML Access Control Model Based on Ontology Semantic Dependency

    Meijuan Wang1,2,*, Jian Wang1, Lihong Guo1,3, Lein Harn4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.55, No.3, pp. 465-482, 2018, DOI: 10.3970/cmc.2018.02568

Abstract In the era of big data, the conflict between data mining and data privacy protection is increasing day by day. Traditional information security focuses on protecting the security of attribute values without semantic association. The data privacy of big data is mainly reflected in the effective use of data without exposing the user’s sensitive information. Considering the semantic association, reasonable security access for privacy protect is required. Semi-structured and self-descriptive XML (eXtensible Markup Language) has become a common form of data organization for database management in big data environments. Based on the semantic integration nature of XML data, this paper… More >
