An Optimized Framework for Surgical Team Selection

    Hemant Petwal*, Rinkle Rani

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.2, pp. 2563-2582, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017548

Abstract In the healthcare system, a surgical team is a unit of experienced personnel who provide medical care to surgical patients during surgery. Selecting a surgical team is challenging for a multispecialty hospital as the performance of its members affects the efficiency and reliability of the hospital’s patient care. The effectiveness of a surgical team depends not only on its individual members but also on the coordination among them. In this paper, we addressed the challenges of surgical team selection faced by a multispecialty hospital and proposed a decision-making framework for selecting the optimal list of surgical teams for a given… More >

Ensemble Based Temporal Weighting and Pareto Ranking (ETP) Model for Effective Root Cause Analysis

    Naveen Kumar Seerangan1,*, S. Vijayaragavan Shanmugam2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.1, pp. 819-830, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.012135

Abstract Root-cause identification plays a vital role in business decision making by providing effective future directions for the organizations. Aspect extraction and sentiment extraction plays a vital role in identifying the root-causes. This paper proposes the Ensemble based temporal weighting and pareto ranking (ETP) model for Root-cause identification. Aspect extraction is performed based on rules and is followed by opinion identification using the proposed boosted ensemble model. The obtained aspects are validated and ranked using the proposed aspect weighing scheme. Pareto-rule based aspect selection is performed as the final selection mechanism and the results are presented for business decision making. Experiments… More >

    Abdelaziz Alsubie1, Mostafa Abdelhamid2, Abdul Hadi N. Ahmed2, Mohammed Alqawba3, Ahmed Z. Afify4,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.29, No.1, pp. 213-232, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.018111

Abstract In this paper, the estimation of the parameters of extended Marshall-Olkin inverse-Pareto (EMOIP) distribution is studied under complete and censored samples. Five classical methods of estimation are adopted to estimate the parameters of the EMOIP distribution from complete samples. These classical estimators include the percentiles estimators, maximum likelihood estimators, least squares estimators, maximum product spacing estimators, and weighted least-squares estimators. The likelihood estimators of the parameters under type-I and type-II censoring schemes are discussed. Simulation results were conducted, for various parameter combinations and different sample sizes, to compare the performance of the EMOIP estimation methods under complete and censored samples.… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.126, No.1, pp. 241-259, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.013368

Abstract The purpose of this research is to obtain the optimum cutting parameters to achieve the dimensional accuracy of Nimonic alloy miniature gear manufactured using Wire EDM. The cutting parameters investigated in this study are current, pulse on time (PON), pulse off time (POFF), wire tension (WT) and dielectric fluids. Ethylene glycol, nanopowder of alumina and oxygen are mixed to demineralized water to prepare novel dielectric fluids. Deviation in inner diameter, deviation in outer diameter, deviation in land and deviation in tooth width are considered to check the dimensional accuracy. Taguchi L16 is employed for experimental design and multiple response optimization… More >

Estimation of the Stress-Strength Reliability for Exponentiated Pareto Distribution Using Median and Ranked Set Sampling Methods

    Amer Ibrahim Al-Omari1, *, Ibrahim M. Almanjahie2, Amal S. Hassan3, Heba F. Nagy4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.64, No.2, pp. 835-857, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.10944

Abstract In reliability analysis, the stress-strength model is often used to describe the life of a component which has a random strength (X) and is subjected to a random stress (Y). In this paper, we considered the problem of estimating the reliability R=P [Y<X] when the distributions of both stress and strength are independent and follow exponentiated Pareto distribution. The maximum likelihood estimator of the stress strength reliability is calculated under simple random sample, ranked set sampling and median ranked set sampling methods. Four different reliability estimators under median ranked set sampling are derived. Two estimators are obtained when both strength… More >

Fuzzy Optimization of Multivariable Fuzzy Functions

    Şahin Emrah Amrahov1, Iman N.Askerzade1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 1-10, 2010, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2010.070.001

Abstract In this paper we define multivariable fuzzy functions (MFF) and corresponding multivariable crisp functions (MCF). Then we give a definition for the maximum value of MFF, which in some cases coincides with the maximum value in Pareto sense. We introduce generalized maximizing and minimizing sets in order to determine the maximum values of MFF. By equating membership functions of a given fuzzy domain set and the corresponding maximizing set, we obtain a curve of equal possibilities. Then we use the method of Lagrange multipliers to solve the resulting nonlinear optimization problem when the membership functions are differentiable. We finally present… More >

Multidisciplinary Design Optimization of Long Endurance Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Wing

    S. Rajagopal1, Ranjan Ganguli2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.81, No.1, pp. 1-34, 2011, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2011.081.001

Abstract The preliminary wing design of a low speed, long endurance UAV is formulated as a two step optimization problem. The first step performs a single objective aerodynamic optimization and the second step involves a coupled dual objective aerodynamic and structural optimization. During the first step, airfoil geometry is optimized to get maximum endurance parameter at a 2D level with maximum thickness to chord ratio and maximum camber as design variables. Leading edge curvature, trailing edge radius, zero lift drag coefficient and zero lift moment coefficient are taken as constraints. Once the airfoil geometry is finalized, the wing planform parameters are… More >
