    Abstract Plant growth in semiarid rangelands may be affected by time grazing is excluded during the post-fire regeneration period. The objective of this field work was to study the effect of post-fire defoliation at different phenological stages [vegetative (early-season defoliation) and internode elongation (late-season defoliation)] on growth of Piptochaetium napostaense and Poa ligularis, two very important perennial native grasses in the temperate semi-arid region of central Argentina (Caldenal).     Abstract The illnesses that cause root and neck rot in golf courses constitute a limiting factor for grass development worldwide. This is mainly true when management guidelines are not conducted. Our research was conducted in the Golf Club “Mexico”, located in Mexico, D.F. Isolates were taken from plants that presented yellowing symptoms and root and neck rot. The identified pathogenic fungi, isolated from axenic media, were Giberella avenacea, Fusarium oxysporum, F. oxysporum f. sp. cubense and Pythium ultimum.     Stem and root anatomy of Mnesithea selloana (Hack.) de Koning & Sosef

    Abstract The objective of this study was to analyze the anatomy of stems and roots of Mnesithea selloana. Free hand cross sections were made from fresh material of reproductive stems and adventitious roots; they were colored with safranin and mounted on glycerin jelly. Observations were made using an Olympus CH2 light microscope and photographed. In cross section, the stems were circular towards the distal end of the synflorescence and semicircular toward the proximal end, and have two ribs.
