A Novel Approach for Deciphering Big Data Value Using Dark Data

    Surbhi Bhatia*, Mohammed Alojail

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.2, pp. 1261-1271, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.023501 - 08 February 2022

Abstract The last decade has seen a rapid increase in big data, which has led to a need for more tools that can help organizations in their data management and decision making. Business intelligence tools have removed many of the obstacles to data visibility, and numerous data mining technologies are playing an essential role in this visibility. However, the increase in big data has also led to an increase in ‘dark data’, data that does not have any predefined structure and is not generated intentionally. In this paper, we show how dark data can be mined… More >

Abstract In the last century, scientists started to give importance to gifted children (GC) and to understand their behavior. Since then, research has pursued the various categories of these children and their early diagnosis in order to find the best control of their skills. Therefore, most researchers focus on recent advances in electroencephalogram (EEG) and cognitive events. The event-related brain potentials (ERPs) technique is generally used in the cognitive neuroscience process. However, it is still a challenge to extract these potentials from a few trials of electroencephalogram (EEG) data. The N400 ERP component is an important… More >

Abstract Extended Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (Extended EWMA or EEWMA) control chart is one of the control charts which can quickly detect a small shift. The average run length (ARL) measures the performance of control chart. Due to the derivation of the explicit formulas for ARL on the EEWMA control chart for the autoregressive AR(p) process has not previously been reported. The aim of the article is to derive explicit formulas of ARL using a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind on EEWMA control chart for Autoregressive process, as AR(2) and AR(3) processes with exponential white noise.… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.2, pp. 569-589, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.018693 - 24 January 2022

Abstract Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is one of the potential solutions to increase energy system flexibility, as BESS is well suited to solve many challenges in transmission and distribution networks. Examples of distribution network’s challenges, which affect network performance, are: (i) Load disconnection or technical constraints violation, which may happen during reconfiguration after fault, (ii) Unpredictable power generation change due to Photovoltaic (PV) penetration, (iii) Undesirable PV reverse power, and (iv) Low Load Factor (LF) which may affect electricity price. In this paper, the BESS is used to support distribution networks in reconfiguration after a… More >

Research on Normal Pythagorean Neutrosophic Set Choquet Integral Operator and Its Application

    Changxing Fan1, Jihong Chen2,*, Keli Hu1,3, En Fan1, Xiuqing Wang1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.131, No.1, pp. 477-491, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.019159 - 24 January 2022

Abstract We first propose the normal Pythagorean neutrosophic set (NPNS) in this paper, which synthesizes the distribution of the incompleteness, indeterminacy, and inconsistency of the Pythagorean neutrosophic set (PNS) and normal fuzzy number. We also define some properties of NPNS. For solving the decision-making problem of the non-strictly independent and interacting attributes, two kinds of NPNS Choquet integral operators are proposed. First, the NPNS Choquet integral average (NPNSCIA) operator and the NPNS Choquet integral geometric (NPNSCIG) operator are proposed. Then, their calculating formulas are derived, their properties are discussed, and an approach for solving the interacting More >

N-SVRG: Stochastic Variance Reduction Gradient with Noise Reduction Ability for Small Batch Samples

    Haijie Pan, Lirong Zheng*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.131, No.1, pp. 493-512, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.019069 - 24 January 2022

Abstract The machine learning model converges slowly and has unstable training since large variance by random using a sample estimate gradient in SGD. To this end, we propose a noise reduction method for Stochastic Variance Reduction gradient (SVRG), called N-SVRG, which uses small batches samples instead of all samples for the average gradient calculation, while performing an incremental update of the average gradient. In each round of iteration, a small batch of samples is randomly selected for the average gradient calculation, while the average gradient is updated by rounding of the past model gradients during internal… More >

Towards Realistic Vibration Testing of Large Floor Batteries for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV)

    Benedikt Plaumann*

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.56, No.1, pp. 1-19, 2022, DOI:10.32604/sv.2022.018634 - 10 January 2022

Abstract This contribution shows an analysis of vibration measurement on large floor-mounted traction batteries of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). The focus lies on the requirements for a realistic replication of the mechanical environments in a testing laboratory. Especially the analysis on global bending transfer functions and local corner bending coherence indicate that neither a fully stiff fixation of the battery nor a completely independent movement on the four corners yields a realistic and conservative test scenario. The contribution will further show what implication these findings have on future vibration & shock testing equipment for large traction More >
