Abstract Fatty Acyl-ACP thioesterase (FAT) is a key enzyme controlling oil biosynthesis in plant seeds. FATs can be divided into two subfamilies, FATA and FATB according to their amino acid sequences and substrate specificity. The Upland cotton genome contains 20 GhFAT genes, amongst which 6 genes were of the GhFATA subfamily and 14 of the GhFATB subfamily. The 20 GhFAT genes are unevenly distributed on 14 chromosomes. The GhFATA genes have 5 or 7 exons and the GhFATB genes have 6 or 7 exons. All GhFAT proteins have the conserved Acyl-ACP_TE domain and PLN02370 super family, the typical characteristics of plant… More >

Coherence Based Sufficient Condition for Support Recovery Using Generalized Orthogonal Matching Pursuit

    Aravindan Madhavan1,*, Yamuna Govindarajan1, Neelakandan Rajamohan2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.2, pp. 2049-2058, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.031566

Abstract In an underdetermined system, compressive sensing can be used to recover the support vector. Greedy algorithms will recover the support vector indices in an iterative manner. Generalized Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (GOMP) is the generalized form of the Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (OMP) algorithm where a number of indices selected per iteration will be greater than or equal to 1. To recover the support vector of unknown signal ‘x’ from the compressed measurements, the restricted isometric property should be satisfied as a sufficient condition. Finding the restricted isometric constant is a non-deterministic polynomial-time hardness problem due to that the coherence of the… More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.1, No.2, pp. 154-165, 2013, DOI:10.7569/JRM.2012.634107

Abstract This study investigated the use of potassium persulfate (KPS) as an initiator for the grafting of methyl methacrylate (MMA) onto softwood kraft lignin. Ammonium iron (II) sulfate hexahydrate was used as a catalyst to overcome the inherent inhibition of lignin to free radical grafting and to make lignin copolymer under mild conditions using an aqueous medium. The infl uence of temperature, initiator concentration, time of reaction and monomer concentration on percentage of grafting were studied. A maximum of 31% grafting was achieved at 55ο C. Graft copolymer was identifi ed from the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrum by the new… More >

Abstract To evaluate the cost–utility of pembrolizumab versus chemotherapy as the first-line setting for metastatic nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) from the US health care system perspective, a Markov model was developed to compare the lifetime cost and effectiveness of pembrolizumab versus chemotherapy for untreated metastatic NSCLC, based on the clinical data derived from phase III randomized controlled trial (KEYNOTE- 042; ClinicalTrials.gov; NCT02220894). Weibull distribution was fitted to simulate the parametric survival functions. Drug costs were collected from official websites, and utility values were obtained from published literature. Total costs, quality-adjusted life years (QALYs), and incremental cost-effectiveness ratios (ICERs) were computed… More >

    ZHENKUI CUI1,#,*, GUIQIN SUN2,#,*, QUANZHI ZHAO1

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.9, pp. 2133-2144, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.020512

Abstract Cotton is widely distributed worldwide, and improving the quality of its fiber is one of the most important tasks in cotton breeding. Cotton fibers are primarily composed of cellulose, which is synthesized by CesA complexes (CSCs). However, the functions of CesA genes in cotton fiber development have not been comprehensively analysed. In this study, the cotton transcriptome and metabolome were used to investigate the function of CesA genes in fiber development. Finally, 321 metabolites were obtained, 84 of which were associated with the corresponding genes. Interestingly, a target gene named Gh_A08G144300, one of the CesA gene family members, was closely… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.5, pp. 1347-1356, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.018254

Abstract Aluminum-activated malate transporters (ALMT) are widely involved in plant growth and metabolic processes, including adaptation to acid soils, guard cell regulation, anion homeostasis, and seed development. Although ALMT genes have been identified in Arabidopsis, wheat, barley, and Lotus japonicus, little is known about its presence in Gossypium hirsutum L. In this study, ALMT gene recognition in diploid and tetraploid cotton were done using bioinformatics analysis that examined correlation between homology and evolution. Differentially regulated ALMT genetic profile in G. hirsutum was examined, using RNA sequencing and qRT-PCR, during six fiber developmental time-points, namely 5 d, 7 d, 10 d, 15… More >

Optimized Compressive Sensing Based ECG Signal Compression and Reconstruction

    Ishani Mishra1,*, Sanjay Jain2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.1, pp. 415-428, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.022860

Abstract In wireless body sensor network (WBSN), the set of electrocardiograms (ECG) data which is collected from sensor nodes and transmitted to the server remotely supports the experts to monitor the health of a patient. However, due to the size of the ECG data, the performance of the signal compression and reconstruction is degraded. For efficient wireless transmission of ECG data, compressive sensing (CS) frame work plays significant role recently in WBSN. So, this work focuses to present CS for ECG signal compression and reconstruction. Although CS minimizes mean square error (MSE), compression rate and reconstruction probability of the CS is… More >

Nitric oxide and hydrogen sulfide share regulatory functions in higher plant events

    FRANCISCO J. CORPAS*, SALVADOR GONZÁLEZ-GORDO, MARTA RODRÍGUEZ-RUIZ, MARÍA A. MUÑOZ-VARGAS, JOSÉ M. PALMA

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 1-5, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.017300

Abstract Nitric oxide (NO) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) are two molecules that share signaling properties in plant and animal cells. NO and H2S originate two families of derived molecules designated reactive nitrogen and sulfur species (RNS and RSS, respectively). These molecules are responsible for certain protein regulatory processes through posttranslational modifications (PTMs), being the most remarkable S-nitrosation and persulfidation, which affect the thiol group of cysteine residues. NO and H2S can also exert regulatory functions due to their interaction through the iron present in proteins that contain heme groups or iron-sulfur clusters, as reported mainly in animal cells. However, the available… More >

    Khattab Alheeti1, Abdulkareem Alaloosy1, Haitham Khalaf2, Abdulkareem Alzahrani3,*, Duaa Al_Dosary4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.2, pp. 3311-3319, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019773

Abstract Self-driving and semi-self-driving cars play an important role in our daily lives. The effectiveness of these cars is based heavily on the use of their surrounding areas to collect sensitive and vital information. However, external infrastructures also play significant roles in the transmission and reception of control data, cooperative awareness messages, and caution notifications. In this case, roadside units are considered one of the most important communication peripherals. Random distribution of these infrastructures will overburden the spread of self-driving vehicles in terms of cost, bandwidth, connectivity, and radio coverage area. In this paper, a new distributed roadside unit is proposed… More >
