    Zaihe Yang1,*, Shuling Wang1, Runhang Zhu1, Jiao Cui2, Ji Su2, Liling Chen3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.3, pp. 807-820, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.028167

Abstract To address the scheduling problem involving energy storage systems and uncertain energy, we propose a method based on multi-stage robust optimization. This approach aims to regulate the energy storage system by using a multi-stage robust optimal control method, which helps overcome the limitations of traditional methods in terms of time scale. The goal is to effectively utilize the energy storage power station system to address issues caused by unpredictable variations in environmental energy and fluctuating load throughout the day. To achieve this, a mathematical model is constructed to represent uncertain energy sources such as photovoltaic and wind power. The generalized… More >

Haoliang Yang*, Yonggang Dong, Zhifang Yang

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.12, pp. 2917-2931, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.029167

Abstract Reducing the impact of power outages and maintaining the power supply duration must be considered in implementing emergency energy dispatching in micro-networks. This paper studies a new emergency energy treatment method based on the robust optimal method and the industrial park micro-network with the optical energy storage system. After controlling the load input, a control strategy of adjusting and removing is proposed. Rolling optimal theory is applied to emergency energy scheduling based on a robust optimal mathematical model. A weighting factor is introduced into the optimal model to balance the importance of reducing and retaining the power supply. Uncertainty is… More >

Robust Shape Optimization of Sound Barriers Based on Isogeometric Boundary Element Method and Polynomial Chaos Expansion

    Xuhang Lin1, Haibo Chen1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.27, No.1, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09388

Abstract As an important and useful tool for reducing noise, the sound barrier is of practical significance. The sound barrier has different noise reduction effects for different sizes, shapes and properties of the sound absorbing material. Liu et al. [1] have performed shape optimization of sound barriers by using isogeometric boundary element method and method of moving asymptotes (MMA). However, in engineering practice, it is difficult to determine some parameters accurately such as material properties, geometries, external loads. Therefore, it is necessary to consider these uncertainty conditions in order to ensure the rationality of the numerical calculation of engineering problems. In… More >

Distributed Robust Optimal Dispatch for the Microgrid Considering Output Correlation between Wind and Photovoltaic

    Ming Li1,*, Cairen Furifu1, Chengyang Ge2, Yunping Zheng1, Shunfu Lin2, Ronghui Liu2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.8, pp. 1775-1801, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.027215

Abstract As an effective carrier of integrated clean energy, the microgrid has attracted wide attention. The randomness of renewable energies such as wind and solar power output brings a significant cost and impact on the economics and reliability of microgrids. This paper proposes an optimization scheme based on the distributionally robust optimization (DRO) model for a microgrid considering solar-wind correlation. Firstly, scenarios of wind and solar power output scenarios are generated based on non-parametric kernel density estimation and the Frank-Copula function; then the generated scenario results are reduced by K-means clustering; finally, the probability confidence interval of scenario distribution is constrained… More >

    Xuan Zhao1,2, Jianteng Xu2,*, Hongling Lu2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.2, pp. 1813-1833, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.025828

Abstract The cap-and-offset regulation is a practical scheme to lessen carbon emissions. The retailer selling fresh products can adopt sustainable technologies to lessen greenhouse gas emissions. We aim to analyze the optimal joint strategies on order quantity and sustainable technology investment when the retailer faces stochastic market demand and can only acquire the mean and variance of distribution information. We construct a distributionally robust optimization model and use the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions to solve the analytic formula of optimal solutions. By comparing the models with and without investing in sustainable technologies, we examine the effect of sustainable technologies on the operational… More > Graphic Abstract

Distributionally Robust Optimal Dispatch of Virtual Power Plant Based on Moment of Renewable Energy Resource

Wenlu Ji, Yong Wang*, Xing Deng, Ming Zhang, Ting Ye

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.5, pp. 1967-1983, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.020011

Abstract Virtual power plants can effectively integrate different types of distributed energy resources, which have become a new operation mode with substantial advantages such as high flexibility, adaptability, and economy. This paper proposes a distributionally robust optimal dispatch approach for virtual power plants to determine an optimal day-ahead dispatch under uncertainties of renewable energy sources. The proposed distributionally robust approach characterizes probability distributions of renewable power output by moments. In this regard, the faults of stochastic optimization and traditional robust optimization can be overcome. Firstly, a second-order cone-based ambiguity set that incorporates the first and second moments of renewable power output… More >

Influence of the Hook Position on the Vertical Vibrations of an Automobile Exhaust System: Application of the Robust Optimization Design

    Jianqiang Xiong*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.3, pp. 555-567, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.015429

Abstract A robust optimization design method is proposed to investigate the influence of the hook position on the vertical vibration (bending) of an automobile exhaust system. A block diagram for the robustness analysis of the exhaust system is initially constructed from the major affecting factors. Secondly, the second-order inertia force is set as the vibration excitation source of the exhaust system and the displacement of four hooks of the exhaust system is selected as the variable factor. Then tests are carried out to investigate the resulting vertical bending considering four influencing factors and three levels of analysis. Finally, a variance analysis… More >

    G. Trapani1, T. Kipouros1, A. M. Savill1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.88, No.2, pp. 107-140, 2012, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2012.088.107

Abstract This paper presents the development and the application of a multi-objective optimization framework for the design of two-dimensional multi-element high-lift airfoils. An innovative and efficient optimization algorithm, namely Multi-Objective Tabu Search (MOTS), has been selected as core of the framework. The flow-field around the multi-element configuration is simulated using the commercial computational fluid dynamics (cfd) suite Ansys cfx. Elements shape and deployment settings have been considered as design variables in the optimization of the Garteur A310 airfoil, as presented here. A validation and verification process of the cfd simulation for the Garteur airfoil is performed using available wind tunnel data.… More >
