    Nan Wu1,#, Kuan Lu1,2,#,*, Yulin Jin2,3,*, Haopeng Zhang1, Yushu Chen2

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.54, No.2, pp. 113-125, 2020, DOI:10.32604/sv.2020.09783 - 09 May 2020

Abstract Two different order reduction methods of the deterministic and stochastic systems are discussed in this paper. First, the transient proper orthogonal decomposition (T-POD) method is introduced based on the high-dimensional nonlinear dynamic system. The optimal order reduction conditions of the T-POD method are provided by analyzing the rotor-bearing system with pedestal looseness fault at both ends. The efficiency of the T-POD method is verified via comparing with the results of the original system. Second, the polynomial dimensional decomposition (PDD) method is applied to the 2 DOFs spring system considering the uncertain stiffness to study the More >

Solving Fully Fuzzy Nonlinear Eigenvalue Problems of Damped Spring-Mass Structural Systems Using Novel Fuzzy-Affine Approach

    S. Rout1, S. Chakraverty1,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.121, No.3, pp. 947-980, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2019.08036

Abstract The dynamic analysis of damped structural system by using finite element method leads to nonlinear eigenvalue problem (NEP) (particularly, quadratic eigenvalue problem). In general, the parameters of NEP are considered as exact values. But in actual practice because of different errors and incomplete information, the parameters may have uncertain or vague values and such uncertain values may be considered in terms of fuzzy numbers. This article proposes an efficient fuzzy-affine approach to solve fully fuzzy nonlinear eigenvalue problems (FNEPs) where involved parameters are fuzzy numbers viz. triangular and trapezoidal. Based on the parametric form, fuzzy… More >

    G.S. Kassab1,*

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.16, Suppl.2, pp. 18-18, 2019, DOI:10.32604/mcb.2019.08416

Abstract In celebration of Dr. Fung’s 100 birthday, the presentation will focus on a biomechanical design-based approach to innovation of medical devices that addresses unmet clinical needs ranging from cardiovascular diseases (e.g., ischemic heart disease and heart failure) to obesity. The technologies attempt to restore biomechanical homeostasis through a minimally invasive (e.g., percutaneous or laproscopic) approach in time efficient and cost-effective manner. The illustratory technologies include: A) A catheter for selective retroperfusion and “arterialization” of coronary veins for myocardial revascularization; B) A suction-based catheter for ease of trans-septal access; and C) A laproscopic and reversible restrictive More >

Yewan Ma, Hansen Chang, Zhaowang Wu, Yanyan Jiang, Juan Li, Xunchang Yin, Quanjin Liu, Lihua Zhang*

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.53, No.4, pp. 139-149, 2019, DOI:10.32604/sv.2019.04622

Abstract The energy of a spring with a well-distributed mass ms is theoretically studied in this paper. The solution of the wave equation is derived in detail, and then the kinetic energy and potential energy of the spring are studied with the wave equation, as well as the kinetic energy of the oscillating mass M. The kinetic energy and potential energy of the spring, and total energy are numerically simulated for different ratios ms/M with considering the spring’s mass, which makes the property of energy of the oscillating system understood easily. A Spring-Layer Model for a Bi-Layered Plate-Strip with Initial Stress Through Imperfect Contact Interface

    Ahmet Daşdemir*

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.53, No.3, pp. 65-74, 2019, DOI:10.32604/sv.2019.04087

Abstract In this paper, we present our report on the forced vibration of a bi-layered plate-strip with initial stress resting on a rigid foundation induced by a time-harmonic force. The investigation is carried out according to the piecewise homogeneous body model with utilizing the three-dimensional linearized theory of elastic waves in initially stressed bodies (TLTEWISB). The materials of the body are chosen to be linearly elastic, homogeneous, and isotropic. The interface between the layers is assumed to be imperfect, and is simulated by the spring-layer model. A similar degree of imperfection on the interface is realized More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.3, pp. 1055-1071, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.03915

Abstract Current research on suture simulation mainly focus on the construction of suture line, and existing suture simulation systems still need to be improved in terms of diversity, soft tissue effects, and stability. This paper presents an integrated liver suture surgery system composed of three consecutive suture circumstances, which is conducive to liver suture surgery training. The physically-based models used in this simulation are based on different mass-spring models regulated by a special constrained algorithm, which can improve the model accuracy, and stability by appropriately restraining the activity sphere of the surrounding mass nodes around the… More >

    Xiaorui Zhang1,3,*, Jiali Duan1, Lifeng Zhu2, Ladislav Kavan3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.57, No.3, pp. 505-519, 2018, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2018.01842

Abstract Puncture is a common operation in surgery, which involves all kinds of tissue materials with different geometry and mechanical properties. As a new cross-disciplinary research area, Virtual Surgery (VS) makes simulation of soft tissue in puncture operation possible in virtual environment. In this paper, we introduce a VS-based puncture system composed by three-layer soft tissue, simulated with spherical harmonic function (SHF), which is covered with a force mesh, constructed by mass spring model (MSM). The two models are combined together with a parameter of SHF named surface radius, which provides MSM with real-time deformation data… More >

    M. Ozisik1,*, M. A. Mehdiyev2, S. D. Akbarov2,3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.54, No.2, pp. 103-136, 2018, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2018.054.103

Abstract The dynamics of the moving-with-constant-velocity internal pressure acting on the inner surface of the hollow circular cylinder surrounded by an infinite elastic medium is studied within the scope of the piecewise homogeneous body model by employing the exact field equations of the linear theory of elastodynamics. It is assumed that the internal pressure is point-located with respect to the cylinder axis and is axisymmetric in the circumferential direction. Moreover, it is assumed that shear-spring type imperfect contact conditions on the interface between the cylinder and surrounding elastic medium are satisfied. The focus is on the… More >
