    Oncology Research, Vol.24, No.4, pp. 225-231, 2016, DOI:10.3727/096504016X14648701447931

Abstract Recurrence and distant metastasis are the most common cause of therapeutic failure in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients. Insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) can induce epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in many epithelial tumors; however, whether IGF-I can enhance NPC metastasis by EMT and the mechanisms remain unclear. Herein, we have identified that IGF-I could induce EMT and enhance migration ability in NPC cell lines. Furthermore, both Src inhibitor and microRNA-30a (miR-30a) inhibitor reversed IGF-I-induced EMT, suggesting the involvement of an IGF-IR–Src–miR-30a–E-cadherin pathway in IGF-Iinduced EMT in NPC cell lines. Overall, the results of the present study may More >

Basanta Kumar Swain1, Mohammad Zubair Khan2,*, Chiranji Lal Chowdhary3, Abdullah Alsaeedi4

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.2, pp. 2337-2349, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.036192

Abstract This research is focused on a highly effective and untapped feature called gammatone frequency cepstral coefficients (GFCC) for the detection of COVID-19 by using the nature-inspired meta-heuristic algorithm of deer hunting optimization and artificial neural network (DHO-ANN). The noisy crowdsourced cough datasets were collected from the public domain. This research work claimed that the GFCC yielded better results in terms of COVID-19 detection as compared to the widely used Mel-frequency cepstral coefficient in noisy crowdsourced speech corpora. The proposed algorithm's performance for detecting COVID-19 disease is rigorously validated using statistical measures, F1 score, confusion matrix, More >

Abstract The number of accidents in the campus of Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) has increased due to increasing number of personal vehicles. In this paper, we focus on the development of public transportation system using Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) along with the limitation of personal vehicles using sharing economy model. The SUT Smart Transit is utilized as a major public transportation system, while MoreSai@SUT (electric motorcycle services) is a minor public transportation system in this work. They are called Multi-Mode Transportation system as a combination. Moreover, a Vehicle to Network (V2N) is used for developing… More >

Wei Wu*, Linyan He†‡, Yan Huang*, Likun Hou*, Wei Zhang*, Liping Zhang*, Chunyan Wu*

    Oncology Research, Vol.27, No.8, pp. 879-887, 2019, DOI:10.3727/096504018X15451308507747

Abstract An increasing number of studies have demonstrated that microRNAs (miRNAs) may play key roles in various cancer carcinogenesis and progression, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the expressions, roles, and mechanisms of miR-510 in NSCLC have, up to now, been largely undefined. In vivo assay showed that miR-510 was upregulated in NSCLC tissues compared with that in adjacent nontumor lung tissues. miR-510 expression was significantly correlated with TNM stage and lymph node metastasis. In vitro assay indicated that expressions of miR-510 were also increased in NSCLC cell lines. Downregulation of miR-510 suppressed NSCLC cell More >

TRIM14 Promotes Breast Cancer Cell Proliferation by Inhibiting Apoptosis

Gaowu Hu, Wei Pen, Ming Wang

    Oncology Research, Vol.27, No.4, pp. 439-447, 2019, DOI:10.3727/096504018X15214994641786

Abstract Tripartite motif-containing 14 (TRIM14) is abnormally expressed in several human cancers. However, the function and expression of TRIM14 in human breast cancer are still largely unknown. To understand the biological function of TRIM14 in breast cancer, we measured the expression level of TRIM14. Cell proliferation and cell apoptosis were measured after TRIM14 overexpression or knockdown. Upregulation of TRIM14 was found in human breast cancer specimens and cell lines. Reduction of TRIM14 inhibited cell proliferation but increased cell apoptosis in the BT474 and MDA-MB-231 cell lines. Further study showed that knockdown of TRIM14 upregulated the expression More >

Abstract Signet Ring Cell (SRC) Carcinoma is among the dangerous types of cancers, and has a major contribution towards the death ratio caused by cancerous diseases. Detection and diagnosis of SRC carcinoma at earlier stages is a challenging, laborious, and costly task. Automatic detection of SRCs in a patient's body through medical imaging by incorporating computing technologies is a hot topic of research. In the presented framework, we propose a novel approach that performs the identification and segmentation of SRCs in the histological images by using a deep learning (DL) technique named Mask Region-based Convolutional Neural… More >

    E. Elamaran1,*, B. Sudhakar2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.3, pp. 1467-1477, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.020625

Abstract Essential components in wireless systems are schedulin and resource allocation. The problems in scheduling refers to inactive users in a given time slot and in terms of resource allocation it refers to the issues in the allocation of physical layer resources such as power and bandwidth among the active users. In the Long Time Evolution (LTE) downlink scheduling the optimized problem refers to the flow deadlines that incorporate the formulation in the surveyed scheduling algorithm for achieving enhanced performance levels. The major challenges appear in the areas of quality and bandwidth constrains in the video… More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.8, No.4, pp. 431-446, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2020.09158

Abstract A novel sunflower-like nanocomposite of SrCo2S4 nanoflakes and functionalized multiwall carbon nanotubes (f-MWCNTs) entanglement enveloped in nitrogen-reduced graphene oxide (N-RGO) is prepared by a cheap process. The unique entanglement structure of the material exhibits higher specific surface area, better electrical conductivity and other properties. This helps to reduce the transfer resistance in the photoelectric process of the battery and improve the electrochemical activity, thus increasing the photoelectric conversion efficiency of the battery. The new ternary cobalt-based sulfide material can replace platinum as the counter electrode (CE) material loaded on dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). DSSCs with SrCo2S4@f-MWCNTs@N-RGO More >

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.19, No.2, pp. 51-52, 2011, DOI:10.3970/icces.2011.019.051

Abstract With the number of submarines increasing rapidly, there are many accidents occurred during submarines’s cruising. Especially the universal attentions to submarine rescue are awaken by the Russian Navy’s second-generation strategic nuclear submarine "Kursk" accident.
One of the important means for submarine rescue is SRC. Since 70th last century abroad, Navy’s submarine rescue armies have been equipped with the SRCs. Entering 21th-century, it is necessary for mating exercises between SRC and disabled submarine(DISSUB) chosen still by Navy’s submarine rescue armies in Navy’s large military drills at home and abroad. The dedicated mating platforms for the SRCs… More >
