System Reliability Analysis Method Based on T-S FTA and HE-BN

    Qing Xia1, Yonghua Li2,*, Dongxu Zhang2, Yufeng Wang2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.2, pp. 1769-1794, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.030724

Abstract For high-reliability systems in military, aerospace, and railway fields, the challenges of reliability analysis lie in dealing with unclear failure mechanisms, complex fault relationships, lack of fault data, and uncertainty of fault states. To overcome these problems, this paper proposes a reliability analysis method based on T-S fault tree analysis (T-S FTA) and Hyper-ellipsoidal Bayesian network (HE-BN). The method describes the connection between the various system fault events by T-S fuzzy gates and translates them into a Bayesian network (BN) model. Combining the advantages of T-S fault tree modeling with the advantages of Bayesian network computation, a reliability modeling method… More >

System Reliability Analysis for Truss Structures Based on Automatic Updated  Model

Pengyu Chen, Cunbao Zhao*, He Yao, Junliang Li

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.3, pp. 2057-2071, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.022394

Abstract Multiple failure modes tend to be identified in the reliability analysis of a redundant truss structure. This identification process involves updating the model for identifying the next potential failure members. Herein we intend to update the finite element model automatically in the identification process of failure modes and further perform the system reliability analysis efficiently. This study presents a framework that is implemented through the joint simulation of MATLAB and APDL and consists of three parts: reliability index of a single member, identification of dominant failure modes, and system-level reliability analysis for system reliability analysis of truss structures. Firstly, RSM… More > Graphic Abstract

Improved Failure Mode Identification and Reliability Estimates for Electricity Transmission Towers

    Xuwen An1,2, Jianguo Hou3, P.D. Gosling4, Dong Dai5, Long Xiao6, Xiaoyi Zhou7

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.107, No.1, pp. 1-25, 2015, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2015.107.001

Abstract Studies on the theory of structural system reliability includes identification of main the failure modes and calculation of inclusive failure probabilities for the structural system. The efficient and accurate identification of failure modes in structural systems is difficult and represents a key focus for research in system reliability. The fundamental theory of the branch and bound algorithm for stage critical strength is reviewed in this paper. Some deficiencies in this method are highlighted. Corresponding approaches to overcome these deficiencies are proposed. Calculated system reliability solutions to the classical model, a truss with 10 elements, indicate that the improvement measures proposed… More >
