    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.14, No.6, pp. 952-957, 2019, DOI:10.1111/chd.12847

Abstract Objective: Adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) patients are at risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD). However, methods for risk stratification are not yet well‐ defined. The Tpeak‐Tend (TpTe) interval, a measure of dispersion of ventricular repolari‐ zation, is a risk factor for SCD in non‐ACHD patients. We aim to evaluate whether TpTe can be used in risk stratification for SCD in ACHD patients.
Design: From an international multicenter cohort of 25 790 ACHD patients, we iden‐ tified all SCD cases. Cases were matched to controls by age, gender, congenital de‐ fect, and (surgical) intervention.
Outcome Measures: TpTe was measured on… More >

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.14, No.5, pp. 713-719, 2019, DOI:10.1111/chd.12813

Abstract Background: Although Doppler echocardiography is routinely used to assess left ventricle cardiac output, there are limited data about the feasibility of Doppler echo‐ cardiography for right ventricular (RV) cardiac output assessment in patients with left‐to‐right shunt. The purpose of the study was to determine the correlation be‐ tween Doppler‐derived and Fick‐derived RV cardiac index (CI), and the interobserver correlation in Doppler‐derived RV CI assessment.
Methods: Retrospective study of patients (age ≥18 years) with unrepaired atrial septal defect who underwent cardiac catheterization and echocardiography (within 3 days), 2004‐2017. RV CI was calculated using the hydraulic orifice formula: [.785 × (right ventricle… More >

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.14, No.2, pp. 230-235, 2019, DOI:10.1111/chd.12687

Abstract Introduction: In the pediatric Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC), abnormal electrocardiogram (ECG) in an asymptomatic patient has been rated as an “Appropriate” indication for transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE). We hypothesized that the yield of abnormal findings on TTE for this indication will be low.
Methods: All asymptomatic patients (≤ 18 years) from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2017 who underwent initial outpatient evaluation at our center and had a TTE ordered for an abnormal ECG, were included. Clinic records were reviewed to obtain ECG and TTE findings.
Results: Of the 199 study patients, 13 (6.5%) had abnormal findings. Incomplete right bundle… More >

Abstract With the growing number of Web services on the internet, there is a challenge to select the best Web service which can offer more quality-of-service (QoS) values at the lowest price. Another challenge is the uncertainty of QoS values over time due to the unpredictable nature of the internet. In this paper, we modify the interval data envelopment analysis (DEA) models [Wang, Greatbanks and Yang (2005)] for QoS-aware Web service selection considering the uncertainty of QoS attributes in the presence of desirable and undesirable factors. We conduct a set of experiments using a synthesized dataset to show the capabilities of… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.123, No.2, pp. 495-508, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.09778

Abstract The new regenerative cooling thermal protection system exhibits the multifunctional characteristics of load-carrying and heat exchange cooling, which are fundamental for the lightweight design and thermal protection of hypersonic vehicles. Triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) is especially suitable for the structural design of the internal cavity of regenerative cooling structures owing to its excellent structural characteristics. In this study, test pieces were manufactured using Ti6Al4V lightweight material. We designed three types of porous test pieces, and the interior was filled with a TPMS lattice (Gyroid, Primitive, I-WP) with a porosity of 30%. All porous test pieces were manufactured via selective… More >

Cell viability in the cadmium-stressed cell suspension cultures of tobacco is regulated by extracellular ATP, possibly by a reactive oxygen species-associated mechanism

Zhenzhen SHI, Jiaxin CAO, Hailong PANG, Lingyun JIA, Kun SUN, Hanqing FENG*

    BIOCELL, Vol.44, No.1, pp. 89-99, 2020, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2020.08059

Abstract Cadmium (Cd) is one of the most widespread and toxic heavy metals to plants. Extracellular ATP (exATP) is thought to be an extracellular effector in regulating the physiological responses of plant cells to environmental stresses. However, the function of exATP in Cd-stressed plant cells is much unknown. The present work showed that treating tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L. cv. Bright Yellow-2) cell-suspension cultures with exogenous CdCl2 reduced the cell viability, exATP level, and Mg content. However, the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), Cd content, and electrolyte leakage of the cells were enhanced by exogenous CdCl2. When the Cd-induced accumulation of… More >

An Efficient Steganalysis Model Based on Multi-Scale LTP and Derivative Filters

    Yuwei Chen1, 2, Yuling Chen1, *, Yu Yang1, 2, Xinda Hao2, Ning Wang2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.3, pp. 1259-1271, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.06723

Abstract Local binary pattern (LBP) is one of the most advanced image classification recognition operators and is commonly used in texture detection area. Research indicates that LBP also has a good application prospect in steganalysis. However, the existing LBP-based steganalysis algorithms are only capable to detect the least significant bit (LSB) and the least significant bit matching (LSBM) algorithms. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a steganalysis model called msdeLTP, which is based on multi-scale local ternary patterns (LTP) and derivative filters. The main characteristics of the msdeLTP are as follows: First, to reduce the interference of image content on… More >

    Bo Gao1, *, Xuan Liu1, Xiaobo Wu1, *, Shudong Li2, *, Zhongzhou Lan1, Hui Lu2, *, Boyan Liu1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.2, pp. 833-847, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.06702

Abstract The stability of Non-Linear Feedback Shift Registers (NFSRs) plays an important role in the cryptographic security. Due to the complexity of nonlinear systems and the lack of efficient algebraic tools, the theorems related to the stability of NFSRs are still not well-developed. In this paper, we view the NFSR with periodic inputs as a Boolean control network. Based on the mathematical tool of semi-tensor product (STP), the Boolean network can be mapped into an algebraic form. Through these basic theories, we analyze the state space of non-autonomous NFSRs, and discuss the stability of an NFSR with periodic inputs of limited… More >

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.85, pp. 87-93, 2016, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2016.85.087

Abstract The grass pea (Lathyrus sativus L.) and flatpod peavine (Lathyrus cicera L.) are the most economically important and widely cultivated Lathyrus species. However, their utilization is limited due to the presence of their endogenous toxin β-N-oxalyl-L-α, β-diaminopropionic acid (β-ODAP). Thus, a β-ODAP free variety should be developed through some plant breeding technique like either mutational breeding or genetic-manipulation. In this circumstance, the plant regeneration of Lathyrus species becomes a bottleneck. In the present study, an efficient system for in vitro regeneration of L. sativus with high β-ODAP levels, and L. cicera with low β-ODAP levels, was developed from different explants… More >
