The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.29, No.2, pp. 1-1, 2024, DOI:10.32604/icces.2024.012173

Abstract In order to regulate the multi-scale structure of Ti-6Al-4V formed by the SLM (selective laser melting) process, this study uses the method of combining numerical simulations with experiments to investigate the effects of SLM process parameters on the phase composition, micro- and meso-structures, and their distribution of Ti-6Al-4V. The study shows that the SLM-formed Ti-6Al-4V is mainly composed of α/α' phases. Horizontally, the specimens at a 0° phase angle mainly show a striped pattern, while the specimens at 67° and 90° phase angles will show a tessellated pattern. Vertically, the specimens at 0°, 67°, and More >

    Di Qiu1,3,4, Rongpei Shi2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.140, No.1, pp. 1017-1028, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.048797 - 16 April 2024

Abstract For media with inclusions (e.g., precipitates, voids, reinforcements, and others), the difference in lattice parameter and the elastic modulus between the matrix and inclusions cause stress concentration at the interfaces. These stress fields depend on the inclusions’ size, shape, and distribution and will respond instantly to the evolving microstructure. This study develops a phase-field model concerning modulus heterogeneity. The effect of modulus heterogeneity on the growth process and equilibrium state of the α plate in Ti-6Al-4V during precipitation is evaluated. The α precipitate exhibits strong anisotropy in shape upon cooling due to the interplay of the… More >

Abstract In this study, the characteristics of heat transfer on an unsteady magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Casson nanofluid over an exponentially accelerated vertical porous plate with rotating effects were investigated. The flow was driven by the combined effects of the magnetic field, heat radiation, heat source/sink and chemical reaction. Copper oxide () and titanium oxide () are acknowledged as nanoparticle materials. The nondimensional governing equations were subjected to the Laplace transformation technique to derive closed-form solutions. Graphical representations are provided to analyze how changes in physical parameters, such as the magnetic field, heat radiation, heat source/sink and chemical… More >

    Revista Internacional de Métodos Numéricos para Cálculo y Diseño en Ingeniería, Vol.39, No.4, pp. 1-6, 2023, DOI:10.23967/j.rimni.2023.10.006 - 08 November 2023

Abstract Eddy current displacement sensors in full-maglev left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) suffer from low sensitivity resulting from the use of a stator titanium alloy frame. The aim of this study was to develop a methodology to improve the sensitivity of eddy current displacement sensors and formulate a mathematical model of coil impendence to illustrate the impact of the addition of a titanium alloy frame between the sensor coils and the measured conductor. An equivalent mutual inductance model in the circuit was established for LVADs with and without a titanium alloy frame stator wall. Comparing the… More >

Towards Solar-Driven Formation of Robust and Self-Healable Waterborne Polyurethane Containing Disulfide Bonds via in-situ Incorporation of 2D Titanium Carbide MXene

    Sai Gong1,2,#, Shanglin Xiang1,#, Tingwei Wang1,*, Dongyu Cai2,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.3, pp. 1063-1076, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.023011 - 31 October 2022

Abstract Waterborne polymers are vital for coating industry to reduce carbon emissions. However, formation of robust and self-healable films at ambient temperature remains a challenge owing to high energy cost of film formation process. This work reports a solar-driven film formation of waterborne polyurethanes (WPUs) containing disulfide bonds via in-situ incorporation of 2D titanium carbide (MXene) with ability to convert light to heat. Instead of directly mixed with WPUs, MXene is added to join the reaction with isocyanate-terminated pre-polymer before emulsification process. This approach not only prevents aggregation of MXene in water but stabilizes MXene against thermal More > Graphic Abstract

    Lixia Guo1,2,3, Weikai Wang1, Ling Zhong1,2,3,*, Yuhang Guo1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.1, pp. 423-434, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.022942 - 10 August 2022

Abstract Based on the high sulfur content in titanium gypsum, the concept of the calcium-silicon-sulfur (Ca/Si/S) ratio was proposed. The Ca/Si/S ratio of concrete was adjusted by changing the titanium gypsum, fly ash, and cement content. The effects of different Ca/Si/S ratios on the mechanical properties, hydration products, and concrete microstructure were investigated by nuclear magnetic resonance, uniaxial compression, and scanning electron microscopy. The result shows: (1) The compressive strength of concrete mixed with titanium gypsum increases first and then decreases with the Ca/Si/S ratio decrease. When the Ca/Si/S ratio is 1:0.85:0.10, the strength reaches the More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract In this study, the workability of cement-based grouts containing n-TiO2 nanoparticles and fly ash has been investigated experimentally. Several characteristic quantities (including, but not limited to, the marsh cone flow time, the mini slump spreading diameter and the plate cohesion meter value) have been measured for different percentages of these additives. The use of fly ash as a mineral additive has been found to result in improvements in terms of workability behavior as expected. Moreover, if nano titanium oxide is also used, an improvement can be obtained regarding the bleeding values for the cement-based grout mixes. More >
