Jhonn Pablo Rodríguez1,*, David Camilo Corrales1,2, David Griol3, Zoraida Callejas3, Juan Carlos Corrales1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.3, pp. 4725-4743, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019135

Abstract Coffee plays a key role in the generation of rural employment in Colombia. More than 785,000 workers are directly employed in this activity, which represents the 26% of all jobs in the agricultural sector. Colombian coffee growers estimate the production of cherry coffee with the main aim of planning the required activities, and resources (number of workers, required infrastructures), anticipating negotiations, estimating, price, and foreseeing losses of coffee production in a specific territory. These important processes can be affected by several factors that are not easy to predict (e.g., weather variability, diseases, or plagues.). In this paper, we propose a… More >

Abstract Since the end of 2019, the world has suffered from a pandemic of the disease called COVID-19. WHO reports show approximately 113 M confirmed cases of infection and 2.5 M deaths. All nations are affected by this nightmare that continues to spread. Widespread fear of this pandemic arose not only from the speed of its transmission: a rapidly changing “normal life” became a fear for everyone. Studies have mainly focused on the spread of the virus, which showed a relative decrease in high temperature, low humidity, and other environmental conditions. Therefore, this study targets the effect of weather in considering… More >

    Xiushao Zhao1, Qijing Yang1,2,*, Jianglong Rao1, Daxin Geng1, Zhouyong Tan1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.1, pp. 203-218, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2021.015854

Abstract Completely weathered phyllite (CWP) soil is a kind of special soil with high swell potential, while red clay is a special soil with high shrinkage. This means that these two kinds of special soils are usually not suitable for direct use as subgrade fill. To reduce the swell index of the CWP soil and the shrinkage of red clay at the same time, it was proposed to blend the CWP soil with red clay to improve their basic characteristics. A series of swell index tests and dry-wet cycle tests of the blended soils have been carried out at varying blending… More > Graphic Abstract

    Ghulfam Zahra1, Muhammad Imran1, Abdulrahman M. Qahtani2,*, Abdulmajeed Alsufyani2, Omar Almutiry3, Awais Mahmood3, Fayez Eid Alazemi4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 3465-3481, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017454

Abstract In recent years, video surveillance application played a significant role in our daily lives. Images taken during foggy and haze weather conditions for video surveillance application lose their authenticity and hence reduces the visibility. The reason behind visibility enhancement of foggy and haze images is to help numerous computer and machine vision applications such as satellite imagery, object detection, target killing, and surveillance. To remove fog and enhance visibility, a number of visibility enhancement algorithms and methods have been proposed in the past. However, these techniques suffer from several limitations that place strong obstacles to the real world outdoor computer… More >

Optimum Calculation of Coal Pillars in Inclined Weathered Oxidation Zone

    Yingbo Zhang1, Shi Chen1,2,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.3, pp. 707-714, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.013888

Abstract In the mining process of coal mine, waterproof coal pillars should be set between the weathered oxidation zone and the first mining face. In order to determine the reasonable upper limit of the first mining face of Hongyi Coal Mine, the waterproof coal pillar needs to be wide enough to resist the lateral hydrostatic pressure of the oxidation zone, and to ensure that the top plate aquifer does not run through the water guide crack zone, while also liberating as much stagnant coal as possible. In this paper, the first coal mine face’s waterproof coal pillar was calculated using conventional… More >

    Hanpeng Kou1, Tianlong Bu1, Leer Mao1, Yihong Jiao2,*, Chunming Liu2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.4, pp. 1027-1048, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.045358

    Abstract

In order to play a positive role of decentralised wind power on-grid for voltage stability improvement and loss reduction of distribution network, a multi-objective two-stage decentralised wind power planning method is proposed in the paper, which takes into account the network loss correction for the extreme cold region. Firstly, an electro-thermal model is introduced to reflect the effect of temperature on conductor resistance and to correct the results of active network loss calculation; secondly, a two-stage multi-objective two-stage decentralised wind power siting and capacity allocation and reactive voltage optimisation control model is constructed to take account of the network loss… More > Graphic Abstract

    Congcong Wang1, 2, 3, Pengyu Liu1, 2, 3, *, Kebin Jia1, 2, 3, Xiaowei Jia4, Yaoyao Li1, 2, 3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.64, No.3, pp. 2043-2055, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.010505

Abstract Weather phenomenon recognition plays an important role in the field of meteorology. Nowadays, weather radars and weathers sensor have been widely used for weather recognition. However, given the high cost in deploying and maintaining the devices, it is difficult to apply them to intensive weather phenomenon recognition. Moreover, advanced machine learning models such as Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have shown a lot of promise in meteorology, but these models also require intensive computation and large memory, which make it difficult to use them in reality. In practice, lightweight models are often used to solve such problems. However, lightweight models often… More >

Abstract The performance properties of conventional polymeric material have been investigated by modifying it with cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) derived hybrid precursor. The synthesis of hybrid material involved formation of maleic anhydride adduct of CNSL followed by silane modifi cation and subsequent hydrolysis and condensation with tetra ethyl orthosilicate. The developed hybrid material was characterized by a number of instrumental techniques like FT-IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR, as reported in our earlier work. In the present work, we have investigated the effect of CNSL-based hybrid material on the performance properties of conventional alkyd-melamine formaldehyde-based stoving system. The synthesized material was used… More >
