    G. Pandiaraj*, S. Muralidharan

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.3, pp. 3713-3726, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.031463

Abstract Four-wheeled, individual-driven, nonholonomic structured mobile robots are widely used in industries for automated work, inspection and exploration purposes. The trajectory tracking control of the four-wheel individual-driven mobile robot is one of the most blooming research topics due to its nonholonomic structure. The wheel velocities are separately adjusted to follow the trajectory in the old-fashioned kinematic control of skid-steered mobile robots. However, there is no consideration for robot dynamics when using a kinematic controller that solely addresses the robot chassis’s motion. As a result, the mobile robot has limited performance, such as chattering during curved movement. In this research work, a… More >

Abstract A cerebral vascular accident, known as common language stroke, is one of the main causes of mortality and remains the primary cause of acquired disabilities in adults. Those disabled people spend most of their time at home in their living rooms. In most cases, appliances of a living room (TV, light, cooler/heater, window blinds, etc.) are generally controlled by direct manipulation of a set of remote controls. Handling many remote controls can be disturbing and inappropriate for these people. In addition, in many cases these people could be alone at home and must open the door for visitors after their… More >

QL-CBR Hybrid Approach for Adapting Context-Aware Services

    Somia Belaidouni1,2, Moeiz Miraoui3,4,*, Chakib Tadj1

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.43, No.3, pp. 1085-1098, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.024056

Abstract A context-aware service in a smart environment aims to supply services according to user situational information, which changes dynamically. Most existing context-aware systems provide context-aware services based on supervised algorithms. Reinforcement algorithms are another type of machine-learning algorithm that have been shown to be useful in dynamic environments through trial-and-error interactions. They also have the ability to build excellent self-adaptive systems. In this study, we aim to incorporate reinforcement algorithms (Q-learning) into a context-aware system to provide relevant services based on a user’s dynamic context. To accelerate the convergence of reinforcement learning (RL) algorithms and provide the correct services in… More >

    Jean-Claude Ferrandez1,*, Pierre-Henri Ganchou2, Serge Theys3, Maria Torres-Lacomba4, Daniel Serin1

    Oncologie, Vol.24, No.1, pp. 25-33, 2022, DOI:10.32604/oncologie.2022.018110

Abstract Upper limb lympedema is a frequent consequence of breast cancer treatment. The International Society of Lymphology recommends physical therapy for lymphedema management. This treatment includes a combination of manual lymphatic drainage and high-compression bandaging. Actually, the effectiveness of manual lymphatic drainage remains an area of controversy, especially because of the many different techniques called “manual lymphatic drainage” since 1930. The purpose of this review was to emphasise the efficacy of these different techniques according to physiological data and evidence-based practice. To improve the manual lymphatic drainage efficiency, the pressure, sometimes important, should be tailored to each edema and the techniques… More >

    Yanfei Sun1, Feng Qiao2, Wei Wang1, Bin Xu1, Jianming Zhu1, Romany Fouad Mansour3, Jin Qi1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.2, pp. 2825-2843, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.026574

Abstract As a new mode and means of smart manufacturing, smart cloud manufacturing (SCM) faces great challenges in massive supply and demand, dynamic resource collaboration and intelligent adaptation. To address the problem, this paper proposes an SCM-oriented dynamic supply-demand (S-D) intelligent adaptation model for massive manufacturing services. In this model, a collaborative network model is established based on the properties of both the supply-demand and their relationships; in addition, an algorithm based on deep graph clustering (DGC) and aligned sampling (AS) is used to divide and conquer the large adaptation domain to solve the problem of the slow computational speed caused… More >

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.91, No.7, pp. 1517-1528, 2022, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.019630

Abstract Saussurea medusa, Saussurea hypsipeta and Saussurea obvallata are typical alpine snowline plants growing in the Qinghai-Tibet plateau. They are characterized by a specialized morphology. S. medusa and S. hypsipeta have very dense trichomes on whole plant, whereas S. obvallata has transparent bracts covered inflorescences. The different forms reflect their adaptation to cold environments. To investigate the different mechanisms of adaptation of these species to cold temperatures, transcriptome sequencing was performed in three species of Saussurea DC. A total of 116394 137237 and 113879 Unigenes were identified from S. medusa, S. hypsipeta and S. obvallata, respectively. Of these, 55909 (48.03%), 65519… More >

Strengthened Initialization of Adaptive Cross-Generation Differential Evolution

    Wei Wan1, Gaige Wang1,2,3,*, Junyu Dong1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.130, No.3, pp. 1495-1516, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.017987

Abstract Adaptive Cross-Generation Differential Evolution (ACGDE) is a recently-introduced algorithm for solving multiobjective problems with remarkable performance compared to other evolutionary algorithms (EAs). However, its convergence and diversity are not satisfactory compared with the latest algorithms. In order to adapt to the current environment, ACGDE requires improvements in many aspects, such as its initialization and mutant operator. In this paper, an enhanced version is proposed, namely SIACGDE. It incorporates a strengthened initialization strategy and optimized parameters in contrast to its predecessor. These improvements make the direction of crossgeneration mutation more clearly and the ability of searching more efficiently. The experiments show… More >

The Relationship among Chinese Adolescents’ Parental Involvement, Core Self-Evaluation and School Adaptation

    Yi Yang1,*, Tao Li2, Lijun He3,4

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.23, No.4, pp. 521-531, 2021, DOI:10.32604/IJMHP.2021.019290

Abstract The present study discusses the relationship among Chinese adolescents’ parental involvement, core self-evaluation, and school adaptation. The Parental Involvement Behavior Questionnaire, Core Self-Evaluations Scale (CSES), and the School Adaptation Inventory were used to survey 1258 Chinese middle school students. The results showed that adolescents’ school adaptation was significantly positively correlated with parental involvement and core self-evaluation. Furthermore, parental involvement and core self-evaluation were positively correlated. Mediation analysis found that core self-evaluation had partially mediated the relationship between adolescents’ parental involvement and school adaption. Parental involvement could directly affect adolescents’ school adaptation and indirectly affect school adaptation through the mediating effect… More >

    SAMUELE GRECO1,#, ELISA D’AGOSTINO2,#, CHIARA MANFRIN1, ANASTASIA SERENA GAETANO1, GAEL FURLANIS1, FRANCESCA CAPANNI1, GIANFRANCO SANTOVITO2, PAOLO EDOMI1, PIERO GIULIO GIULIANINI1, MARCO GERDOL1,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.45, No.6, pp. 1611-1619, 2021, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.016121

Abstract We here report the de novo transcriptome assembly and functional annotation of Eusirus cf. giganteus clade g3, providing the first database of expressed sequences from this giant Antarctic amphipod. RNA-sequencing, carried out on the whole body of a single juvenile individual likely undergoing molting, revealed the dominant expression of hemocyanins. The mRNAs encoding these oxygen-binding proteins cumulatively accounted for about 40% of the total transcriptional effort, highlighting the key biological importance of high hemocyanin production in this Antarctic amphipod species. We speculate that this observation may mirror a strategy previously described in Antarctic cephalopods, which compensates for the decreased ability… More >
