    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.2, pp. 1301-1322, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.030844

Abstract This study designs a microstrip patch antenna with an inverted T-type notch in the partial ground to detect tumor cells inside the human breast. The size of the current antenna is small enough (18 mm × 21 mm × 1.6 mm) to distribute around the breast phantom. The operating frequency has been observed from 6–14 GHz with a minimum return loss of −61.18 dB and the maximum gain of current proposed antenna is 5.8 dBi which is flexible with respect to the size of antenna. After the distribution of eight antennas around the breast phantom, the return loss curves were observed in the presence and absence of tumor cells inside… More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract A four-element compact dual-band patch antenna having a common ground plane operating at 28/38 GHz is proposed for millimeter-wave communication systems in this paper. The multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna geometry consists of a slotted ellipse enclosed within a hollow circle which is orthogonally rotated with a connected partial ground at the back. The overall size of the four elements MIMO antenna is 2.24λ × 2.24λ (at 27.12 GHz). The prototype of four-element MIMO resonator is designed and printed using Rogers RT Duroid 5880 with εr = 2.2 and loss tangent = 0.0009 and having a thickness of 0.8 mm. It covers… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.47, No.1, pp. 537-551, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.037381

Abstract This paper presents a flexible and wearable textile array antenna designed to generate Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) waves with Mode +2 at 3.5 GHz (3.4 to 3.6 GHz) of the sub-6 GHz fifth-generation (5G) New Radio (NR) band. The proposed antenna is based on a uniform circular array of eight microstrip patch antennas on a felt textile substrate. In contrast to previous works involving the use of rigid substrates to generate OAM waves, this work explored the use of flexible substrates to generate OAM waves for the first time. Other than that, the proposed antenna was simulated, analyzed, fabricated, and… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.18, pp. 1-13, 2022, DOI:10.5098/hmt.18.23

Abstract This study compares thermal characteristics of two design versions of a new low-cost air-cooling system with a standard heat sink profile and built-in flat heat pipes of a simple design with a similar cooling system design without the heat pipes. The aim of the work is to determining the thermal characteristics and choosing the most effective option in a practical context. Using computer simulation in the Solidworks Flow Simulation standard software package allowed determining how the temperature of 8 transistors with a total power of 224 W was affected by changes in air velocity from 1 to 30 m/s, effective… More >

Quantum-Inspired Equilibrium Optimizer for Linear Antenna Array

    Binwen Zhu1, Qifang Luo1,3,*, Yongquan Zhou1,2,3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.137, No.1, pp. 385-413, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.026097

Abstract With the rapid development of communication technology, the problem of antenna array optimization plays a crucial role. Among many types of antennas, line antenna arrays (LAA) are the most commonly applied, but the side lobe level (SLL) reduction is still a challenging problem. In the radiation process of the linear antenna array, the high side lobe level will interfere with the intensity of the antenna target radiation direction. Many conventional methods are ineffective in obtaining the maximum side lobe level in synthesis, and this paper proposed a quantum equilibrium optimizer (QEO) algorithm for line antenna arrays. Firstly, the linear antenna… More >

Intelligent Beetle Antenna Search with Deep Transfer Learning Enabled Medical Image Classification Model

    Mohamed Ibrahim Waly*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.3, pp. 3159-3174, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.035900

Abstract Recently, computer assisted diagnosis (CAD) model creation has become more dependent on medical picture categorization. It is often used to identify several conditions, including brain disorders, diabetic retinopathy, and skin cancer. Most traditional CAD methods relied on textures, colours, and forms. Because many models are issue-oriented, they need a more substantial capacity to generalize and cannot capture high-level problem domain notions. Recent deep learning (DL) models have been published, providing a practical way to develop models specifically for classifying input medical pictures. This paper offers an intelligent beetle antenna search (IBAS-DTL) method for classifying medical images facilitated by deep transfer… More >

Feature Selection with Deep Reinforcement Learning for Intrusion Detection System

    S. Priya1,*, K. Pradeep Mohan Kumar2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.3, pp. 3339-3353, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.030630

Abstract An intrusion detection system (IDS) becomes an important tool for ensuring security in the network. In recent times, machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) models can be applied for the identification of intrusions over the network effectively. To resolve the security issues, this paper presents a new Binary Butterfly Optimization algorithm based on Feature Selection with DRL technique, called BBOFS-DRL for intrusion detection. The proposed BBOFSDRL model mainly accomplishes the recognition of intrusions in the network. To attain this, the BBOFS-DRL model initially designs the BBOFS algorithm based on the traditional butterfly optimization algorithm (BOA) to elect feature subsets.… More >

MSCNN-LSTM Model for Predicting Return Loss of the UHF Antenna in HF-UHF RFID Tag Antenna

    Zhao Yang1, Yuan Zhang1, Lei Zhu2,*, Lei Huang1, Fangyu Hu3, Yanping Du1, Xiaowei Li1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.2, pp. 2889-2904, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.037297

Abstract High-frequency (HF) and ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) dual-band radio frequency identification (RFID) tags with both near-field and far-field communication can meet different application scenarios. However, it is time-consuming to calculate the return loss of a UHF antenna in a dual-band tag antenna using electromagnetic (EM) simulators. To overcome this, the present work proposes a model of a multi-scale convolutional neural network stacked with long and short-term memory (MSCNN-LSTM) for predicting the return loss of UHF antennas instead of EM simulators. In the proposed MSCNN-LSTM, the MSCNN has three branches, which include three convolution layers with different kernel sizes and numbers. Therefore, MSCNN… More >

    Ramya Sridhar1,*, Vijayalakshimi Patteeswaran2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.2, pp. 2109-2122, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.036781

Abstract In this paper, the investigation of a novel compact 2 × 2, 2 × 1, and 1 × 1 Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) based Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) antenna with Defected Ground Structure (DGS) is employed. The proposed Electromagnetic Radiation Structures (ERS) is composed of multiple radiating elements. These MIMO antennas are designed and analyzed with and without DGS. The feeding is introduced by a microstrip-fed line to significantly moderate the radiating structure’s overall size, which is 60 × 40 × 1 mm. The high directivity and divergence characteristics are attained by introducing the microstrip-fed lines perpendicular to each other. And the… More >
