Abstract Auxin signaling and its components (Auxin/Indole-3-Acetic Acid (Aux/IAA)) are critical for plant growth and development. Here, we performed a genome-wide annotation and identified twenty-one Aux/IAA genes in strawberry (Fragaria vesca). Most FveIAAs were located on chromosomes 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6, while no FveIAAs were found in chromosomes 3 and 7. Phylogenetic analysis divided these genes into nine subfamilies. Most FveIAAs contained the DNA-binding and Aux/IAA domains, as well as motifs I–IV. There were 2–6 exons in the FveIAA genes based on the gene structure analysis. Also, we found that four pairs of FveIAA genes underwent segment More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.44, No.4, pp. 751-767, 2020, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2020.012954 - 24 December 2020

Abstract Clubroot of Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa L. ssp. pekinensis), caused by the obligate parasite Plasmodiophora brassicae, accounts for serious yield losses. The aim of our study was to explore the phytohormone levels and metabolome changes in the roots of resistant and susceptible B. rapa genotypes at a late stage of infection, i.e., 28 days post-infection. Both genotypes showed decreased auxin levels after P. brassicae infection except for indole-3-acetic acid. Overall, the susceptible genotype had higher auxin and cytokinin levels after infection, with the exception of trans-zeatin and 3- indolebutyric acid as compared to the resistant genotype. Jasmonic acid levels declined… More >

Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticles Promote Root Growth by Interfering with Auxin Pathways in Arabidopsis thaliana

Jiali Wei*, Ying Zou, Ping Li, Xiaojun Yuan

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.89, No.4, pp. 883-891, 2020, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2020.010973 - 09 November 2020

Abstract TiO2 nanoparticles (nano-TiO2) are widely used in the world, and a considerable amount of nano-TiO2 is released into the environment, with toxic effects on organisms. In the various species of higher plants, growth, including seed germination, root elongation, and biomass accumulation, is affected by nano-TiO2. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain to be elucidated. In this study, we observed that nano-TiO2 promoted root elongation in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, we found that nano-TiO2 elevated auxin accumulation in the root tips of the auxin marker lines DII-VENUS and DR5:: GUS, and, correspondingly, quantitative real-time PCR analysis revealed that nano-TiO2 increased the More >

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.79, pp. 101-108, 2010, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2010.79.101

Abstract Auxin and insulin promote Zea mays embryo growth, induce S6 ribosomal protein (S6rp) phosphorylation, and promote specific protein synthesis. The objective of this research was to test a possible cross-talk between insulin and auxin transduction pathways in Z. mays coleoptiles, typical auxin target tissues. Auxin and insulin produced differential quantitative and qualitative stimulation of cytoplasmic and ribosomal protein phosphorylation, and specific patterns of de novo synthesized cytoplasmic proteins. In addition, insulin induced S6rp phosphorylation was strongly inhibited by rapamycin, indicating target of rapamycin (TOR) kinase participation; auxin-induced S6rp phosphorylation was insensitive to this inhibitor. Phosphatidic acid (PA), a More >

Agrobacterium rhizogenes vs auxinic induction for in vitro rhizogenesis of Prosopis chilensis and Nothofagus alpina

    LUIS A. CARO1, NATALIA SANTECCHIA1, PABLO A. MARINANGELI1, NÉSTOR R. CURVETTO1,2, LUIS F. HERNÁNDEZ1,3

    BIOCELL, Vol.27, No.3, pp. 311-318, 2003, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2003.27.311

Abstract The induction and improvement of in vitro rhizogenesis of microshoots of Prosopis chilensis (Mol.) Stuntz and Nothofagus alpina (Poep. et Endl. Oerst.) were compared using Agrobacterium rhizogenes (Ar) versus indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) in the culture media. Microshoots of P. chilensis (1-2 cm length), coming from in vitro grown seedlings, were cultivated in a modified Broadleaved Tree Medium (BTMm) containing half salt concentration of macronutrients and 0.05 mg.L-1 benzilaminopurine (BAP). After 30 days, microshoots with 2-4 leaves were selected and cultured in BTMm-agar in presence or abscense of Ar and in combination with IBA. For N. alpina, the apical shoots with the first 2 true… More >
