    Bioactivity of Nanohybrid: Comprising of Metallosalen Incorporated into Lacunary Polyoxometalate and Encapsulated with Chitosan Biopolymer

    Abstract Biocompatible polymer chitosan has note-worthy applications in biomedical science. Nanohybrids synthesized by using chitosan as an encapsulating unit for polyoxometalates (POMs) and study of its biomedical applications is a fast-emerging field. In this research work, a lacunary polyoxometalate (α-K8SiW11O39) has been synthesized and then alkylsilane has been inserted into its lacunary position.     Abstract To ensure the export quality of Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract (ELE) and facilitate E. ulmoides leaf inclusion in the directory of traditional Chinese health foods, an overall safety assessment of ELE was performed, including genotoxicity and long-term toxicity, according to the national food safety standards of China. No variations in the reverse mutation number of the nominal bacterial strains were observed under ELE treatment in comparison with the solvent control.     Abstract Asteraceae is one of the largest families of Angiospermae, and contains the Mikania genus. Several species of this family contain polyacetylenic and thiophenic compounds which are used as taxonomic markers. Also, their phototoxic activity acts as plant defense mechanism.
