    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.22, No.1, pp. 65-78, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2024.047879

Abstract This investigation aims to analyze the effects of heat transport characteristics in the unsteady flow of nanofluids over a moving plate caused by a moving slot factor. The BRS variable is utilized for the purpose of analyzing these characteristics. The process of mathematical computation involves converting the governing partial differential equations into ordinary differential equations that have suitable similarity components. The Keller-Box technique is employed to solve the ordinary differential equations (ODEs) and derive the corresponding mathematical outcomes. Figures and tables present the relationship between growth characteristics and various parameters such as temperature, velocity, skin friction coefficient, concentration, Sherwood number,… More > Graphic Abstract

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.22, No.1, pp. 79-105, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2024.046891

Abstract In the current research, a thorough examination unfolds concerning the attributes of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) boundary layer flow and heat transfer inherent to nanoliquids derived from Sisko Al2O3-Eg and TiO2-Eg compositions. Such nanoliquids are subjected to an extending surface. Consideration is duly given to slip boundary conditions, as well as the effects stemming from variable viscosity and variable thermal conductivity. The analytical approach applied involves the application of suitable similarity transformations. These conversions serve to transform the initial set of complex nonlinear partial differential equations into a more manageable assembly of ordinary differential equations. Through the utilization of the FEM, these… More > Graphic Abstract

    Krishnendu Bhattacharyya*

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.3, No.4, pp. 1-6, 2012, DOI:10.5098/hmt.v3.4.3006

Abstract A mathematical model is presented to analyse the steady boundary layer slip flow and mass transfer with nth order chemical reaction past a porous plate embedded in a Darcy porous medium. Velocity as well as mass slips are considered at the boundary. The governing PDEs are transformed into self-similar nonlinear ODEs by similarity transformations. The reduced nonlinear equations are solved numerically. The momentum boundary layer thickness is reduced for increase of permeability and suction parameters, whereas it increases with blowing parameter. The increase of velocity slip parameter reduces the momentum boundary layer thickness and also enhances the mass transfer from… More >

Abstract The combined effects of chemical reaction and viscous dissipation on hydromagnetic mixed convective flow towards a vertical plate embedded in a highly porous medium with radiation and internal heat generation has been examined. The governing boundary layer equations have been transformed to a two-point boundary value problem using a local similarity approach and solved numerically using the Newton Raphson shooting method alongside the Fourth-order Runge - Kutta algorithm. The effects of various embedded parameters on fluid velocity, temperature and concentration have been presented graphically whilst the skin friction coefficient and the rates of heat and mass transfers have been tabulated… More >

    T. M. Agbajea,b, S. S. Motsaa,* , S. Mondalc,† , P. Sibandaa

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.9, pp. 1-13, 2017, DOI:10.5098/hmt.9.36

Abstract In this work, we present a compliment of the spectral perturbation method (SPM) for solving nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) with applications in fluid flow problems. The (SPM) is a series expansion based approach that uses the Chebyshev spectral collocation method to solve the governing sequence of differential equation generated by the perturbation series approximation. Previously the SPM had the limitation of being used to solve problems with small parameters only. This current investigation seeks to improve the performance of the SPM by doing the series expansion about a large parameter. The new method namely the large parameter spectral perturbation… More >

    K. Madhavia,b,*, V. Ramachandra Prasada , N. Nagendraa , G.S.S. Rajub

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.9, pp. 1-12, 2017, DOI:10.5098/hmt.9.29

Abstract In this article, the combined theoretical and computational study of the magneto hydrodynamic heat transfer in an electro-conductive polymer on the external surface of a vertical truncated cone under radial magnetic field is presented. Thermal and velocity (hydrodynamic) slip are considered at the vertical truncated cone surface via modified boundary conditions. The Williamson viscoelastic model is employed which is representative of certain industrial polymers. The governing partial differential equations (PDEs) are transformed into highly nonlinear, coupled, multi-degree non-similar partial differential equations consisting of the momentum and energy equations via appropriate non-similarity transformations. These transformed conservation equations are solved subject to… More >

Mengchen Zhanga , Hui Chenb,*, Ming Shena

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.11, pp. 1-7, 2018, DOI:10.5098/hmt.11.21

Abstract The time fractional Cattaneo-Christov flux heat model is first introduced to investigate the flow and heat transfer of Maxwell viscoelastic fluid past a vertical flat plate. Fractional constitutive relation and Cattaneo-Christov heat flux model are applied to construct the governing boundary layer equations of momentum and energy, which are nondimensionalized by new dimensionless variables and solved numerically. The results indicate that there exist intersections on velocity and temperature profiles for different values of Prandtl number when the fractional Cattaneo-Christov flux heat model is considered.
