Why Insisting in Being Volunteers? A Practical Case Study Exploring from Both Rational and Emotional Perspectives

    Kuei-Feng Chang1, Wen-Goang Yang2, Ya-Wen Cheng3, I-Tung Shih2,*

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.24, No.2, pp. 219-236, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ijmhp.2022.018187

Abstract This study explored the mechanism on how volunteers as rationalists use rationalism during their cognitive appraisal process when dealing with emotional events in their social helping behavior such as international rescue events. The authors used the triangulation method to include three studies (Study 1 is a qualitative research which explored ways of TCF leader’s inspiring their volunteer workers; Study 2 is a quantitative research on the decision-making process of volunteer individuals involving in international rescue activities; Study 3 is a quantitative research on individuals’ motivation for joining social helping behavior) for validation of Tzu Chi Foundation (TCF), which is a… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.2, pp. 4053-4073, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.020048

Abstract There are several challenges that hospitals are facing according to the emergency department (ED). The main two issues are department capacity and lead time. However, the lack of consensus on performance criteria to evaluate ED increases the complication of this process. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the efficiency of the emergency department in 20 Egyptian hospitals (12 private and 8 general hospitals) based on 13 performance metrics. This research suggests an integrated evaluation model assess ED under a framework of plithogenic theory. The proposed framework addressed uncertainty and ambiguity in information with an efficient manner via presenting the evaluation… More >

Techno-Economic Analysis of a Grid-Connected Waste to Energy Gasification Plant: A Case Study

Ahmed Abubakar Elwan*, Mohammed Hafiz Habibuddin

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.6, pp. 1681-1701, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.016291

Abstract With population growth around the world, municipal waste disposal and continued energy demand becomes some of the major challenges to deal with. In order to address these, an approach is required for an optimal waste management system that offers the population benefit with a lower environmental impact. This study evaluates the technical-economic and environmental impact analysis of a grid-connected waste to energy (WtE) plant to power a Univerisiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) community. The energy recovery potential of the waste stream was assessed using the life cycle assessment (LCA) method with GaBiTM software (version 4). A technical, economic and environmental analysis… More >

Two-Stage Production Planning Under Stochastic Demand: Case Study of Fertilizer Manufacturing

    Chia-Nan Wang1, Shao-Dong Syu1,2,*, Chien-Chang Chou3, Viet Tinh Nguyen4, Dang Van Thuy Cuc5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 1195-1207, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019890

Abstract Agriculture is a key facilitator of economic prosperity and nourishes the huge global population. To achieve sustainable agriculture, several factors should be considered, such as increasing nutrient and water efficiency and/or improving soil health and quality. Using fertilizer is one of the fastest and easiest ways to improve the quality of nutrients inland and increase the effectiveness of crop yields. Fertilizer supplies most of the necessary nutrients for plants, and it is estimated that at least 30%–50% of crop yields is attributable to commercial fertilizer nutrient inputs. Fertilizer is always a major concern in achieving sustainable and efficient agriculture. Applying… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.1, pp. 117-128, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.016597

Abstract The trend of cloud computing is accelerating along with emerging technologies such as utility computing, grid computing, and distributed computing. Cloud computing is showing remarkable potential to provide flexible, cost-effective, and powerful resources across the internet, and is a driving force in today’s most prominent computing technologies. The cloud offers the means to remotely access and store data while virtual machines access data over a network resource. Furthermore, cloud computing plays a leading role in the fourth industrial revolution. Everyone uses the cloud daily life when accessing Dropbox, various Google services, and Microsoft Office 365. While there are many advantages… More >

Evaluation Model of Farmer Training Effect Based on AHP–A Case Study of Hainan Province

    Shengjie Li, Chaosheng Tang*

    Journal on Artificial Intelligence, Vol.3, No.2, pp. 55-62, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jai.2021.017408

Abstract On the basis of studying the influencing factors of training effect evaluation, this paper constructs an AHP-fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model for farmers’ vocational training activities in Hainan Province to evaluate farmers’ training effect, which overcomes the limitations of traditional methods. Firstly, the content and index system of farmer training effect evaluation are established by analytic hierarchy process, and the weight value of each index is determined. Then, the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE) of farmer training effect is carried out by using multi-level FCE. The joint use of AHP and FCE improves the reliability and effectiveness of the evaluation process and… More >

Abstract Since December 2019, a new pandemic has appeared causing a considerable negative global impact. The SARS-CoV-2 first emerged from China and transformed to a global pandemic within a short time. The virus was further observed to be spreading rapidly and mutating at a fast pace, with over 5,775 distinct variations of the virus observed globally (at the time of submitting this paper). Extensive research has been ongoing worldwide in order to get a better understanding of its behaviour, influence and more importantly, ways for reducing its impact. Data analytics has been playing a pivotal role in this research to obtain… More >

    Chia-Nan Wang1, Zhao-Hong Cheng2,*, Nguyen Ky Phuc Phan3, Van Thanh Nguyen4

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.38, No.2, pp. 239-249, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.016578

Abstract Production scheduling involves all activities of building production schedules, including coordinating and assigning activities to each person, group of people, or machine and arranging work orders in each workplace. Production scheduling must solve all problems such as minimizing customer wait time, storage costs, and production time; and effectively using the enterprise’s human resources. This paper studies the application of flexible job shop modelling on scheduling a woven labelling process. The labelling process includes several steps which are handled in different work-stations. Each workstation is also comprised of several identical parallel machines. In this study, job splitting is allowed so that… More >

    Mohamed Abdel-Basset1, Rehab Mohamed1, Mohamed Elhoseny2, Mohamed Abouhawash2,3, Yunyoung Nam4,*, Nabil M. AbdelAziz1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.3, pp. 2729-2746, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015316

Abstract Evaluation of commercial banks (CBs) performance has been a significant issue in the financial world and deemed as a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) model. Numerous research assesses CB performance according to different metrics and standers. As a result of uncertainty in decision-making problems and large economic variations in Egypt, this research proposes a plithogenic based model to evaluate Egyptian commercial banks’ performance based on a set of criteria. The proposed model evaluates the top ten Egyptian commercial banks based on three main metrics including financial, customer satisfaction, and qualitative evaluation, and 19 sub-criteria. The proportional importance of the selected criteria… More >
