    S. Ushasukhanya*, M. Karthikeyan

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.2, pp. 1261-1275, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.022654 - 17 November 2021

Abstract Electricity conservation systems are designed to conserve electricity to manage the bridge between the high raising demand and the production. Such systems have been so far using sensors to detect the necessity which adds an additional cost to the setup. Closed-circuit Television (CCTV) has been installed in almost everywhere around us especially in commercial places. Interpretation of these CCTV images is being carried out for various reasons to elicit the information from it. Hence a framework for electricity conservation that enables the electricity supply only when required, using existing resources would be a cost effective… More >

    Juanli Wang1, Ming Cao2, Jiaxin Li1, Kaiyuan Li1, Xiaolian Chao1, Bingjie Mai1, Yuhu Li1,*, Jing Cao1,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.4, pp. 1125-1136, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.018147 - 02 November 2021

Abstract Paper packaging materials like cardboards are widely used to protect archives which are a major kind of cultural relics. Unfortunately, paper is a combustible material, and thus exploring environment-friendly flame retardant for paper-based archive packaging material plays an important role. Herein, boric acid, borax and disodium octaborate are used to modify the craft paper-based packaging materials for archive conservation to improve fire safety. The modified craft paper exhibits much higher flame retardancy than the pristine one dose based on vertical burning tests, without much influence on mechanical properties such as tensile strength and elongation at More > Graphic Abstract

Diversity Assessment of an Endemic Carpinus oblongifolia (Betulaceae) Using Specific-Locus Amplified Fragment Sequencing and Implications for Conservation

Sumei Li, Qing Wang, Peng Wang, Shuan Wang, Rutong Yang, Ya Li*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.91, No.3, pp. 617-632, 2022, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.017741 - 26 October 2021

Abstract Carpinus oblongifolia is an endemic species and the extant wild populations show a fragmentation distribution in the Baohua Mountain of Jiangsu Province in eastern China. Understanding of genetic diversity plays an important role in C. oblongifolia survival and sustainable development. The wild C. oblongifolia population was artificially divided into four subpopulations according to the microhabitats, and another two subpopulations were constructed by progeny seedlings cultivated with the mature seeds. Then, the leaf buds of 80 individuals from six subpopulations were sampled to develop single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) using specific-locus amplified fragment sequencing (SLAF-seq). Based on these SNPs, we… More >

Hybrid Sensor Selection Technique for Lifetime Extension of Wireless Sensor Networks

    Khaled M. Fouad1 , Basma M. Hassan2,*, Omar M. Salim3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.3, pp. 4965-4985, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.020926 - 11 October 2021

    Abstract

Energy conservation is a crucial issue to extend the lifetime of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) where the battery capacity and energy sources are very restricted. Intelligent energy-saving techniques can help designers overcome this issue by reducing the number of selected sensors that report environmental measurements by eliminating all replicated and unrelated features. This paper suggests a Hybrid Sensor Selection (HSS) technique that combines filter-wrapper method to acquire a rich-informational subset of sensors in a reasonable time. HSS aims to increase the lifetime of WSNs by using the optimal number of sensors. At the same time, HSS

Energy Efficient Clustering Protocol to Enhance Network Lifetime in Wireless Sensor Networks

    S. Nanthini1,*, S. Nithya Kalyani2, Sudhakar Sengan3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 3595-3614, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015038 - 06 May 2021

Abstract In this paper, the energy conservation in the ununiform clustered network field is proposed. The fundamental reason behind the methodology is that in the process of CH election, nodes Competition Radius (CR) task is based on not just the space between nodes and their Residual Energy (RE), which is utilized in Energy-Aware Distributed Unequal Clustering (EADUC) protocol but also a third-degree factor, i.e., the nearby multi-hop node count. In contrast, a third-factor nearby nodes count is also used. This surrounding data is taken into account in the clustering feature to increase the network’s life span. More >

Conservation Strategy for African Medicinal Species: In Vitro Biotechnological Approach

    Priyanka Jha1, Swati Chahal2,3, Devendra Kumar Pandey2,3, Joginder Singh4, Ram Prasad5,*, Vijay Kumar2,3,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.89, No.4, pp. 779-794, 2020, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2020.09421 - 09 November 2020

Abstract The use of medicinal plants for different therapeutic values is well documented in African continent. African diverse biodiversity hotspots provide a wide range of endemic species, which ensures a potential medicinal value. The feasible conservation approach and sustainable harvesting for the medicinal species remains a huge challenge. However, conservation approach through different biotechnological tools such as micropropagation, somatic embryogenesis, synthetic seed production, hairy root culture, molecular markers based study and cryopreservation of endemic African medicinal species is much crucial. In this review, an attempt has been made to provide different in vitro biotechnological approaches for the More >

On the Liquid-Vapor Phase-Change Interface Conditions for Numerical Simulation of Violent Separated Flows

    Matthieu Ancellin1, *, Laurent Brosset2, Jean-Michel Ghidaglia1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.16, No.2, pp. 359-381, 2020, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2020.08642 - 21 April 2020

Abstract Numerous models have been proposed in the literature to include phase change into numerical simulations of two-phase flows. This review paper presents the modeling options that have been taken in order to obtain a model for violent separated flows with application to sloshing wave impacts. A relaxation model based on linear non-equilibrium thermodynamics has been chosen to compute the rate of phase change. The integration in the system of partial differential equations is done through a non-conservative advection term. For each of these modelling choices, some alternative models from the literature are presented and discussed. More >

A Dual-Support Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics for Weakly Compressible Fluid Inspired By the Dual-Horizon Peridynamics

    Huilong Ren1, Xiaoying Zhuang2,3,*, Timon Rabczuk1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.121, No.2, pp. 353-383, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2019.05146

Abstract A dual-support smoothed particle hydrodynamics (DS-SPH) that allows variable smoothing lengths while satisfying the conservations of linear momentum, angular momentum and energy is developed. The present DS-SPH is inspired by the dual-support, a concept introduced from dual-horizon peridynamics from the authors and applied here to SPH so that the unbalanced interactions between the particles with different smoothing lengths can be correctly considered and computed. Conventionally, the SPH formulation employs either the influence domain or the support domain. The concept of dual-support identifies that the influence domain and the support domain involves the duality and should More >
