    Abstract This article presents a three dimensional constitutive model for anisotropic damage to describe the elastic-brittle behavior of unidirectional fibrereinforced laminated composites. The primary objective of the article focuses on the three dimensional relationship between damage of the material and the effective elastic properties for the purpose of stress analysis of composite structures, in extension to the two dimensional model in Matzenmiller, Lubliner and Taylor (1995).     A 3D Constitutive Model for Magnetostrictive Materials

    Abstract This paper is concerned with a 3-D general constitutive law of nonlinear magneto-thermo-elastic coupling for magnetostrictive materials. The model considered here is thermodynamically motivated and based on the Gibbs free energy function. A set of closed and analytical expressions of the constitutive relationships for the magnetostrictive materials are obtained, in which all parameters can be determined by those measurable experiments in mechanics and physics. Then the model can be simplified to two cases, i.e. magnetostrictive rods and films. It is found that the predictions from this model are in good accordance with the experimental data including both rods and films.… More >

    Abstract Large and complex macro-micro coupled constitutive models, which describe metal flow and microstructure evolution during metal forming, are sometimes overparameterized with respect to given sets of experimental datum. This results in poorly identifiable or non-identifiable model parameters. In this paper, a systemic parameter identification method for the large macro-micro coupled constitutive models is proposed.     Abstract Continuum-based modeling of nanostructures is an efficient and suitable method to study the behavior of these structures when the deformation can be considered homogeneous. This paper is concerned about multiscale nonlinear tensorial constitutive modeling of carbon nanostructures based on the interatomic potentials. The proposed constitutive model is a tensorial equation relating the second Piola-Kirchhoff stress tensor to Green-Lagrange strain tensor.
