Evaluation of the structural and physical properties of CdxZn1-xS nanocomposites depending technological condition

    L. Gahramanlia,b,c,*, M. Muradova, G. Eyvazovaa, A. Karimovaa, M. Jafarovb

    Chalcogenide Letters, Vol.22, No.2, pp. 109-121, 2025, DOI:10.15251/CL.2025.222.109

Abstract The study presents nanocomposite materials based on CdxZn1-xS, synthesized as thin films and nanoparticles through two distinct techniques—sonochemical and SILAR synthesis techniques. The characteristics of these materials were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Ultraviolet spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). In the sonochemical approach, samples were prepared with three different stabilizers for comparative analysis to determine influence of type of the stabilizers. Meanwhile, the SILAR approach created thin layers with different components (distinctive x value-CdxZn1-xS) at various grown temperatures utilizing polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as a substrate. At the same time, nanocomposite More >

Features of structural ordering and magnetic properties of the cobalt intercalates of titanium dichalcogenides

    N. V. Urusovaa,*, A. I. Merentsovb,c, E. A. Stepanovaa,c, O. G. Reznitskikha

    Chalcogenide Letters, Vol.20, No.5, pp. 343-351, 2023, DOI:10.15251/CL.2023.205.343

Abstract CoxTiS2 (x = 0.20, 0.30, 0.50, 0.75) compounds have a layered crystal structure with Ti atoms surrounded by the S octahedrons in the S-Ti-S layers and Co ions which could be surrounded both by the S octahedrons and tetrahedrons. The features of the crystal structure and magnetic properties of the polycrystalline CoxTiS2 samples were studied as a function of the cobalt concentration using X-ray diffraction and magnetization measurements. The disordered state of the Co atoms (x < 0.20) changes to the ordered one (x ≥ 0.20). The magnetic ordering arises at x = 0.20 with mostly More >

Effect of the Proportion of Bamboo Scraps on the Properties of Bamboo Scraps/Magnesium Oxychloride Composites

Long Zheng, Yiqiang Wu, Shu Wang, Guoan Sheng, Baorong Sun, Yingfeng Zuo*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.9, No.10, pp. 1729-1739, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2021.015143 - 12 May 2021

Abstract This study was designed to solve the problem of large waste volume from bamboo processing residues in recent years. Using magnesium oxychloride (MO) cementitious material as the main material and bamboo residue (BR) as the reinforcing material, a BR/MO composite material was prepared. The effects of BR amount on the molding properties, mechanical strength, and water resistance of BR/MO composites were examined and discussed. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), and thermogravimetric analysis were used to characterize composite microscopic morphology, crystalline structure, and heat resistance. The results showed that, when the BR content was… More >

Amylose Content, Morphology, Crystal Structure, and Thermal Properties of Starch Grains in Main and Ratoon Rice Crops

Na Kuang, Huabin Zheng, Qiyuan Tang*, Yuanwei Chen, Xiaomin Wang, Youyi Luo

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.90, No.4, pp. 1119-1230, 2021, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2021.014637 - 27 April 2021

Abstract Rice ratooning, or the production of a second rice crop from stubble after the harvest of the main crop, is considered to be a green and resource-efficient rice production system. The present study was conducted to examine variance in amylose content (AC), grain morphology, crystal structure, and thermal properties of starch between main- and ratoon-season rice of seven varieties. Ratoon-season rice grains had higher ACs and significantly lower transition gelatinization temperatures (To, Tp, and Tc) than did main-season rice grains. The relative crystallinity and lamellar peak intensity of ratoon-season rice starch were 7.89% and 20.38% lower, respectively, More >

A Discrete Fourier Transform Framework for Localization Relations

    D.T. Fullwood1, S.R. Kalidindi2, B.L. Adams1, S. Ahmadi1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.9, No.1, pp. 25-40, 2009, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2009.009.025

Abstract Localization relations arise naturally in the formulation of multi-scale models. They facilitate statistical analysis of local phenomena that may contribute to failure related properties. The computational burden of dealing with such relations is high and recent work has focused on spectral methods to provide more efficient models. Issues with the inherent integrations in the framework have led to a tendency towards calibration-based approaches. In this paper a discrete Fourier transform framework is introduced, leading to an extremely efficient basis for the localization relations. Previous issues with the Green's function integrals are resolved, and the method More >
