    Oncologie, Vol.23, No.4, pp. 493-514, 2021, DOI:10.32604/oncologie.2021.018532

Abstract The relevance of Retinoic acid receptor-related orphan receptors in cancer progression has sparked interest in developing multifunctional therapeutics. In the search for potentially active novel compounds with anticancer characteristics, the Gewald reaction was employed to develop different thiophene derivatives (8a–8i). Physicochemical and spectroanalytical investigations verified the molecular structures of the synthesized derivatives. Using an in vitro primary anticancer assay, NCI chose all of the synthesized molecules as prototypes and assessed their anticancer efficacy against a panel of various cancer cell lines representing nine distinct neoplasms. The compounds were found to have a wide range of anticancer activity. Following significant anticancer… More >

    Ritam Sharma1, Janki Ballabh Sharma1, Ranjan Maheshwari1, Praveen Agarwal2,3,4,5,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.130, No.2, pp. 923-947, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.016065

Abstract In this paper, a novel hybrid texture feature set and fractional derivative filter-based breast cancer detection model is introduced. This paper also introduces the application of a histogram of linear bipolar pattern features (HLBP) for breast thermogram classification. Initially, breast tissues are separated by masking operation and filtered by Grmwald–Letnikov fractional derivative-based Sobel mask to enhance the texture and rectify the noise. A novel hybrid feature set using HLBP and other statistical feature sets is derived and reduced by principal component analysis. Radial basis function kernel-based support vector machine is employed for detecting the abnormality in the thermogram. The performance… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.1, pp. 287-304, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.021987

Abstract Hyperuricemia is an alarming issue that contributes to cardiovascular disease. Uric acid (UA) level was proven to be related to pulse wave velocity, a marker of arterial stiffness. A hyperuricemia prediction method utilizing photoplethysmogram (PPG) and arteriograph by using machine learning (ML) is proposed. From the literature search, there is no available papers found that relates PPG with UA level even though PPG is highly associated with vessel condition. The five phases in this research are data collection, signal preprocessing including denoising and signal quality indexes, features extraction for PPG and SDPPG waveform, statistical analysis for feature selection and classification… More >

Hsiao Wei Tan1, Zhi Yin Joan Lim2, Nur Airina Muhamad3, Fong Fong Liew4,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.4, pp. 909-938, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.018183

Abstract With a growing population, changes in consumerism behavior and trends in consumption in Indo-Pacific Asia, our seafood processing and consumption practices produce a large volume of waste products. There are several advantages in regulating and sustaining shellfish processing industries. The major advantage of waste management is that it leads to better conservation of natural resources in the long run. Shrimp shell waste contains useful biomaterials, which are still untapped due to inadequate waste disposal and solid waste management. Chitin, the major component of shell waste, can be extracted either chemically or biologically. The chemical extraction approaches, which use acids and… More > Graphic Abstract

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.2, pp. 2209-2224, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019120

Abstract In this study, it is proposed that the diffusion least mean square (LMS) algorithm can be improved by applying the fractional order signal processing methodologies. Application of Caputo’s fractional derivatives are considered in the optimization of cost function. It is suggested to derive a fractional order variant of the diffusion LMS algorithm. The applicability is tested for the estimation of channel parameters in a distributed environment consisting of randomly distributed sensors communicating through wireless medium. The topology of the network is selected such that a smaller number of nodes are informed. In the network, a random sleep strategy is followed… More >

Moving Least Squares Interpolation Based A-Posteriori Error Technique in Finite Element Elastic Analysis

Mohd Ahmed1,*, Devender Singh2, Saeed Al Qadhi1, Nguyen Viet Thanh3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.129, No.1, pp. 167-189, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.014672

Abstract The performance of a-posteriori error methodology based on moving least squares (MLS) interpolation is explored in this paper by varying the finite element error recovery parameters, namely recovery points and field variable derivatives recovery. The MLS interpolation based recovery technique uses the weighted least squares method on top of the finite element method's field variable derivatives solution to build a continuous field variable derivatives approximation. The boundary of the node support (mesh free patch of influenced nodes within a determined distance) is taken as circular, i.e., circular support domain constructed using radial weights is considered. The field variable derivatives (stress… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.128, No.3, pp. 1247-1263, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.015224

Abstract Diabetes is a burning issue in the whole world. It is the imbalance between body glucose and insulin. The study of this imbalance is very much needed from a research point of view. For this reason, Bergman gave an important model named-Bergman minimal model. In the present work, using Caputo-Fabrizio (CF) fractional derivative, we generalize Bergman’s minimal blood glucose-insulin model. Further, we modify the old model by including one more component known as diet D(t), which is also essential for the blood glucose model. We solve the modified model with the help of Sumudu transform and fixed-point iteration procedures. Also,… More >

    I. G. Ameen1, N. A. Elkot2, M. A. Zaky3,*, A. S. Hendy4,5, E. H. Doha2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.128, No.1, pp. 21-41, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.015310

Abstract We target here to solve numerically a class of nonlinear fractional two-point boundary value problems involving left- and right-sided fractional derivatives. The main ingredient of the proposed method is to recast the problem into an equivalent system of weakly singular integral equations. Then, a Legendre-based spectral collocation method is developed for solving the transformed system. Therefore, we can make good use of the advantages of the Gauss quadrature rule. We present the construction and analysis of the collocation method. These results can be indirectly applied to solve fractional optimal control problems by considering the corresponding Euler–Lagrange equations. Two numerical examples… More >

    Muhammad Amin1, Muhammad Abbas2,*, Dumitru Baleanu3,4,5, Muhammad Kashif Iqbal6, Muhammad Bilal Riaz7

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.127, No.1, pp. 361-384, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.012720

Abstract This work is concerned with the application of a redefined set of extended uniform cubic B-spline (RECBS) functions for the numerical treatment of time-fractional Telegraph equation. The presented technique engages finite difference formulation for discretizing the Caputo time-fractional derivatives and RECBS functions to interpolate the solution curve along the spatial grid. Stability analysis of the scheme is provided to ensure that the errors do not amplify during the execution of the numerical procedure. The derivation of uniform convergence has also been presented. Some computational experiments are executed to verify the theoretical considerations. Numerical results are compared with the existing schemes… More >
