In-Vivo Chromophore Characterization of the Human Skin

Qiaoyun Yu, Shibin Wang*, Zhiyong Wang, Chuanwei Li, Linan Li

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.34, No.1, pp. 1-1, 2025, DOI:10.32604/icces.2025.011080

Abstract The concentration of chromophores in the human skin provides crucial information for non-invasive skin diagnostics, particularly in clinical and dermatological applications [1,2]. However, only a few studies have reported chromophore concentration measurements at different skin depths [3,4]. This paper introduces a method for the tomographic measurement of skin chromophore concentrations using reflectance spectra. By considering the variations in hemoglobin content at different skin depths, we developed a dual-band skin reflectance spectral model and employed a hyperspectral camera to measure the in vivo spectral reflectance of the human skin. Chromophores including oxyhemoglobin, deoxyhemoglobin, blood oxygen, and melanin… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.137, No.3, pp. 2867-2879, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.026200 - 03 August 2023

Abstract A four-element compact dual-band patch antenna having a common ground plane operating at 28/38 GHz is proposed for millimeter-wave communication systems in this paper. The multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna geometry consists of a slotted ellipse enclosed within a hollow circle which is orthogonally rotated with a connected partial ground at the back. The overall size of the four elements MIMO antenna is 2.24λ × 2.24λ (at 27.12 GHz). The prototype of four-element MIMO resonator is designed and printed using Rogers RT Duroid 5880 with εr = 2.2 and loss tangent = 0.0009 and having a thickness of More >

Shafayat Hossain1, Md. Iquebal Hossain Patwary1, Sikder Sunbeam Islam1, Sultan Mahmud1,2, Norbahiah Binti Misran2, Ali F. Almutairi3, Mohammad Tariqul Islam2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.3, pp. 5817-5836, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.022042 - 14 January 2022

Abstract This paper presents a new Double-E-Triple-H-Shaped NRI (negative refractive index) metamaterial (MM) for dual-band microwave sensing applications. Here, a horizontal H-shaped metal structure is enclosed by two face-to-face E-shaped metal structures. This double-E-H-shaped design is also encased by two vertical H-shaped structures along with some copper links. Thus, the Double-E-Triple-H-Shaped configuration is developed. Two popular substrate materials of Rogers RO 3010 and FR-4 were adopted for analyzing the characteristics of the unit cell. The proposed structure exhibits transmission resonance inside the S-band with NRI and ENG (Epsilon Negative) metamaterial properties, and inside the C-band with… More >

    Shiv Narayan1, Latha S.1 and R M Jha1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.39, No.3, pp. 217-230, 2014, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2014.039.217

Abstract The EM analysis of multi-layered metamaterial based radar absorbing structure (RAS) with dual-band characteristics in millimeter wave frequency regime has been carried out in this paper using transmission line transfer matrix (TLTM) method for TE and TM polarizations. The proposed metamaterial-based RAS exhibits dual-band characteristics at centre frequencies 120 GHz and 175 GHz with very low power reflection. It absorbs more than 90% power of incidence wave over the frequency range from 111-131 GHz at first resonance and from 164.5-185 GHz at second resonance without metal backing plate, which is desirable for stealth applications. Electromagnetic Performance Analysis of Novel Multi-band Metamaterial FSS for Millimeter Wave Radome Applications

    Shiv Narayan1, Shamala Joshi B1, Raveendranath U. Nair1, R M Jha1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.31, No.1, pp. 1-16, 2012, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2012.031.001

Abstract The electromagnetic design and performance analysis of dual/ multi-band metamaterial frequency selective surface (FSS) structures have been carried out for radome applications in microwave and millimeter wave frequency regimes. The proposed metamaterial FSS structure, consisting of cascaded MNG (mu-nega -tive) and DPS (double positive) layers, exhibits dual-band transmission responses at V-band and W-band. Excellent transmission efficiency (more than 95%) has been obtained over the frequency range 45.8-53.1 GHz at first resonance, and from 93.0-97.1 GHz at second resonance. The incorporation of additional DPS layer to the proposed metamaterial-FSS structure facilitates multiband bandpass characteristics at 30 More >
