    Haojie Jia1,2, Hong Du1,2,*, Muhmmad Aslam1,2, Tangcheng Li1,2, Canqi Zheng1,2, Xihui Xie1,2, Nan Huang1,2, Honghao Liang1,2, Pengbing Pei1,2, Ping Li1,2, Weizhou Chen1,2, Xiaojuan Liu1,2

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.1, pp. 91-110, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.022663

Abstract Sulfur is an essential macronutrient for the growth of all photosynthetic organisms and plays important roles in different metabolic pathways. However, sulfur metabolism and its related research on macroalgae with important ecological value is rather limited. In this study, marine ecological valued macroalga Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis was used to study the general physiological responses and transcriptome profiling under the sulfate deficiency. The relative growth rate of algae under sulfate deficiency was statistically significantly lower than that of control after 6 days. However, no significant differences were observed in the pigments content and Fv/Fm value, indicating that the photosynthesis was not obviously… More >

Black Widow Optimization for Multi Area Economic Emission Dispatch

    G. Girishkumar1,*, S. Ganesan2, N. Jayakumar3, S. Subramanian4

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.1, pp. 609-625, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.027514

Abstract The optimization field has grown tremendously, and new optimization techniques are developed based on statistics and evolutionary procedures. Therefore, it is necessary to identify a suitable optimization technique for a particular application. In this work, Black Widow Optimization (BWO) algorithm is introduced to minimize the cost functions in order to optimize the Multi-Area Economic Dispatch (MAED). The BWO is implemented for two different-scale test systems, comprising 16 and 40 units with three and four areas. The performance of BWO is compared with the available optimization techniques in the literature to demonstrate the strategy’s efficacy. Results show that the optimized cost… More >

Economic Analysis of Demand Response Incorporated Optimal Power Flow

    Ulagammai Meyyappan*, S. Joyal Isac

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.1, pp. 399-413, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.026627

Abstract Demand Response (DR) is one of the most cost-effective and unfailing techniques used by utilities for consumer load shifting. This research paper presents different DR programs in deregulated environments. The description and the classification of DR along with their potential benefits and associated cost components are presented. In addition, most DR measurement indices and their evaluation are also highlighted. Initially, the economic load model incorporated thermal, wind, and energy storage by considering the elasticity market price from its calculated locational marginal pricing (LMP). The various DR programs like direct load control, critical peak pricing, real-time pricing, time of use, and… More >

Combined Economic and Emission Power Dispatch Control Using Substantial Augmented Transformative Algorithm

    T. R. Manikandan*, Venkatesan Thangavelu

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.1, pp. 431-447, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.026546

Abstract The purpose of the Combined Economic Emission Dispatch (CEED) of electric power is to offer the most exceptional schedule for production units, which must run with both low fuel costs and emission levels concurrently, thereby meeting the lack of system equality and inequality constraints. Economic and emissions dispatching has become a primary and significant concern in power system networks. Consequences of using non-renewable fuels as input to exhaust power systems with toxic gas emissions and depleted resources for future generations. The optimal power allocation to generators serves as a solution to this problem. Emission dispatch reduces emissions while ignoring economic… More >

Low Carbon Economic Dispatch of Integrated Energy System Considering Power Supply Reliability and Integrated Demand Response

Jian Dong, Haixin Wang, Junyou Yang*, Liu Gao, Kang Wang, Xiran Zhou

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.132, No.1, pp. 319-340, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020394

Abstract Integrated energy system optimization scheduling can improve energy efficiency and low carbon economy. This paper studies an electric-gas-heat integrated energy system, including the carbon capture system, energy coupling equipment, and renewable energy. An energy scheduling strategy based on deep reinforcement learning is proposed to minimize operation cost, carbon emission and enhance the power supply reliability. Firstly, the low-carbon mathematical model of combined thermal and power unit, carbon capture system and power to gas unit (CCP) is established. Subsequently, we establish a low carbon multi-objective optimization model considering system operation cost, carbon emissions cost, integrated demand response, wind and photovoltaic curtailment,… More >

Neighborhood Disadvantage and Self-Esteem—Do Socioeconomic and Relational Resources Matter?

    Joongbaeck Kim1, Manacy Pai2,*

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.24, No.3, pp. 311-329, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ijmhp.2022.017555

Abstract Extensive research suggests that living in a socioeconomically disadvantaged neighborhood is associated with poor mental health. Few studies, however, have examined (1) whether neighborhood disadvantage is associated with residents’ self-esteem; and (2) the extent to which individual-level socioeconomic resources such as income and education, and relational resources such as marriage and social support moderate the association between neighborhood disadvantage and self-esteem. This study employs data from the Americans’ Changing Lives panel survey (hereafter ACL), a 15-year panel study of the U.S. adult population ages 25 and older in original sample. Because hierarchical linear model was employed to analyze data, findings… More >

Prediction of the Behavior of a Power System Using Root Cause Failure Analysis

Seyed Mohammad Seyed Hosseini*, Kamran Shahanaghi, Safar Shasfand

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.3, pp. 815-833, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.019626

    Abstract

The thermo-economic performance of a gas turbine is simulated using a fish bone technique to characterize the major equipment failure causes. Moreover a fault tree analysis and a Pareto technique are implemented to identify the related failure modes, and the percentage and frequency of failures, respectively. A pump 101 and drier 301 belonging to the Tabriz Petrochemical Company are considered for such analysis, which is complemented with a regression method to determine a behavioral model of this equipment over a twenty-year period. Research findings indicate that 81% of major failure factors in production equipment are related to the executive procedures… More >
