Study on the Economic Insulation Thickness of the Buried Hot Oil Pipelines Based on Environment Factors

Shihao Fan, Mingliang Chang*, Shouxi Wang, Qing Quan, Yong Wang, Dan Li

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.124, No.1, pp. 45-59, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.08973

Abstract It is important to determine the insulation thickness in the design of the buried hot oil pipelines. The economic thickness of the insulation layer not only meets the needs of the project but also maximizes the investment and environmental benefits. However, as a significant evaluation, the environmental factors haven’t been considered in the previous study. Considering this factor, the mathematical model of economic insulation thickness of the buried hot oil pipelines is built in this paper, which is solved by the golden section method while considering the costs of investment, operation, environment, the time value of money. The environmental cost… More >

Mortality trends from congenital malformations of the heart and the great vessels in children and adults in the seven socioeconomic regions of Mexico, 2000‐2015

    Juan Jesús Sánchez‐Barriga

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.13, No.5, pp. 690-699, 2018, DOI:10.1111/chd.12631

Abstract Background: Congenital heart disease (CHD) represents a global health problem. In Mexico, in children <1 year of age it is the second cause of mortality. The aim was to determine mortality trends from CHD and the great vessels in children and adults nationwide, by state and socioeconomic region.
Methods: Records of mortality associated to CHD and the great vessels for 2000‐2015 were obtained from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography. This information is collected from death certificates issued nationwide. International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision, codes corresponding to the basic cause of death from CHD and the great vessels.… More >

Association between Economic Activity and Cognitive Health: A Population-Based Observational Study

Jae Hyun Kim1, Tae Hyun Kim2,3,*

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.22, No.1, pp. 1-9, 2020, DOI:10.32604/IJMHP.2020.010995

Abstract This study investigates whether restricted participation in productive activity is associated with cognitive health in Korea. Furthermore, given the enormous socioeconomic disparities between aging and gender differences in employment, we also examine whether these associations vary by gender and age. Data from the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing (KLoSA) from 2006 to 2016 was used and 9,942 subjects were included at baseline in 2006. To analyze the association between restricted economic activity due to health condition and cognitive function, generalized estimating equation (GEE) model and chi-square test were used. Of the 9,942 individuals at baseline in 2006, the odds ratio… More >

Mechanical Experimental Study on Tensile Bolted Connections of Crosslaminated Timber

    Chenxiao Su, Haibei Xiong*

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.14, No.1, pp. 81-94, 2020, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2020.08221

Abstract In order to explore a kind of high-strength, earthquake-resistant, economical and suitable connection, 4 groups of cross-laminated timber wall-to-floor and wall-to-wall bolted connections were tested under monotonic and cyclic loading. The deformation characteristics and failure modes of the cross-laminated timber wall-to-floor and wall-to-wall bolted connections were exploited. Load-slip curves, bearing capacity, yielding point, stiffness and ductility of each group of specimens were analyzed. The test results indicate that the loading process of cross-laminated timber bolted connections under tension can be categorized as five stages, namely the elastic stage, the slip stage, the embedding stage, the yielding stage and the ultimate… More >

The Volatility of High-Yield Bonds Using Mixed Data Sampling Methods

    Maojun Zhang1,2, Jiajin Yao1, Zhonghang Xia3, Jiangxia Nan1,*, Cuiqing Zhang1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.61, No.3, pp. 1233-1244, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.06118

Abstract It is well known that economic policy uncertainty prompts the volatility of the high-yield bond market. However, the correlation between economic policy uncertainty and volatility of high-yield bonds is still not clear. In this paper, we employ GARCH-MIDAS models to investigate their correlation with US economic policy uncertainty index and S&P high-yield bond index. The empirical studies show that mixed volatility models can effectively capture the realized volatility of high-yield bonds, and economic policy uncertainty and macroeconomic factors have significant effects on the long-term component of high-yield bonds volatility. A. Alexenadrescu1, A.S. Alex,rescu1, A.C. Alexandrescu1

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.8, No.2, pp. 47-58, 2008, DOI:10.3970/icces.2008.008.047

Abstract The paper follows the analyse of the connections between the constructive, working parameters, the annual energy consumptions and the energy quantity included in fitting out; it will formulate a methodology of establishment of the optimum values of the parameters of admeasurements of the pumping stations for the setting under pressure, of pipes networks, what ensure an optimum consumption of energy during of duty of the fitting out (the operational energy and the included energy in the networks, equipment and constructions), of the conditions after that it can be obtained. It will follow the generalization of the solutions of increase of… More >
