    R. Kanthavel1,*, R. Dhaya2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.1, pp. 649-659, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.019779

Abstract Wireless Underground Sensor Networks (WUSNs) refer to a group of nodes working underneath the earth plane that has been predicted to render concurrent observation capability in the hostile subversive and underwater surroundings. The accurate monitoring in places like underground earth, water, lubricates so on called non-conventional media need high accuracy of tiny sized sensors with antennas at a similar size. Therefore, an investigation is needed to study the opportunities and drawbacks of utilizing WUSNs without compromising the effectiveness of real-time monitoring procedures. With this, the major confrontation is to institute a trustworthy underground communication regardless of the complex environment that… More >

Energy Efficient Clustering Protocol to Enhance Network Lifetime in Wireless Sensor Networks

    S. Nanthini1,*, S. Nithya Kalyani2, Sudhakar Sengan3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 3595-3614, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015038

Abstract In this paper, the energy conservation in the ununiform clustered network field is proposed. The fundamental reason behind the methodology is that in the process of CH election, nodes Competition Radius (CR) task is based on not just the space between nodes and their Residual Energy (RE), which is utilized in Energy-Aware Distributed Unequal Clustering (EADUC) protocol but also a third-degree factor, i.e., the nearby multi-hop node count. In contrast, a third-factor nearby nodes count is also used. This surrounding data is taken into account in the clustering feature to increase the network’s life span. The proposed method, known as… More >

Cogent and Energy Efficient Authentication Protocol for WSN in IoT

    Tariq Mahmood Butt1, Rabia Riaz1, Chinmay Chakraborty2, Sanam Shahla Rizvi3, Anand Paul4,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.2, pp. 1877-1898, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014966

Abstract Given the accelerating development of Internet of things (IoT), a secure and robust authentication mechanism is urgently required as a critical architectural component. The IoT has improved the quality of everyday life for numerous people in many ways. Owing to the predominantly wireless nature of the IoT, connected devices are more vulnerable to security threats compared to wired networks. User authentication is thus of utmost importance in terms of security on the IoT. Several authentication protocols have been proposed in recent years, but most prior schemes do not provide sufficient security for these wireless networks. To overcome the limitations of… More >

Secure and Energy Efficient Data Transmission Model for WSN

    Anuj Kumar Singh1, Mohammed Alshehri2,*, Shashi Bhushan3, Manoj Kumar3, Osama Alfarraj4, Kamal Raj Pardarshani5

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.27, No.3, pp. 761-769, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.012806

Abstract Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have been used in numerous delicate checking, observation, and surveillance systems that use sensitive data. When a WSN utilizes various data clustering techniques, data is moved to the cluster head (CH) of the corresponding cluster area. Cluster Head further communicates the information to the sink node. In a WSN, a network owner (NO) does not validate a sensor before connecting to the network, so faulty nodes may likely attach to the network to sense the data and attempt to release the information to unauthorized persons. Further, a malicious node may become a mobile node (MN) equipped… More >

Energy Efficient Ambience Awake Routing with OpenFlow Approach

Hima Bindu Valiveti1,*, SNV Ganesh2, Budati Anil Kumar1, Dileep Kumar Yadav3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.2, pp. 2049-2059, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014690

Abstract A major problem in networking has always been energy consumption. Battery life is one parameter which could help improve Energy Efficiency. Existing research on wireless networking stresses on reducing signaling messages or time required for data transfer for addressing energy consumption issues. Routing or Forwarding packets in a network between the network elements like routers, switches, wireless access points, etc., is complex in conventional networks. With the advent of Software Defined Networking (SDN) for 5G network architectures, the distributed networking has embarked onto centralized networking, wherein the SDN Controller is responsible for decision making. The controller pushes its decision onto… More >

Development of Environmentally Friendly and Energy Efficient Refrigerants for Refrigeration Systems

    Piyanut Saengsikhiao1, Juntakan Taweekun1,2,*, Kittinan Maliwan2, Somchai Sae-ung2, Thanansak Theppaya2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.2, pp. 411-433, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.012860

Abstract This paper presents the improvement of eco-friendly and power consumption saving refrigerants for refrigeration systems. The novel azeotropic refrigerant mixtures of HFCs and HCs can replace refrigeration systems, and using the R134, R32, R125, and R1270 refrigerants in several compositions found using the decision tree function of the RapidMiner software (which came first in the KDnuggets annual software poll). All refrigerant results are mixed of POE, which is A1 classification refrigerant, non-flammable, and innocuous refrigerant, and using REFPROP software and CYCLE_D-HX software are under the CAN/ANSI/AHRI540 standards. The boiling point of the new refrigerant mix R-No.595 is 4.58%, lower than… More >

A Comprehensive Utility Function for Resource Allocation in Mobile Edge Computing

    Zaiwar Ali1, Sadia Khaf2, Ziaul Haq Abbas2, Ghulam Abbas3, Lei Jiao4, Amna Irshad2, Kyung Sup Kwak5, Muhammad Bilal6,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.2, pp. 1461-1477, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.013743

Abstract In mobile edge computing (MEC), one of the important challenges is how much resources of which mobile edge server (MES) should be allocated to which user equipment (UE). The existing resource allocation schemes only consider CPU as the requested resource and assume utility for MESs as either a random variable or dependent on the requested CPU only. This paper presents a novel comprehensive utility function for resource allocation in MEC. The utility function considers the heterogeneous nature of applications that a UE offloads to MES. The proposed utility function considers all important parameters, including CPU, RAM, hard disk space, required… More >

    Geetha N., Sankar A.

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.24, No.4, pp. 711-719, 2018, DOI:10.1080/10798587.2017.1309003

Abstract The routing protocol for an ad hoc network should be efficient in utilizing the available resources to prolong the network lifetime. A Multi Criterion Fuzzy based Energy Efficient Routing Protocol (MCFEER) for Ad hoc Networks selects the path on constraints like bandwidth, battery life, hop count and buffer occupancy. In the route discovery phase, fuzzy system is applied for optimal route selection by destination node leading to successful data transmission. Multiple stable paths are preserved in route cache for usage during the route maintenance phase. The results are competitive when compared with Power aware Energy Efficient Routing (PEER) protocol using… More >
