Energy Efficient Ambience Awake Routing with OpenFlow Approach

Hima Bindu Valiveti1,*, SNV Ganesh2, Budati Anil Kumar1, Dileep Kumar Yadav3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.2, pp. 2049-2059, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014690 - 05 February 2021

Abstract A major problem in networking has always been energy consumption. Battery life is one parameter which could help improve Energy Efficiency. Existing research on wireless networking stresses on reducing signaling messages or time required for data transfer for addressing energy consumption issues. Routing or Forwarding packets in a network between the network elements like routers, switches, wireless access points, etc., is complex in conventional networks. With the advent of Software Defined Networking (SDN) for 5G network architectures, the distributed networking has embarked onto centralized networking, wherein the SDN Controller is responsible for decision making. The… More >

Development of Environmentally Friendly and Energy Efficient Refrigerants for Refrigeration Systems

    Piyanut Saengsikhiao1, Juntakan Taweekun1,2,*, Kittinan Maliwan2, Somchai Sae-ung2, Thanansak Theppaya2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.2, pp. 411-433, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.012860 - 23 December 2020

Abstract This paper presents the improvement of eco-friendly and power consumption saving refrigerants for refrigeration systems. The novel azeotropic refrigerant mixtures of HFCs and HCs can replace refrigeration systems, and using the R134, R32, R125, and R1270 refrigerants in several compositions found using the decision tree function of the RapidMiner software (which came first in the KDnuggets annual software poll). All refrigerant results are mixed of POE, which is A1 classification refrigerant, non-flammable, and innocuous refrigerant, and using REFPROP software and CYCLE_D-HX software are under the CAN/ANSI/AHRI540 standards. The boiling point of the new refrigerant mix… More >

A Comprehensive Utility Function for Resource Allocation in Mobile Edge Computing

    Zaiwar Ali1, Sadia Khaf2, Ziaul Haq Abbas2, Ghulam Abbas3, Lei Jiao4, Amna Irshad2, Kyung Sup Kwak5, Muhammad Bilal6,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.2, pp. 1461-1477, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.013743 - 26 November 2020

Abstract In mobile edge computing (MEC), one of the important challenges is how much resources of which mobile edge server (MES) should be allocated to which user equipment (UE). The existing resource allocation schemes only consider CPU as the requested resource and assume utility for MESs as either a random variable or dependent on the requested CPU only. This paper presents a novel comprehensive utility function for resource allocation in MEC. The utility function considers the heterogeneous nature of applications that a UE offloads to MES. The proposed utility function considers all important parameters, including CPU,… More >

Heuristic and Bent Key Exchange Secured Energy Efficient Data Transaction for Traffic Offloading in Mobile Cloud

    Nithya Rekha Sivakumar1, *, Sara Ghorashi1, Mona Jamjoom1, Mai Alduailij1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.65, No.3, pp. 1925-1943, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.011505 - 16 September 2020

Abstract In today’s world, smart phones offer various applications namely face detection, augmented-reality, image and video processing, video gaming and speech recognition. With the increasing demand for computing resources, these applications become more complicated. Cloud Computing (CC) environment provides access to unlimited resource pool with several features, including on demand self-service, elasticity, wide network access, resource pooling, low cost, and ease of use. Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) aimed at overcoming drawbacks of smart phone devices. The task remains in combining CC technology to the mobile devices with improved battery life and therefore resulting in significant performance.… More >

Energy Efficient Resource Allocation Approach for Renewable Energy Powered Heterogeneous Cellular Networks

    Yifei Wei1, *, Yu Gong1, Qiao Li1, Mei Song1, *, Xiaojun Wang2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.64, No.1, pp. 501-514, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.010048 - 20 May 2020

Abstract In this paper, maximizing energy efficiency (EE) through radio resource allocation for renewable energy powered heterogeneous cellular networks (HetNet) with energy sharing, is investigated. Our goal is to maximize the network EE, conquer the instability of renewable energy sources and guarantee the fairness of users during allocating resources. We define the objective function as a sum weighted EE of all links in the HetNet. We formulate the resource allocation problem in terms of subcarrier assignment, power allocation and energy sharing, as a mixed combinatorial and non-convex optimization problem. We propose an energy efficient resource allocation More >

A Multi Criterion Fuzzy Based Energy Efficient Routing Protocol for Ad hoc Networks

    Geetha N., Sankar A.

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.24, No.4, pp. 711-719, 2018, DOI:10.1080/10798587.2017.1309003

Abstract The routing protocol for an ad hoc network should be efficient in utilizing the available resources to prolong the network lifetime. A Multi Criterion Fuzzy based Energy Efficient Routing Protocol (MCFEER) for Ad hoc Networks selects the path on constraints like bandwidth, battery life, hop count and buffer occupancy. In the route discovery phase, fuzzy system is applied for optimal route selection by destination node leading to successful data transmission. Multiple stable paths are preserved in route cache for usage during the route maintenance phase. The results are competitive when compared with Power aware Energy More >

A PSO based Energy Efficient Coverage Control Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks

    Jin Wang1,2, Chunwei Ju2, Yu Gao2, Arun Kumar Sangaiah3, Gwang-jun Kim4,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.56, No.3, pp. 433-446, 2018, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2018.04132

Abstract Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are large-scale and high-density networks that typically have coverage area overlap. In addition, a random deployment of sensor nodes cannot fully guarantee coverage of the sensing area, which leads to coverage holes in WSNs. Thus, coverage control plays an important role in WSNs. To alleviate unnecessary energy wastage and improve network performance, we consider both energy efficiency and coverage rate for WSNs. In this paper, we present a novel coverage control algorithm based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). Firstly, the sensor nodes are randomly deployed in a target area and remain More >
