Transcriptome Analysis and Morphological Changes in Response to Waterlogging in Iris pseudacorus

Xiaofang Yu#,*, Linjie Yue#, Qing Wu, Liu Yang, Chunyu Fan, Zhiwen Wang, Jiani Hu

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.91, No.10, pp. 2135-2162, 2022, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.020139

Abstract Iris pseudacorus is a widely cultivated and studied ornamental plant with a large biomass, strong adaptability and extensive management. Moreover, it has the ability to decontaminate and enrich heavy metals. However, few studies have been conducted on its submergence tolerance with little known about the molecular response of I. pseudacorus to flooding. Morphologically, I. pseudacorus had strong adaptability to waterlogging, the aerenchyma was gradually enlarged and adventitious roots developed between 0 and 14 d. The transcriptome data showed that the differentially expressed genes counts in plants flooded for 2 h, 4 h, 12 h and 24 h compared with the… More >

Short-Term Wind Energy Forecasting Using Deep Learning-Based Predictive Analytics

    Noman Shabbir1, Lauri Kütt1, Muhammad Jawad2, Oleksandr Husev1, Ateeq Ur Rehman3, Akber Abid Gardezi4, Muhammad Shafiq5, Jin-Ghoo Choi5,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.1, pp. 1017-1033, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.024576

Abstract Wind energy is featured by instability due to a number of factors, such as weather, season, time of the day, climatic area and so on. Furthermore, instability in the generation of wind energy brings new challenges to electric power grids, such as reliability, flexibility, and power quality. This transition requires a plethora of advanced techniques for accurate forecasting of wind energy. In this context, wind energy forecasting is closely tied to machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) as emerging technologies to create an intelligent energy management paradigm. This article attempts to address the short-term wind energy forecasting problem in… More >

Performance and Cost Analysis of Energy Production from Offshore Wind Turbines

    Haytham Ayoub, Ehab Hussein Bani-Hani*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.117, No.1, pp. 41-47, 2020, DOI:10.32604/EE.2020.010412

Abstract Offshore wind turbine is analyzed theoretically and experimentally for improving wind energy harvesting. The energy produced is calculated at different wind speeds. The wind speed curve is generated by measuring the wind speed on daily base for one year. Curves that show the power extraction for experimental study and from the theoretical calculations are generated. The energy production investigation is expanded over a period of 15 years after comparing the annual energy production in theory and practice. The study shows the cost of electricity over the same time period assuming different interest rates. Three time intervals are shown that are… More >

A Review on Date Palm Tree: Properties, Characterization and Its Potential Applications

    Mehdi Jonoobi1,*, Masoud Shafie1, Younes Shirmohammadli1, Alireza Ashori2, Hamid Zarea- Hosseinabadi1, Tizazu Mekonnen3

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.7, No.11, pp. 1055-1075, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2019.08188

Abstract Date palm (phoenix dactylifera), which is mostly found in the middle east countries such as Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and the United States (California) that play a significant role in the economical and the environmental condition in those areas. The main purpose of planting dates is its fruit, which is consumed as fresh, dried or processed forms. There are approximately 100 million date palm trees in the worldwide that 62 million of these trees located in the Middle East and North Africa. In Saudi Arabia only, 15000 tons of date palm leaves is prepared as waste materials. The leaves of… More >
