Load Frequency Control of Multi-interconnected Renewable Energy Plants Using Multi-Verse Optimizer

    Hegazy Rezk1,*, Mohamed A. Mohamed2, Ahmed A. Zaki Diab2, N. Kanagaraj1

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.37, No.2, pp. 219-231, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.015543

Abstract A reliable approach based on a multi-verse optimization algorithm (MVO) for designing load frequency control incorporated in multi-interconnected power system comprising wind power and photovoltaic (PV) plants is presented in this paper. It has been applied for optimizing the control parameters of the load frequency controller (LFC) of the multi-source power system (MSPS). The MSPS includes thermal, gas, and hydro power plants for energy generation. Moreover, the MSPS is integrated with renewable energy sources (RES). The MVO algorithm is applied to acquire the ideal parameters of the controller for controlling a single area and a multi-area MSPS integrated with RES.… More >

A Novel Polymorphic Topology with Hybrid Control Strategy Based LLC Resonant Converter for Ultra-Wide Input Voltage Range Applications

Chi Zhang, Yong Shi*, Xuwei Gui

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.2, pp. 341-361, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.014229

Abstract To realize effective utilization of renewable energy sources, a novel polymorphic topology with hybrid control strategy based LLC resonant converter was analyzed and designed in this paper. By combining the merits of a full bridge LLC resonant converter, three-level half bridge LLC resonant converter, and variable frequency control mode, the converter realizes an intelligent estimation of input voltage by automatically changing its internal circuit topology. Under this control strategy, different input voltages determine different operation modes. This is achieved in full bridge LLC mode when the input voltage is low. If the input voltage rises to a certain level, it… More >

Utilization of Multi-Tasking Non-Edible Plants for Phytoremediation and Bioenergy Source-A Review

    Ibrahim M. Abdelsalam1, Mostafa Elshobary1,3,*, Mohamed M. Eladawy1, Mohammed Nagah2

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.88, No.2, pp. 69-90, 2019, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2019.06831

Abstract Heavy metal contamination of land and freshwater resources is a serious concern worldwide. It adversely affects the health of animals, plants and humans. Therefore, remediation of toxic heavy metals must be highly considered. Unlike other techniques, phytoremediation is a holistic technology and can be used in large scale for soil remediation as it is costless, novel, environmentally-safe and solar-driven technology. Utilization of non-edible plants in phytoremediation is an ingenious technique as they are used to generate new bioenergy resources along with the remediation of contaminated soils. Some nonfood bioenergy crops such as Salix species, Miscanthus species, Populus species, Eucalyptus species,… More >
