    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.3, pp. 943-954, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.023225

Abstract Chinese hickory (Carya cathayensis Sarg.) is an important economic forest in Southeastern China. A large amount of hickory husk waste is generated every year but with a low proportion of returning. Meanwhile, intensive management has resulted in soil degradation of Chinese hickory plantations. This study aims to investigate the effects of three Chinese hickory husk returning modes on soil amendment, including soil acidity, soil nutrition, and microbial community. The field experiment carried out four treatments: control (CK), hickory husk mulching (HM), hickory husk biochar (BC), and hickory husk organic fertilizer (OF). The phospholipid fatty acid (PLFA) biomarker method was employed… More >

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.2, pp. 471-485, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.023660

Abstract Heavy metal-polluted soil was collected from the Pulang copper mine in Shangri-La City, Yunnan Province, Southwest China. The effects of fertilizer (organic and inorganic) and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) on ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum L.) growth, root morphology, mineral nutrition and cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb) contents were investigated by pot experiments. The results showed that both fertilizer and AMF significantly ameliorated the root morphology and mineral nutrition, reduced the Cd and Pb contents, and promoted the growth of ryegrass. Among all treatments, the combined application of organic–inorganic compound fertilizer with AMF had the highest effect, resulting in increases in root… More >

    Xiaolan Guo1,2, Di Zhao2, Jinbin Hu3, Delu Wang2,*, Jianbin Wang1, Muhammad Shakeel4

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.1, pp. 209-223, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.023050

    Abstract

To evaluate the effects of nitrogen (N) and irrigation coupling on the soil N distribution, plant N utilization, and fruit yield of rabbiteye blueberries (Vaccinium virgatum), a field experiment was designed using two factors (water and fertilizer application) with four levels of irrigation and three levels of fertilization, and a control. Under the different water and fertilizer combinations, N primarily accumulated in the leaves. Irrigation and N application within appropriate ranges (pure N ≤ 29 g/plant and irrigation volume ≤ 2.5 L/plant) significantly improved the blueberry fruit yield. Increases in water and N within these ranges promoted the effective accumulation… More >

Effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria on growth and reactive oxygen metabolism of tomato fruits under low saline conditions

WEI ZHOU, MENGMENG ZHANG, KEZHANG TAO, XIANCAN ZHU*

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.12, pp. 2575-2582, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.021910

Abstract Land salinization is a major form of land degradation, which is not conducive to the growth and quality of fruits and vegetables. Plant salt tolerance can be enhanced by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) or plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR). This study examined the effects of inoculation with PGPR singly or in combination with AMF, on the growth and quality of tomato fruits under low saline conditions. Tomatoes were cultivated in a greenhouse with sterilized soil, inoculated with PGPR, AMF, or co-inoculated with PGPR and AMF, and NaCl solution (1%) was added to the soil. The results indicated that AMF + PGPR… More >

Fuzzy MCDM for Improving the Performance of Agricultural Supply Chain

    Le Thi Diem My1, Chia-Nan Wang1, Nguyen Van Thanh2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.2, pp. 4003-4015, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.030209

Abstract Fertilizer industry in Vietnam and globally have entered the saturation phase. With the growth rate slowing down, this poses challenges for the development impetus of the fertilizer industry in the next period. In fact, over the past few decades, Vietnam’s crop industry has abused excessive investment in chemical fertilizers, with organic fertilizers are rarely used or not at all, limiting crop productivity, increasing pests and diseases. To develop sustainable agriculture, Vietnam’s crop industry must limit the use of chemical fertilizers, increase the use of environmentally friendly organic and natural mineral fertilizers to produce clean agricultural products which is safe. Therefore,… More >

Soil Nutrient Detection and Recommendation Using IoT and Fuzzy Logic

    R. Madhumathi1,*, T. Arumuganathan2, R. Shruthi1

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.43, No.2, pp. 455-469, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.023792

Abstract Precision agriculture is a modern farming practice that involves the usage of Internet of Things (IoT) to provide an intelligent farm management system. One of the important aspects in agriculture is the analysis of soil nutrients and balancing these inputs are essential for proper crop growth. The crop productivity and the soil fertility can be improved with effective nutrient management and precise application of fertilizers. This can be done by identifying the deficient nutrients with the help of an IoT system. As traditional approach is time consuming, an IoT-enabled system is developed using the colorimetry principle which analyzes the amount… More >
