    Xiaoyan Teng1, Qiang Li1, Xudong Jiang2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.3, pp. 2479-2496, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.023110

Abstract A smooth bidirectional evolutionary structural optimization (SBESO), as a bidirectional version of SESO is proposed to solve the topological optimization of vibrating continuum structures for natural frequencies and dynamic compliance under the transient load. A weighted function is introduced to regulate the mass and stiffness matrix of an element, which has the inefficient element gradually removed from the design domain as if it were undergoing damage. Aiming at maximizing the natural frequency of a structure, the frequency optimization formulation is proposed using the SBESO technique. The effects of various weight functions including constant, linear and sine functions on structural optimization… More >

    A. Jameer Basha1,*, M. Ramya Devi2, S. Lokesh1, P. Sivaranjani3, D. Mansoor Hussain4, Venkat Padhy5

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.2, pp. 1483-1493, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.021540

Abstract Data transmission through a wireless network has faced various signal problems in the past decades. The orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technique is widely accepted in multiple data transfer patterns at various frequency bands. A recent wireless communication network uses OFDM in long-term evolution (LTE) and 5G, among others. The main problem faced by 5G wireless OFDM is distortion of transmission signals in the network. This transmission loss is called peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). This wireless signal distortion can be reduced using various techniques. This study uses machine learning-based algorithm to solve the problem of PAPR in 5G wireless communication.… More >

    Mrim M. Alnfiai*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 3763-3780, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.033448

Abstract Developments in data storage and sensor technologies have allowed the cumulation of a large volume of data from industrial systems. Both structural and non-structural data of industrial systems are collected, which covers data formats of time-series, text, images, sound, etc. Several researchers discussed above were mostly qualitative, and ceratin techniques need expert guidance to conclude on the condition of gearboxes. But, in this study, an improved symbiotic organism search with deep learning enabled fault diagnosis (ISOSDL-FD) model for gearbox fault detection in industrial systems. The proposed ISOSDL-FD technique majorly concentrates on the identification and classification of faults in the gearbox… More >

Vibration of a Two-Layer “Metal+PZT” Plate Contacting with Viscous Fluid

    Zeynep Ekicioglu Kuzeci1,*, Surkay D. Akbarov2,3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 4337-4362, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.033446

Abstract The present work investigates the mechanically forced vibration of the hydro-elasto-piezoelectric system consisting of a two-layer plate “elastic+PZT”, a compressible viscous fluid, and a rigid wall. It is assumed that the PZT (piezoelectric) layer of the plate is in contact with the fluid and time-harmonic linear forces act on the free surface of the elastic-metallic layer. This study is valuable because it considers for the first time the mechanical vibration of the metal+piezoelectric bilayer plate in contact with a fluid. It is also the first time that the influence of the volumetric concentration of the constituents on the vibration of… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 2517-2530, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.031833

Abstract A compact, reconfigurable antenna supporting multiple wireless services with a minimum number of switches is found lacking in literature and the same became the focus and outcome of this work. It was achieved by designing a Th-Shaped frequency reconfigurable multi-band microstrip planar antenna, based on use of a single switch within the radiating structure of the antenna. Three frequency bands (i.e., 2007–2501 MHz, 3660–3983 MHz and 9341–1046 MHz) can be operated with the switch in the ON switch state. In the OFF state of the switch, the antenna operates within the 2577–3280 MHz and 9379–1033 MHz Bands. The proposed antenna shows an acceptable input impedance… More >

Abstract Speech recognition systems have become a unique human-computer interaction (HCI) family. Speech is one of the most naturally developed human abilities; speech signal processing opens up a transparent and hand-free computation experience. This paper aims to present a retrospective yet modern approach to the world of speech recognition systems. The development journey of ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) has seen quite a few milestones and breakthrough technologies that have been highlighted in this paper. A step-by-step rundown of the fundamental stages in developing speech recognition systems has been presented, along with a brief discussion of various modern-day developments and applications in… More >

A Single-Ended Protection Principle for LCC-VSC-MTDC System with High Resistance Fault Tolerance

Dahai Zhang*, Chuanjian Wu, Jinghan He

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.1, pp. 1-21, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.023304

Abstract Line-commutated converter-voltage source converter (LCC-VSC) power transmission technology does not have the problem of communication failure very usually. It therefore can support the long-distance, long-capacity transmission of electric energy. However, factors such as topology, control strategy, and short-circuit capacities make the traditional protection principles not fully applicable to LCC-VSC hybrid transmission systems. To enhance the reliability of hybrid DC systems, a single-ended principle based on transmission coefficients is proposed and produced. First, the equivalent circuit of the LCC-VSC hybrid DC system is analyzed and the expression of the first traveling wave is deduced accordingly. Then, the concept of multi-frequency transmission… More >

Robust Frequency Estimation Under Additive Symmetric α-Stable Gaussian Mixture Noise

    Peng Wang1, Yulu Tian2, Bolong Men1,*, Hailong Song1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 83-95, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.027602

Abstract Here the estimating problem of a single sinusoidal signal in the additive symmetric α-stable Gaussian (ASαSG) noise is investigated. The ASαSG noise here is expressed as the additive of a Gaussian noise and a symmetric α-stable distributed variable. As the probability density function (PDF) of the ASαSG is complicated, traditional estimators cannot provide optimum estimates. Based on the Metropolis-Hastings (M-H) sampling scheme, a robust frequency estimator is proposed for ASαSG noise. Moreover, to accelerate the convergence rate of the developed algorithm, a new criterion of reconstructing the proposal covariance is derived, whose main idea is updating the proposal variance using… More >

Abstract Minimizing the energy consumption to increase the life span and performance of multiprocessor system on chip (MPSoC) has become an integral chip design issue for multiprocessor systems. The performance measurement of computational systems is changing with the advancement in technology. Due to shrinking and smaller chip size power densities on-chip are increasing rapidly that increasing chip temperature in multi-core embedded technologies. The operating speed of the device decreases when power consumption reaches a threshold that causes a delay in complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) circuits because high on-chip temperature adversely affects the life span of the chip.
